AD & D Excavating
Our experience with D&D Excavating was completely positive, and they have done a great deal of work for us in some tricky terrain. We built our house on completely unimproved land, and land that has a significant amount of rock not far beneath the surface. It took some real skill to successfully excavate for the foundation of our house and to install the (rather deep) ground loop for its geothermal heating system. In doing these things, the skill and ingenuity of this company saved us thousands of dollars it would have cost us to bring in heavier equipment to deal with the rock in a more straightforward way. This house has been finished now for almost two years, so we've had time to appreciate the quality of this work. The road they built into our house is very well built, beautifully banked to help with water flow, and has a good solid base. The drainage around the house (not just the road, but rainwater control systems as well) they built work beautifully. When ever we need excavating work in the future, we will call them.

ABaker Concrete
They were fast. They were very professional. They were responsive. There was no extra cost. There were no issues at all. Their punctuality and their quality of work were very good. I was very satisfied. I would definitely use them again if needed.

They did good work, they were quick, and it was reasonably priced. I would have preferred if he had come out to look at the work at the end to make sure that I was satisfied.

FPaul Ryan's Construction
Paul Ryan's Construction was used about a month ago.  He quoted $10,000.  It was just for him to do the foundation.  I pulled the permit and everything.  All he had to do was come in and do the work.  He had faulty equipment.  He was not timely.   He brought the equipment out here and it broke.  And then asked would I have it fixed.  He saw was out there fixing my Suburban so he figured they new about automotive and wanted us to fix his equipment.  I helped him out and then found out something else was wrong with it.  I said I didn't sign up for this, I'm paying you to do the work.  I wanted him to do the work and he didn't do the work.  He didn't do the work at all.  He started out okay, I was really happy, he was moving the dirt.  And then it rained and he said he would come back when the ground dried up.  He disappeared for two weeks.

AHarold Hood Co
Harold Hood of Harold Hood Company, Inc. is one of the most straightforward, honest people you will meet.  He is up front about what he charges, then he does the job and I mean thoroughly.  He cleared my lot, excavated the hole for a basement, hauled, back filled, graded.  He was always on time, always finished when he said he would finish and did every task to perfection.  Harold is truly talented in what he does and again, I reiterate he is honest and you can trust him to do the right.  Since his work on my lot, I have received a lot of compliments on the quality of clearing and attention to detail on the digging of my basement.  Thank you Harold.

AW&M Backhoe Services
The price was a fraction of other estimates.  The work was top-notch. All digging around existing underground utilities was done by hand. I have worked with many equipment operators, and I was very impressed by Mr. Hamm.  I believe he could flip a dime with an excavator if he tried.

AUnderground Services First
Underground Systems were fairly priced and great to deal with. They had a top notch crew that were extremely professional and knew what they were doing. They started on time, and put in extra hours when necessary. With the heavy equipment needed for the job I expected some damage to  bushes and numerous trees near the work area, but damage was surprisingly minimal. I could tell they went out of their way to keep things as they were.  I highly recommend this company.

FSTEELE CONSTRUCTION
Donald "Hopper" Steele and Brenda Steele caused a major setback on our home building project. I paid them $24,650 up front to clear land and lay stone for a 1300 foot long driveway. The amount was that high due to the stone for the driveway being $18,000. A couple days before it was time for Steele to purchase the stone, they asked for a meeting and presented me with a bill for $8080, "due upon receipt", because the job and rocks were taking longer than expected. Yes, one could say "Rock Clause", but no additional equipment was needed to remove rocks, and everyone knew the surface rocks were there from the start. They were clearly visible and factored in from the initial contract, which totaled $50,180. Brenda Steele wanted me to cough up $8080 that day or they would leave. Needless to say, I didn't, because the contract was for the scope of work and a set amount. They wouldn't give me any assurance that they wouldn't do this again and it felt like extortion. I found it fishy that they needed the additional money right now when it was time for them to buy the stone for which I had already paid them, weeks before. They packed up their bulldozer and quit in the middle of the job! In the end, they refunded $8800 of the $24,650. Besides the money, it took an additional month to find and get a new excavator started. When Donald Steele was "working", which was pretty much every other day, he thought it was okay to ignore the surveyor's "Limit of Disturbance" stakes as well and did not follow the plan at all. In the end, I was very glad to have a new excavator who did a much better job than they ever would have done. My advice is don't ever use Steele Construction for your project! The work is poorly done and excessively slow with shoddy equipment that breaks down. They try to change the terms of the contract in the middle to get more money when you are deep into the project. Just stay away from this excavator!

AJohnny Werks
The job started under fair skys with excavation of the required area to build the wall.  Johnny Lester, the main man, was one earth moving master and although the soil removal was at times difficult to get the right position, Johhny handled it all with determination and accuracy.  The excavation took 2 complete days, and to be honest, I was actually surprised it was done that quickly.      The wall building was carefully planned out before even attempting to lift a block into place.  Now, to be on the up and up, I had viewed some You Tube videos on retaining wall building because I wanted to know something about what my builder was going to try to sell me.  To his credit, his proposals agreed with what I had viewed, so I was fairly sure he knew what he was attempting to do.     So, a trench was dug and filled with gravel, tamped down, and the 1st painstaking row of block laid down.  Never realized just how time consuming it is to get everything perfectly level side to side and front to back for a length of 59 feet with a 90 degree corner in the middle, but Johnny never hurried or lagged behind as the very 1st row is the most critical,,,,and he finished that 1st row in a single day, less in fact, because it had rained the night before and we had to wait a couple of hours for the area to dry out.  The remainder of the wall went up quickly at a pace of 2 to 3 courses a day plus the gravel drainage and packed dirt and reinforcing geogird every 2 courses.  This man worked hard, he worked harder than I ever thought possible.      Overall, I was quoted 2 weeks from start to end, and if was 1 week and 6 days to be exact.  The wall came out just beautiful and I'd not find a worker more dedicated to the job.

AALEXANDER BACKHOE SVC
Mike Alexander with Alexander Backhoe Service was working in the area and quoted a job at our home. A very large mature white pine tree had fallen during a storm in one of our fields. The quote was competitive and considered the fact that he had equipment in the area. Once we said OK, he didn't hesitate to get started. He immediately alerted his crew and they began the work quickly, as Mike indicated while quoting the job. The work performed was professional beyond my expectations; did what he said he would do and then did a few extra things because he knew we likely needed the service (no extra charge - just good old fashion customer service). I highly recommend Alexander Backhoe Service for similar jobs. Mike explained the company also provides footings (experts), hauling and excavating. This company will get all of our future work without a doubt - highly recommended.
