Recent Review: Windows Universe I can?t say enough about how happy my wife and I are not only with the window but also with the installers.  The windows are Revere Berkshire.  They are vinyl with the grids between the two panes of glass.  I just finished cleaning them and it was a breeze.  They tilt in and are very easy to handle.  In addition to twenty-two windows (18 double hung and two picture windows) I also has a set of French Doors and a basement door installed. I have not had windows replaced before and was fascinated with how it was done.  There was one installer and a helper.  The first day they installed all 22 windows.  The second day they installed the French Doors and the basement door.  On the third and last day they covered all the wood around the windows and doors on the outside with aluminum custom cut on the premises to fit perfectly.   They were on time each day and didn?t bother to take a lunch break.  They worked straight through until about 4:00 pm each of the three days. I subscribed to Angie?s list to get an honest appraisal of window installation companies because there are so many in the Washington DC area.  While others got relatively high marks none came close to Windows Universe.  I?ve heard that the best form of advertising is a satisfied customer.  I?m happy to join the ranks of all the others who sing the praises of the company.

Recent Review: Everything went wonderfully. 100% honesty here. I was a little frustrated in the beginning because it felt like jumping thru hoops just to get someone to come out and provide an estimate. However, with that said, I'm very glad we stuck with this company. The owner himself is the one that comes out and does the estimate. I'm not new to the construction industry, so I knew what needed to be done (being pregnant I didn't want to do it myself). The owner was extremely knowledgable and professional. We had, had two other companies come out to look at the same project and Mr. Handyman was by far the most qualified. He knew exactly what he was talking about, which was refreshing to hear. He was honest about the process and cost, he didn't seem to want to take us for all of our money, but wanted to do a quality job. The job took two days. The gentleman that came out was very professional and patient with my annoying barking dogs (thank you. I know they were annoying!) The storm door project was completed same day, and the French doors took a day and a half, but it all looks amazing. A very professional and competent company. They have reasonable prices. I would and will be hiring them again for other projects along with recommending them to anyone and everyone that needs a handyman. Pictures are attached. The only thing left to do is paint the French doors and the walls where the spackle is... Honestly, I'll probably hire them again to do that too!

Recent Review: He was really good. We went to the hardware store together to pick the door out so he could tell those guys exactly what we needed to do the door installation. That was  nice. It took him all day long to do it and he did a great job. He is prompt and friendly. It is a family business and he had his two high school sons here to help him.  It was a big job and he had to do a lot of custom installation.  He used a customized door frame. He has done a lot of work not only for me but for a lot of people in the neighborhood here. He has never had a problem with anybody. I have used him on several projects for a lot of outdoor stuff.  Some shutters had fallen off the house and he did all that stuff. He did a lot of painting on the outside of the house. His price is good. If he can’t show up for the job he calls.  I will use them again for sure

Recent Review: It went well. Freeman is the sole owner/employee of the company although he can all in help when needed, as he did in my case. The work on my house took a couple of months. At quitting time each day he cleaned up, removed all material, and left as little evidence of the project as possible. The work was mostly exterior and when rain was forecast he made sure to protect any exposed structure. The total cost of the project was more than the estimate but there was hidden damage that could not have been foreseen. I would totally recommend ProMaintenance.

Recent Review: While installing a new composite material roof on my covered porch, they discovered one of the rafters and several cross members were badly warped due to the old roof leaking.  They quickly and expertly installed the new supports and completed the roof job with no problems.  The new roof is excellent and we have had no leaks.  While installing a new exterior double French door they discovered a section of the sub-floor that had water damage from a roof leak that intruded around the old door.  They cut out and replaced the section of damaged sub-floor and replaced the laminate flooring pieces.  The new door looks awesome and they left no evidence that any work had been performed.  I highly recommend Daniel (owner) and his crew for the outstanding work and prices they provided.

They visited us to show us samples and provide quotes. After we signed a contract, two men came later to take thorough measurements. When the installers came, they verified that we were getting the right doors. They made sure we were aware of all steps taken and asked if they had any questions. Before we gave a final payment, they ensured we were happy with the results.

CHandyman Connection of Winchester
The handyman named David that was sent for the job was polite at first, then as the project continued on, made some rather off color comments that were unappreciated but ignored because I wanted the job finished. It took several days to complete the job and at the end, the job was NOT done right. The handyman was adamant that he had completed the service correctly and insisted that the door was faulty. I called Home Depot where I purchased the door, they sent 2 specialist out to the house and within 15 min they found that the door was indeed installed incorrectly. I called Handyman Connection and they sent David back out to fix the door, at no extra cost. He again made some off color remarks and again I ignored them because I just wanted the door fixed properly. I was still not satisfied when he finished, but he stated there was nothing else he could do. I waited a day or so then called the company back and insisted they send a different handyman out to correct the mistakes. The company asked for reasons why I was requesting someone else and I explained everything to them. The woman I spoke with was very apologetic and insisted that the problem would be addressed. A different handyman came out to correct the job and he did a wonderful job and was very polite. He refused to leave until I was completely satisfied. I am unsure if I would use this company again. If I do, I will request the second handyman that came out and did the job right.

DCasual Glenn's Handyman Services
Humourously. He was close to an hour and a half late to the initial appointment. I'm not a noob when it comes to home improvement, I've been involved in the industry for years, so I know what is supposed to happen when someone decides they want to add something to their house. This guy came in, and no joke, just measured the opening of the doorways and left. That's it. No real consultation. I knew the entryway for the French doors would need to be framed in, he didn't say anything about that, didn't measure anything for that. Just measured the opening and left. It was clear he didn't know what he was doing. We get the estimate back and the estimate was around $300.... The cost of the doors alone was over $300. Now I'm all about a good price, but this price is not a good price. This is a "I have no idea what I'm doing and you're going to end up with a sham of a job" price. So for him to be over an hour late to the appointment, not knowing what he was doing... The name of the business fits well. "Casual" indeed.

AWindow World of Fredericksburg
A telephone call brought a salesman to our door who measured the doors and provided a price quote.  We had originally planned to have French doors installed in both locations but the salesman recommended against that style in the ground level location because of exposure to weather and recommended a less expensive sliding door.  This matched the door in that location which was to be replaced.  We accepted his recommendation and placed the order.  A 50% down payment was required.  The delivery was estimated to be in six weeks from the time of order.  The French doors were delivered and installed at the expected time, but the sliding door was not available, apparently because of a mistake in placing the order by the local office.  The actual installation was scheduled several days in advance.  The installation crew arrived at the time expected and did their work efficiently and politely.  The second door was delivered and installed six weeks later.  The same crew installed this door, again arriving at the expected time and doing their work efficiently and politely. After about 2 months of use, both doors are working as advertised.  I am quite happy with the experience.  The sales representative was polite and informative and did not employ any pressure tactics.  The installation was completed in a timely fashion with no more fuss than the job required.  The installers were competent and professional.  We selected Window World from three competing quotes as offering the best combination of price, quality and service.

They usually will call and see if I am ready for follow up work. They come promptly for sizing and price quotations. It usually take 2 to3 weeks to get the simonton windows built for the sizes specified. They take the windows an replace all in the same day. I also had install a nice heavy duty french door in the basement to replace the rotting wooden one. Great service!

AWilliamsburg Maintenance Inc
This company is excellent.  I received a recommendation from my Mother-in-Law for this company (specifically for Shamus), and I couldn't be more pleased.  I purchased 2 interior French doors from Custom Builder Supply (along with the hardware).  Williamsburg Maintenance installed the doors, hardware and provided and installed a door stop.  The doors were installed perfectly.  I am definitely going to use them again for my next project.  Thank you so much, Shamus and Phil!
