AStoneworks of Virginia
Quick, clean, and very good prices. The stone was handpicked local mountains. Beautiful stone looks like a stone foundation due to thickness, use of REAL stone, and craftsmanship of the talented masons. The crew paid particular attention to drainage from siding and maintain flow off siding. Work is guaranteed with no complaints after 2+ years from install date. Neighbors had similar work done with this company but with much larger foundation.

APaul Robbins Woodworking Co
The job went well. There was more work that expected but Mr. Robbins was able to deal with the changes with his customary care and he finished in a timely way. Mr. Robbin's does good quality work - he is careful, accurate and finishes the job as contracted. He is responsive, he showed up when he said he would and has a professional manner. His estimates of time and cost are accurate.

AD&E Home Improvements
The bathroom was more beautiful and functional than I could have imagined.  This is an old house and much time had to be spent leveling the floor and walls.  The tall ceiling was lowered, the tub was removed for a full, walk-in, accessible shower and bathroom with grab bars, a custom cabinet and hamper were installed, and ADA accessible toilet and accessible sink.  Despite the accommodations, the room looks as though it belongs in a spa!  The floor and walls are tiled, we have an adjustable shower head with hand held options, built in tile seat, and 2 built in cubbies for his and her shampoo, etc.  We could not have been happier with the work.

ABLUE RIDGE CONSTRUCTION
Earl installed two storm doors and a french door inside the house. He had to cut the latter into a non-bearing wall. I have a very non-traditional house, and he was meticulous in figuring out what needed to be done, executing the job, and finishing it well. He left the site very clean after work each day, and did a fantastic job. Dealing with Angie in scheduling the job was a pleasure. She is professional, detail oriented, and responsive. I had an incredibly positive experience and would highly recommend Blue Ridge Construction.

AD&E Home Improvements
Work began on time, with prompt arrivals each morning.  Daily updates of progress / considerations / suggestions / challenges.  Extra services needed and identified as work progressed included cleaning of attic space, installation of insulation, new well pump, drain snake, fireplace facing with stone, and many other items that enhanced the quality of service. Extremely pleased with quality of painting, amount of pre-work to assure good adhesion of pain, and fantastic clean-up at end of day.  Greatest unexpected need was the well pump going out during last week of services.  They worked into the evening to make sure we had water, which included installing the new pump in the dark and with the temperature being less than 40 degrees.  I would HIGHLY recommend this company for any of your home improvment needs.

AVailes Bros Inc-Remodel
Outstanding job from design, demolition, and completion. Craftsmen were top of the line, polite, professional, and executed the work flawlessly. Very impressive job; love the new bath area and couldn't be happier. Highly recommend; best in this area, in my opinion, to include 50 mile radius or more.

AE Heatwole Construction LLC
Ed Heatwole is excellent contractor! He took our ideas, offered suggestions if he had better way to do something and finished the work beyond our expectations. He finished under budget and we are totally satisfied. Ed is one you can totally trust. We would recommend him to anyone needing renovation or new construction. We had some new products we wanted used in our construction. He adapted to the new ideas and handled them. Ed did interior renovations: moving walls, moving doors, interior window and door trim. He added a pantry and utility room into our over sized garage. The subs he brought in to work on the house were very good as well. They were experienced, did the work as agreed upon - or better. These were roofing, plumbing, drywall, masonry work, excavating and guttering. He has a very good list of subs from which to draw and they were professional and courteous. He added a large screened in porch with pediment roof. He used a new "invisible screening" product. He added a deck off the porch and a balcony off our master bedroom. We think he is a contractor's version of a Boy Scout (Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Cheerful, Thrifty, Reverent). The figure of $58,000 paid to Ed Heatwole does not include monies paid directly to sub contractors, nor for items purchased directly. We consider Ed Heatwole a good friend.

AD&E Home Improvements
Dave was great to work with from the outset. He provided a fair estimate, and stuck to the agreed budget through the entire project. This was a huge job, and Dave understood how important it was to maintain the home's historic feel. We've now lived in the home for three months, and my wife still raves about it every day. I couldn't recommend anyone more highly than Dave Hall.

DBranner Builders Inc
Branner builders used an out of state crew to assemble my modular home and stick build the garage which in my opinion was problematic as they appeared to be in a hurry to forget the job done in order to get home, and they knew they wouldn't be called back to address any workmanship issues. After receiving the Certificate of Occupancy I never saw Mike Branner again, he never returned to inspect any of the significant issues on the punch list. Some minor punch list items were resolved promptly by the Branner Builders handyman, one significant item required two complaints to the Better Business Bureau to obtain action and is still not resolved. Some of the more significant issues on the punch list included a chimney leak, the source of which was never found by the handyman resulting in me having to hire a chimney company to find and stop the leak. The drywall installed by Branner Builders was a problem from the start and is still a problem 3 years later; shortly after installation, we experienced separation at the seams and cracks at multiple locations as well as the walls in the stairwell leading to the second story bowing inward. After a significant amount of time and effort on my part to have the drywall issues addressed, Mike Branner sent his drywall guy out several times over a 3 year period each time resulting in thick drywall mud being applied only to have the cracks, separations, and bowing reappear in a matter of a few months. All of the drywall issues have returned since the last attempted repair and I'm still waiting to hear back from Mike Branner on a final resolution. Shortly after the 1 year warranty expired, I notified Mike Branner about a previously unseen leak above my garage door that was causing mold and wood rot so while his handyman was on site repairing other outstanding punch list items, he applied caulk around the garage door in an attempt to stop the leak, however it did not fix the leak. Frustrated that it was still leaking, I had a different builder inspect the garage door opening and he found a gap in the J-Channel with no sealant, and no flashing around the door opening; after providing this information to Mike Branner he said his attorney advised him not to fix the workmanship issues. My advice to anyone hiring Branner Builders to assemble a modular home or stick built custom home is this: play a very active role in all stages of construction; visit the building site often; demand quality work - if something looks like a shortcut it probably is; don't rely solely on the city/county building inspector, hire a third party building inspector to assess workmanship at various stages of construction (can't stress this enough, it will cost more initially but will pay huge dividends in the end); remember to continually inspect the home to uncover any issues as soon as possible. Most, if not all workmanship issues are the result of shortcuts and tend to not show themselves until after the warranty has expired and the damage is done, leaving you holding the bag. I also recommend not distributing the final payment to the builder until all the significant punch list items are repaired. Once you've distributed the final payment you have no leverage in getting satisfaction on the repairs.
