Recent Review: Brian provided me with an estimate for this work as well as some additional finishing work for my attic.  After agreeing on price Brian scheduled a day about a week out for him to come out and do the crown molding work.  He completed the job in one day and it looks great.  Brian was very professional.  He arrived on time, gets to work immediately, and you would hardly even know he was there.  I was very happy with the work on the Crown Molding and have hired him to complete the additional work in my attic which includes trimming out some windows and building a window seat.  I will comment on that work separately once complete. (Update 10/03) Work was completed this week on the attic, which included building a window seat with storage, trimming out two windows, and creating a table top / shelf on a ledge used to hide the air ducts.  Everything looks fantastic and was completed on time.  I would, and most likely will, hire Brian to complete any of my future carpentry needs.

Recent Review: I have never had such a positive experience with a contractor.  Mr. Trogdon came for the estimate and had it to us exactly when he said.  Dave and his helper installed the crown molding.  They were here right on time, worked hard and were finished promptly.  The molding is fabulous.  Rahim came to do the painting.  We have a lot of molding to paint, 2 story ceiling and walls.  He was here early in the morning and worked hard all day for two days.  Everyone was very professional, neat, did fantastic work and I would definitely have them back anytime.  Mr. Trogdon was always very responsive.  One thing he does that I love is he sends you a picture and the names of his people coming to your house.  He is very easy to work with.  Rahim and Dave are incredible.  I can't say enough about them. The actual dates were 8/23,28,29/2013

ATrogdon Enterprises
I needed help with cutting and installing crown molding in my living room and part of the kitchen.  I tried it myself first but I could not get it right so I researched Angie's list and found Trogdon Enterprises. They had good reviews so I purchased the big deal - Contractor for a day for $299.  The contractor arrived on time and introduced himself as Greg.  I explained what I wanted done and had all the materials ready.  Greg started setting up right away and started cutting the molding.  At first, the angles were not fitting right for the contractor either.  Then we realized the ceiling and walls were off slightly off due to the house settling over the years.  Greg did additional work of fastening part of the ceiling to the frame of the house (the ceiling drywall was loose).  Once this was done, the crown molding angles fit perfectly.  The job was somewhat of a challenge as I have an older home that I am remodeling and needed someone with carpentry skills.  After Greg cut and installed all the molding, he caulked the molding.  We are very pleased with the work and glad we found a contractor that had the necessary skills to do the job.  Greg asked if everything looked good and if I was satisfied with the work.  Greg cleaned up the job site before he left.  I would hire Trogdon Enterprises again.

CHANDYMAN MATTERS
First off they charge by the hour; Charlie told me it required two people to accomplish the job, so I paid twice the rate ($148 p/h). I purchased the crown molding and chair rail from Home Depot, the clerk there said it should take no longer than 2.5 to 3 hours. I paid these guys for 4 hours and they didn't get halfway done (I say this because the chair railing had two boards to it and the crown molding has just one board), they almost completed the crown molding but they ran two feet short. I measured twice and bought approximately 4 linear feet more than was needed but they still came up short on the crown molding and I had to buy more. My wife was home and everything was cleaned by the time I came home so I didn't get to see how much scrap wood they ended up with. They did a pretty good job on the portion they did complete so I asked if they would come back out to finish and they told me that I needed to rent a 12 inch miter saw and told me a table to put in on would be nice. A friend of mine loaned me his 10 inch miter saw (which was the size they had) and I was easily able to complete the job by myself in a morning. They estimated 3 hrs but I stopped them at 4 hrs., at the rate they were going it would have cost me $1800 for a job they originally estimated under $450.00.

Initially these guys were great.  Unfortunately, when I called after the painting, etc. was done and asked them to come back and fix some things that needed a little more attention, I never heard from them again.  A shame...I thought they would be better than that.

AHere2Help
Everything went extremely well. Both of our schedules were hectic, but Jason was flexible, always in contact via e-mail and/or phone, provided options (e.g., dates/times avail., etc), and even willing to work on a weekend (which we just wouldn't accept, as we knew our schedules would align eventually). Jason was prompt, efficient, professional, and pleasant to work with on this project.

Marc was referred to us from another contractor. He was great to work with. He showed up on time to the appointment and took detailed measurements of each area that needed work. He carefully reviewed the cost estimates with me prior to purchasing any materials. Once I approved the estimates, he got to work. The molding and chair rails were installed within one day. His craftsmanship was excellent and he had a professional demeanor. He cleaned up after himself and did not damage any walls despite carrying enormous pieces of wood throughout our house.
