It took several iterations of mistakes to realize the calamity of this vendor. I could go on about his inability to deliver, poor quality of subs, inability to manage subs and finances. But in the end, he avoid every question about finances, resolution to issues created by subs, and avoided until the end of the project where he then refused to fix any mistakes left by subs. He charged us for all mistake subs and full price for all initial costs. Negotiated refunds with the vendors, never passing to us on a cost plus fee contract. Our contract forced mediation, he drug his feet for 10 months to get this on the calendar. Once we did we were so exhausted that our binder of 500 pages would have won probably won us in court, but we could not emotionally bear putting any more effort into rehashing the awful state our new home was in. We just wanted to move forward and fix the estimated $80K in damages he left us. Including us having to plan for a move-out to repair our major drywall and paint debacle - 12 weeks for installation, not one straight corner in the house, visible mud lines everywhere on ceilings and walls, dirty walls painted with thinned and watered down cheap paint; (removal of fixtures to support the repair); other items the short list: all interior doors - warranty not maintained due to improper sealing, not one hung square or plum & all dripped with paint and stroke marks, short laid roof tiles and wrongly installed drip edge, improper/no roof ventilation over garage for finished bonus space, stone work improperly installed, installation of water circulator pump and soaking tub plumbed along a wall with non-water proofed drywall leaving no room to for cleaning (just waiting for mold); Mold cut out of garage drywall due to installation issues. And that is just the major things. He did not listen to any of our requests. Including putting the HVAC units on the back of the house, they are on the side when you drive up, 2-3 front steps we have barely one, centralizing HVAC and water units, floors completed before cabinets dropped. He lied about anything we asked regarding oddities and had a solution for it, never implemented. Somehow passed code with a 9 1/2" step on our workshop doors. Which we called out early that it was off and he said there would be a ramp. No ramp was ever installed. His contract, even after our first lawyer reviewed, was illegal. We chose not to pursue having his license revoked as to spare ourselves more anguish. But we want others to know, not to use him. He was to retire, but due to taking a loss on our home we hear he is trying to build again. Buyer BEWARE! We are not the first, just the most vocal, as we are not from the South.
