Recent Review: We recently remodeled our master bathroom and after extensive research we selected Remodel USA. We initially met with Martin Rabone who spent several hours showing us the various options available and assisting us in making preliminary selections. We were directed to various distributors who work with Remodel USA to make tile, granite and fixture selections. We found all of them to be extremely helpful. All parts of the project were carefully worked through with no work beginning until all the materials were available. We were told the project would take 2 weeks from start to finish and were pleasantly pleased that they finished a day early. Our production manager, Percy Melendez, assisted in final choices of materials prior to ordering and insured that we had the correct items and was meticulous in overseeing the two workers, appearing frequently and phoning often to be sure we were happy with everything. Two people were assigned to do the entire instillation except for the frame less shower glass. This meant that there was no waiting for various people who might be delayed by other jobs and the two knew how to do the tile work, electrical work, and plumbing. Both workers were extremely attentive to making sure that our carpets and furnishings were protected and provided advice about placement of grab bars and the showers. They approached us to make final placement decisions before instillation and did everything possible to make certain we would have the master bathroom we envisioned. The frame less shower surround was also expertly installed. All workers cleaned up the area daily and left no construction or other trash behind. Overall, we were exceptionally pleased with our entire experience and highly recommend Remodel USA. We will definitely consider them for future home projects as they do additions, windows, and other things.
Business Description: The company was started in 1951 as a partnership with Lloyd G. Flint, Jr. and two Realtors at Steptoe Patteson. Lloyd Flint developed and ran the construction end of the business. It evolved into the Home Builders of Lynchburg, Inc. In 1960 the business was divided and Mr. Flint took over the construction division. Soon after the name was changed to L.G. Flint Inc. Flint’s reputation for high-quality, price competitive buildings continued to grow. L. G. Flint’s eldest son Bob Flint, CGR, joined the company in 1975 after his military service and work as an engineer. His commitment to quality is shared by the staff of experienced, full time employees. Well supervised teams of skilled craftsmen give the company the capability and flexibility to keep projects moving, even under challenging conditions. Bob’s son Andy Flint joined the Company in 1997 and is now President of L. G. Flint supported by a strong team of Executives, Superintendents and Staff, some of whom have been with the Company for over 20 years. Through the years L.G. Flint, Inc has developed the versatility to tackle a variety of jobs. Flint builds and remodels residential and commercial structures. Recent Review: New shower, tub, vanity, lighting, floor tile and wall paint. Great attention to detail early in the process with selection of colors and fixtures at leisure. When they started the work it took about two and a half weeks for the whole job. Exactly what they said. Finished product is truly excellent. We would not hesitate to recommend them.
Recent Review: Crowdsourcing site for interior and architectural design. Interesting service and if you are comfortable with internet shopping and a little risk, IMHO, worth the cost.  My project:   Redesigning kitchen and family room (great room concept) and we needed interior design/style advise for the project. The site posts a "competition" for the project, you determine what amount of money to offer for the competition (site recommends an amount, but the customer is free to change if needed.) Within 20 days, we had 20 designers signed up for our competition from all over the world. In the end, 8 designers submitted designs. We picked our top 4, rated all designs and the top three were selected based on ratings -- one from France, USA and Serbia. Honorable Mention went to country of Georgia. First, second and third place received a portion of the award money.   Pros and Cons:  You, the customer, must be comfortable with the risk of paying for something and not knowing if you'll like the result. For me, this was part of the process and an acceptable risk.  You don't have a face to face consultation. The site has a "wall" where you can post ideas, photos, communication with the designers or architects. I resolved this by posting my design book on the wall to give designers ideas of our likes, dislikes, etc. You can also post requirements and constraints for your project. Toward the end of the competition (a deadline is set when you submit a project) a lot of communication occurs with the architects and designers. Expect it, it's part of the process.  The website is fairly rudimentary. Online/chat help is available but is somewhat hit and miss.  You can send designs to friends and family to rate. This is helpful in making a decision.  Overall, we got a number of ideas between the designers and were very pleased with the process and project.
Business Description: Ballard Mensua Architecture, led by Seth Ballard, NCARB, AIA, is a boutique architecture firm with a focus on creating truly custom designs and solutions for our clients. We have very strong vendor and contractor relationships, a result of our detailed understanding of construction. Unlike many architects, who like to design and then hand over control to the builder, Ballard Mensua maintains control of management of the project throughout construction. We have a unique cost-study process that helps to put our clients in control of spending... and results in completion of projects on budget.. almost unheard of in this business. Our designs speak for themselves... see our website at Our business philosophy is that all clients should be a reference and we work hard to make sure to see projects through. We also have a unique ability to do very large projects without tearing a house down... we save much of the house and build around it... saving sometimes 10 dumpsters of landfill (truly green). Finally, where many architects bring their large ego and force their designs on clients... Ballard Mensua prides ourselves on tailoring designs to each client, listening to specific needs and working hard to make sure that our designs fit what a client is looking for. Additional email -

AHome Improvements By Nate
Mr Floyd was rec to us by another handyman who wasn't equipped to complete the job. Within hours of initially contacting him, he had returned our call and scheduled a date to do the work in the same week. He provided a reasonable written estimate before starting. During the installation it became clear that a previous handyman had inproperly attached other closet components. Mr Floyd let me know immediately what issues he was finding and rec solutions to correct the problem and ensure the safety of my family/baby. He not only completed his contracted installation, but reworked/repaired the previous work of the other handyman, with only a slight increase in the estimated charge . He was very professional and careful in my home and had a focus on doing quality work. I will definitely be calling him again for any handyman needs around our home!

ATile Team
They did a complete remodel of my bathroom including a top to bottom remodel of the ceiling and the walls and the tub and upgraded my plumbing for a new code and they also put in a new vanity, a new floor and toilet.  They are skilled and give attention to detail.  They are one of the best contractors I have ever had!  They get all "A".  I will definitely use them again in the future.

BBathPlanet of Lynchburg
Much better than original--details could have been improved, such as patching, sanding, etc. Had to arrange for tub hardware to be completed.

Mark is more of a general manager. When you hire him to do a remodel or big job he will bring in plumbers, carpenters, electricians. He does to finish work like drywall, plastering. I think that's why he is high. He does use extremely competent workers!! Everyone that he brings to the job site is well qualified and professional. He is personable himself. If you have a job to get done call him and he will bring you the best in the business to get it done.
