Recent Review: He put in a water heater and demolished my bathroom. I had no shower or bathtub. He said he would come in on the following Monday to finish the job but continued to make excuses why he could not come out. He still has not finished the job.
Recent Review: From the first minute I had contact with Jim Rex I knew I wanted to deal with this company. There was no pressure on the sale and he came over multiple times to discuss both the pool heating and whole home solar prior to signing a contract. He answered the phone every time I called and was happy to talk and answer any questions. The staff at the office were super friendly and made sure I had an answer to every question. I had a great experience with the pool install and they did a great plumbing job that made the whole pool area look much more organized. They spent an hour explaining the system and answering any questions. The whole home system was installed in 3 days including a circuit breaker upgrade and relocation. The staff was courteous and respectful of my infant daughter. They also came back the day after install to teach the system and answer all my questions.

Stephen did a great job. He identified the problem with our main pool pump and repaired it when another company would have replaced the entire pump. He also repaired the pump timer at no extra charge. Our pool looks sparkling and beautiful, and the water feature works again. Definitely recommend!

He said that I needed a new hot water heater because it was leaking. I got a second opinion who told me that there was nothing wrong with the heater. He said that the Tand P valve was dumping water because the tempature was turned all the way up. It is a gas heater and it is about 15 years old. The guy that gave the second opinion said that it should last a long time because gas heaters can last up to 45 years. I almost spent $1000.00 on a service that was not needed.

Like any major construction project, there are always events that happen that are unexpected by the homeowner. But nothing out of the ordinary happened on our project. Baldwin Pools installed a quality product that we continue to enjoy 10 years later.

Outstanding! Work was performed without my presence as I am currently overseas active duty military. Installation looks great and performs as advertised. Corresponded over email and SolarSource worked with me as this project was funded within our VA loan. They were very patient with the process and showed up on the date required. Permits were handled by them also. Overall, I'm very pleased.

I had called Al Starck of Mr. Handyman for an estimate on the repair of my raised deck. He came out to inspect the job and gave me a detailed estimate in writing. He was extremely helpful and suggested several alternatives and fixes. His communication is outstanding - always responded to my questions via e-mail or phone in a very timely manner. As agreed, his team showed up exactly on time (to the minute!) - neat, professional, and prepared to get to work. His employees were extremely courteous and helpful. The evening before they were to begin the deck work, my water heater sprung a leak! Not knowing who to turn to, I reached out to Mr. Starck via e-mail that morning. He personally met me at the hardware store to pick out a new unit and one of his crew was an expert at replacing the water heater. It was certainly an unplanned and unexpected turn for this work day, but his crew were incredibly good about it - working together to get everything done in one visit. I do not hesitate in fully recommending Al Starck and Mr. Handyman of Fredericksburg for any household repair. I plan to keep their number "handy" for anything I need in the future!

I am writing to you on behalf of my mother, Sheree Huddleston, from Gun Barrel City, in hopes that your investigative reporting can bring her nightmare to an end. Last July she and her husband hired Bill Irvin of Preferred Pool Corp to build a $52K (approx.) pool with a contract stating it would be complete by October 1, 2014. Mr. Irvin has taken $45K (approx.) from them and left them with a cement hole in the ground with the wrong walkway materials and no equipment (electrical, pump, etc). He slowly quit answering the phone, would not show up for set appointments to talk about the project completion, would not respond to attorney’s letters and has been unaccountable in finishing/supplying what is already paid for. My mother filed two BBB complaints as you can see from the link below. It has made her physically sick paying this much money for a product they cannot use. My parents contacted another pool company in hopes of getting the job finished before the summer but that's another $30K and hiring a construction lawyer would not guarantee the job would get finished. I did put a call in to Mr. Irvin last week to make sure the phone numbers were valid and he was still in business. I inquired on getting a pool built and he quoted, “his mission is to service the customer through and after the construction,” “his service agreement is 40 days weather depending,” “there’s no benefit to the contractor to drag a project out because that’s less of a profit on their end,” “there’s no hold up in getting a new project started soon as he only has 5 currently under construction.” These comments let me know that Mr. Irvin has completely gone about his business without regard to the costly project he started for my parents. Please let me know the formal procedures to begin an investigative report against Mr. Bill Irvin/Preferred Pool, Inc.

Highly upset with poor quality workmanship. Richard was always difficult to reach the pool started in November and has yet to have issues completed. The bottom of the pool is entirely filled with indentations and creases, paint peeling on side of pool surround, electric doesn't work properly, heater keeps malfunctioning. Nothing was done the way we originally discussed. He tried to cheat us out of amount of concrete around pool. He also created a large sloop of ground on deck side of pool that required a large retaining wall. The erosion is still a problem. Numerous calls to have it fixed and to reimburse us for expenses goes without answer. Unfortunately, it was only after we began having problems with his not completing work did we start to hear from others the horror stories of AAA Pools. Don't be fooled into his high pitch sales garbage.
