Smith plumbing is insured, licensed and bonded, and we follow stringent guidelines to ensure the safety of you and your home. . . . **** Please Note: Although we try to answer all calls, we are not a huge company with an answering service that may be able to, we are often servicing other customers. I work extremely hard and many nights/unusual times trying to cater to customers needs so I would appreciate, not receiving a bad review for not answering a phone/having time for new work, and yes, my voice mail often gets filled up by other customers... There are many companies that charge accordingly for high overhead and answering services they offer. Thanks much for your understanding ***
Recent Review: I've done a lot of reading on sump pumps, but probably no unlike a lot of homeowners, I didn't know a lot about what I needed to be looking for on maintenance, etc. My backup battery had just gone out and I needed help on what to do next. Whether to get a new battery, or just a new system. Darrell was AMAZING. Very professional and answered every single question I had, he looked at the system thoroughly, and helped me understand the ins and outs of my system better. I can't thank him enough for helping to ease my mind, and being kind enough to walk me through what I was looking at. My Monday was made better for it!

Recent Review: The service techician is David McCue. He arrived on time. Didn't mind me watching him to learn a thing or two and let me help when he need an extra hand. Removed the old Sump Pump. Cleaned the grabbles and grabbage out from the drainage well and then installed the new Sump Pump with and a check valve (the builder didn't put one in). The whole thing was done in less than an hour. I had also discovered a bad faucet in one of my bathroom yesterday and asked him if that's something I can fix it from the faucet side myself without opening the dry wall. I was planning to do that myself. He offered to put a new cartilage in with a reasonable price and he was done in less than 15 mins. As oppose to me doing the job... 1 hour getting parts and 1 hours fiddle with it and 1/2 hour reading instruction. The whole deal started at 8:00 am and he was done top half of 9:00 am. Bottom line... Good price (I had three A lister's quotes and they are the most reasonable quote), job done efficiently and done well. Mr. McCue was also flexible enough to take on a side job outside the scope of the project.
Recent Review: The crew was very professional and finished the work quickly and efficiently. They were very courteous and cleaned up all the areas they worked on, and took time to explain all the new functions to my plumbing system so that I can maintain them correctly. I highly recommend their services.

Called on Sunday. Answering service scheduled service call next day. Charlie, one of their plumbers called and showed up on time. He was very professional, quickly identified the obvious problem, and his repair and cleanup work was excellent. Here is the rub. Their pricing is outrageous. Charlie spent about 3.5 hours on this job but one hour was spent replacing either a part or tool that he broke so he had to leave and return. He spent about 2.5 hours replacing the pump.. He lives nearby so lets make it 3 hours including time to travel. The motor used was high quality and is available at Lowes for less than $400.00. I had to persist to get the price reduced by $100.00 for their ad on Angies list. So, without the discount, that leaves about $1200 for labor or $400/hour. That is outrageous. I have run a high-end engineering development and services business so I know the overhead, employee benefits, capital investment costs etc to run a business. Typically, a billable hour of labor costs appx. 2 to 2.5 times the hourly salary including 15% profit. Doing the math, at $400/hr would indicate an hourly wage of $175-200/hr. I know plumbers are expensive but their price is a rip-off. Its no wonder they don't price jobs by the hour. I only let them get away with this because the sump pump supports a bathroom in our basement where our daughter lives and the toilet, sink, and shower had backed up and was anxious to get it repaired. No clogs to find and fix, just a sump pump to replace. Never again.

The men who did the work were very courteous and efficient. Three months after the installation, however, we learned that the pump had been connected to a an outlet that didn't receive power on a continuous basis. This could have precipitated a flood while we were out of the country, but thankfully it didn't. Additionally, we asked B-Dry Waterproofing if it would be willing to pay for the electrical issue, but it wasn't. We also wish that they had done a better job of finishing the surface of the concrete.

While the work was done quickly, the attempt to seal the sump pit left several obvious gaps through which air/gas could easily migrate. I called Bill back, and he returned promptly, only to do another inadequate job. At this point, I think he may have some problems understanding basic mechanical tasks, so, rather than try again, I will fix it myself.

AFluvanna Plumbing Services
My sump pump was fairly new so I called the manufacturer to find out who they recommend to service it. They gave me the name of 3 plumbers - I never got a call back from any of them, so I went on Angie's List and read the glowing reviews for Fluvanna Plumbing. The service was even better than I expected. It's a family business and they were so responsive and professional and FAST! I have had really, REALLY bad experiences with contractors. Either they're good at what they do but unprofessional and sloppy, or they try to upsell you. Jimmy Perry was extremely professional, honest and knowledgeable. He turned an awful situation around for me. I can't express how appreciative I am.

Trae from Woodbridge Plumbing arrived at my home on schedule. Trae was professional and went over a brief rundown of the job. After showing Trae what I needed done and the location, he immediately got to work. To no fault of his own he wasn't prepared for the amount of copper needed to install the water heater due to the inlet being at the bottom of this hybrid water heater rather than the traditional inlet / outlet at the top of a water heater. Trae was very apologetic and was back in no time with the supplies to do the job. I had asked Trae to do a basic condensation drain line punched through the wall and I would DIY the project on my own and run the drain to the outside (as I do not have a sump pump / in house drain in my basement. Here is where Trae's service, craftsmanship and quality really came into play. With those directions, he still took the time to properly run the condensation line through the wall and to the outdoors displaying the quality and standards that I have come to know from Woodbridge Plumbing. Trae should be commended for his service and is a true craftsman for Woodbridge Plumbing, Inc. Both times I have hired this company the quality has been top notch and this time the customer service and quality far exceeded my expectations. I recommend them to anyone in the D.C./NOVA area.
