Recent Review: he installed the new skimmer and tied the pipe in but left out important components..the bonding lug tee, shut off valve and union that I had laying there right beside the new skimmer. when i asked why he left it out he replied with "why do u have to bond the pvc pipe?"...any pool maintenance tech should know that you are bonding the water, not the pipe...he also left 3 leaks with his new work. one at each thread and one at the skimmer face plate outside the pool wall. he promised to come fix the leaks and add my fittings back in the next morning so that night i drained my pool down for him again to below the skimmer and surprisingly, he didnt show up. i called and he said he could maybe make it tomoro..i had to replace everything he did myself (with no leaks i must add) and then he would not refund the money paid up front...cameron is very unproffesional, unreliable and his work is subpar to an unexperienced teenagers skillset. he used 2 gaskets on the outside pool wall....no idea why but it caused it to leak..i would not recommend using this contractor for anything except to show you how not to do things. he would not respond when i asked for a refund due to his leaks and leaving out the required fittings. that says alot about his character...his work and his word are both worthless.

Recent Review: My Hayward motor was ten years old and needed replacement. It was still functioning but was very loud. I called on Monday afternoon and Frank came Tuesday afternoon to investigate what had to be done. He installed the new motor Wednesday afternoon. The new motor is very quiet and the filter is running great.

Recent Review: I received Tony's card from Leslie's Pool Supply in Chesapeake. I contacted him for a quote for pool liner replacement only.   He returned my call within 24 hours and promptly set up a time to do a quote.  He arrived on time and was exceptionally professional.  The quote that Tony provided was $250 below the nearest competitor and included more standard repair work. During the quote I mentioned that I had been trying to get a quote for a small patio area, and had a hard time getting anyone to return my call.  He said that he could do that work as well and would have a quote for me the next work day after he got a quote for the mix.  He called me back promptly with a VERY fair price and said he could start the work right away.  I delayed a week trying to get other quotes, but to no avail.  The only other quote I got was left in my back yard and ended up in the swimming pool.  Tony and I confirmed the details on a Thursday and the following Monday he started the work.  A week and a half later everything was complete and it looks absolutely amazing.  he was very consistent with communicating throughout the entire process and always answered all of my questions quickly. The pool looks like new, and he didn't nickel and dime me with "additional costs".  I would (and will) recommend American Liners to anyone who will listen. Tony knows what it means to be honest and forthright in his business dealings and provides service that I have not seen in a long time.  Highly recommended!

ACay's Pool And Concrete
Absolute A+++.     From the time I sat down  with Leo to actually taking the first splash in our new pool, Leo and his guys were top notch.  He actually took the time to show us many of his finished pools in the area and let us speak to previous customers on their pool installation experience.  In my opinion, this personal interaction was very helpful for us to make our decision.  Leo is very reliable and returns phone calls promptly.  As you can see from pictures below, his work is the best, second to none. I absolutely would recommend him and his company for all pool, pavers, and concrete and outdoor beautification projects first before any others.

Tony and his crew were amazing! Tony is a true professional in every sense of the word. From the way he conducted our estimate, the work done and his follow-up! I found American Liners on Angies' List and went with them because of the reviews and they lived up to their A+ rating. The price was competitive and very fair. We got three quotes and Tony's was in the middle but definitely worth choosing. Tony is the owner. He is professional, extremely knowledgable, friendly and truly cares about his customers - even after the install. We highly recommend American Liners.

We had to replace the 10 years old liner in our pool. The young man, Tony was very professional, punctual and friendly. His price was very reasonable and we don't doubt he would have done an excellent job if we had hired him. I appreciated the time he spent with us and his honesty. We would do business with him in a heartbeat, we had to go with a different company though because of some warranty issues from previous installation.

It was a pleasure working with the owner Mike.  He was prompt in responding to our initial call.  His inspection of our pool was extremely thorough.  We plan to have him fix the issues he discovered on his inspection.

FParadise Aquatics
Buyer beware: Paradise Aquatics has filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on February 28th, 2018. In my opinion, I would be very cautious upon offering any advance payments to this company. Court records show estimated assets of $500k to $1million and liabilities of $1million to $10million dollars. They have various judgements throughout southeast Virginia, Oregon, and $68k in Maryland. The filing also says he owes various pool suppliers over $200k. He recently moved from his store in Chesapeake, and also has a claim most likely related to this move; listed as “lease deficiency” for $18k. IMPORTANT NOTE: He has also collected deposits for new jobs while he was actively preparing to file bankruptcy, some of these people have not been able to get in touch with the owner. We signed the contract with a former salesman on 8/20/2016 and the estimated start date was 12/15/16. I began calling around the middle of December and finally got a hold of Paul the first week of January, he said that he would be coming out on Sunday to lay out the pool, he arrived two hours past his scheduled time, and said they would be out within two days to dig the pool. No work took place for two weeks, and I finally got a hold of someone else, who said that it would be at least another week before coming. It was at this point I realized, Paradise is really good about calling you back to collect a stage payment of $15k. (for digging a hole, easy money) After repeated calls and emails I found out that Paul was out for 60 days, and unable to have communication with anyone. After finally visiting their store, I was told that the walls would be there around 2/9/2017, and wasn’t delivered until 3/1/2017. At this point they had collected $20k including the deposit from us, and they hadn’t been back to our home in 45 days. (they did the high profit portion of digging the hole). They finally came and assembled the walls and when I asked about a footer inspection they said it was done, even though the request wasn’t submitted until a few days later. I came home one day and realized they had switched to clear glue from blue glue and used no primer, when I asked Paul about it he said it needs no primer, when confronted with the can he said they used clear primer, then said if it holds when they start the pump up its good enough and had to follow no plumbing codes. (I later purchased the fittings and glue myself to redo this) I called Paul on a Friday and he texted that “he would call me in a few,” I repeatedly tried to get in touch with him later that day and he wouldn’t answer. I texted him that I would meet him at his shop to discuss the problems, and he called me to say that he would be at our home at 12pm. After calling and texting him for two hours, I wrote him that I was coming to the shop on a busy Saturday, and magically Paul called me and said he would be there soon and made a mistake on his calendar. Paul showed up in his nice Corvette and the meeting with him was met with much anger and confrontation on his part, and my neighbors heard him swearing and yelling at us. We confronted him about many things including the 125k heater he tried to substitute for a 140k btu that was on his contract (which he said he didn’t have to change, which I said I didn’t have to pay), the jobsite being a total disaster for 75 days with no progress. Two weeks went by and we were unable to get any answers, so we posted a message and pictures of the job on their Facebook wall. Which led them to remove their ratings option on facebook. But Paul finally did text me back, encouraging me to be sure to tell everyone how he upgraded me to a variable speed pump at no charge. (I did post screenshots of this which they deleted after a few days. The only reason he changed the pump was because the pump his company was going to install was only 1.5 horsepower and I let him know it was too small. The new pump is 3horsepower.) It was then we began receiving other messages from other customers that are experiencing the same issues. He followed up with a phone call the next day swearing at me for posting on facebook and I let him know that it got him to call me, and he said if I did it again he would not finish the pool, but he doesn’t really care what people say about him because he does quality work and has a good reputation. He wouldn’t let me talk or ask any questions about the schedule so I told him to finish the pool or else he was going to be on the news and hung up. The next morning, he had two guys come and clean the jobsite for three hours. This was after I had spent several hours moving around the piles of dirt they had left everywhere. The plumbing was soon completed and the liner was dropped around 5/8/2017. We asked countless times for the 24 hour pressure text but was finally met with an email from Paul’s wife Kim, that turning the equipment on for 30 minutes before backfilling was adequate enough to see if there is a problem. At this point we had been asking for 4 months for the electrical price, which was finally delivered to my email, which was far more than what we had discussed before. I felt like I was behind held hostage for him to complete our pool. Once the concrete was finally poured 6/12/2017, they called asking for completion payments. I refused because we had not received the cover, actuator, and a light that was not installed. Paul personally came out and delivered the cover and installed the actuator in an effort to receive a completion certificate. Then came the issues that turned into litigation: -Brand new swimming pool liner installed May2017, (did I mention he brought 2 other liners, that were cut up and thrown away, before he got the correct size?) We hired American Leak detection after Paul said that his company does not do leak detection and we would have to pay them directly and he would reimburse us if the problem was with the construction of the pool. The diver found a hole in the liner behind the track that secures the liner to the fiberglass steps. This cost us $445 - The contract stated that the total electrical run included was only 50’. We were responsible for the extra work by the electrical subcontractor for the actual cost plus 10%. Almost 5 months into the project I was told that no work would continue on the pool until I paid $3,245 up-front for the “extra electrical work per contract”. (I felt like I was held hostage) I was told multiple times that if I dug the electrical trench that it would save me a lot of money, and it wasn’t until I was done that he wouldn’t continue work until I paid for the electrical “per the contract”. According to the electrical permit filed by the electrician the job was only for $1100, and I believe that Paul did not follow the terms of the contract of cost plus 10%. -When Paul presented the final invoice to me he showed a balance of $4,716. Which was paid on 6/30/2017. After reconciling my notes, I believe that he purposely lumped everything into a miscellaneous category to obscure hidden charges, and overcharged me $953.84 from the original contract price. - Paradise missed a critical “pool grid or equipotential bonding” inspection (after receiving a certificate of completion from paradise), which I know was not installed. We did have a “bonding” inspection which is simply a copper wire that goes around the pool to connect the handrails to the pump motor to prevent something similar to a static shock. The pavers had to be removed to install a wire that would have cost Paradise $100, and us thousands of dollars in labor and wasted material because Paradise wouldn’t pay. When I confronted Paul about this he said he was not responsible and I didn’t even need the wire to pass final inspection. He also told me that “I don’t know who you think you are or who you are talking to, but you will not talk to me like that! I will not pay for the removal of your pavers check your contract!” (I did check the contract and it does not say he isn’t responsible.) At this point I let him know that I was going to proceed with filing suit, and he went off about how I would never win against him. He did call the building inspector and frantically tried to contact me for many days after this, and I refused to answer any calls from him as advised by my attorney. Paul McQueen or his registered agent didn’t bother showing up to court, and they were properly served. We won the judgment which has been difficult to collect, but I will seek legal justice, and make sure that others don’t experience this disaster. When Paul McQueen said “I don’t know who you think you are or who you are talking to…,” I have made it my mission in life to show him who I am. I would not recommend this company to many worst enemy, but fortunately we have made many friends who have experienced the same nightmare with Paradise Aquatics. If you would like further information about Paradise be sure to check how many open building permits thru freedom of information requests with the various localities or Ebuild and the active and pending judgments, they have.

FPOOLS BY BAXTER
We contacted Pools by Baxter to install an in ground pool in 2007.  The person quoted us a price and dates to install the pool.  They were very quick to come out and dig a giant hole in our yard, but it sat there for several weeks before any further work was done.  We had surprise costs come up that were not discussed fully (ground water, etc).  The salesperson recommended against a saltwater pool, because it "eats away" at the pool.  We later realized the reason they recommend against this is because they want you to spend $1,000 or more a season for chemicals.  They also recommended against the pool cover we wanted (the strong cover that you can walk across), and we realized that was because they sell you a pool cover that is impossible to install, so you get frustrated enough to call them and pay them to install it for you.  The pool did not pass inspection in June because Pools by Baxter neglected to install the necessary electrical outlet within 20 feet of the pool perimeter.

Mike and his helper did an excellent job removing our 11 year old above ground swimming pool. They were organized, very professional and well equipped and prepared for the task. They carefully deconstructed the pool and rock boarder and removed everything, leaving the site pristine so that we can have a gazebo installed on the site! We were very pleased with the quality of their work and would recommend them highly!
