Recent Review: After an estimate and quality check, the contractor replaced our front porch railing and siding with all-seasonal plastic molding.  The entire project took 2-3 days, and overall it looks great.  My only concern was that there was almost a 4-6 week delay from when we approved the estimate to when the work was actually performed.  All team members were professional and the work was done to our specifications think the price paid was a little on the high side, but overall we were pleased with this upgrade to our house front.  Would recommend this group again for future exterior work.

Recent Review: Dennis met with me several times going over the design of the project and after signing the contract said he would begin work in 3 weeks.  The project was begun and finished on schedule and the professionalism and workmanship was fantistic.  The pavilion is a beautiful addition to my home and yard and we love entertaining on it. It is admired by all my friends.

Recent Review: I've worked with Troy and Mark on two jobs. The first was a smaller job to install railings on my front porch. I could tell right away their workmanship was excellent, and I was impressed with how Troy worked through unexpected obstacles that came up during the process. I was thrilled with the railings - they tied into the existing porch perfectly and looked like they'd always been there! I then hired Troy for a much larger job, involving converting a small bedroom into a bathroom, and converting an existing small bath into a laundry room. Once again, Troy and Mark were great throughout the process. This job took the room all the way down to the studs, and my house is quite old, so a lot of carpentry needed to be done to get the new room to be level and square. They clearly know their craft and are complete professionals! They managed the demolition, framing, installed insulation, drywall, flooring, and doors, and they also coordinated with all the sub-contractors. The site was cleaned up and left safe after each day, which I appreciated especially as the job got messy. Again, Troy worked through the inevitable unexpected hurdles and always came up with good solutions. Troy was also flexible in working with me, as I wanted to do most of the finish work myself, and we kept in close communication throughout the 6 weeks of work. The job came in on-time and on-budget, and I absolutely love my new spaces! It's great to have confidence and security knowing that everything is so well-built. On a personal note, I also really appreciated that, as a woman living alone, I never felt uncomfortable with Troy and Mark (and their sub-contractors) in my home, and could always trust them to be respectful of me and my space. I definitely recommend Troy-Bilt for anyone's remodeling job!

Recent Review: Everything was top notch from the original estimate to the finished product.  Mike and Andy, who did the work, were amazing. They replaced far more spindles than originally estimated.  They were very detail oriented.  Mike essentially rebuild our porch rail rather than just repainting it. It's hard to find this kind of pride in workmanship! They also stuck to the original estimate although they used more material than originally estimated.

Recent Review: They did a great job!!  I got quotes from the 3 major home improvement companies in our area (the ones everyone uses).  Regal wasn't the lowest (they were in the middle), but they agreed to match the lowest quote & they also were the best about returning calls & showing up when they said they would - which seems to be a problem for a lot of contractors in Richmond.  I worked with Art Mullian & was very specific with him in going through the details of the job and what was included in their quote.  I asked a lot of questions & probably made a real nuisance of myself but he was great about it & wrote up the bid exactly as we discussed.  He also gave us references and my wife & I checked out some of their past jobs in our area.  Regal's work seemed good, so we went with them & I'm really glad we did.   The houses in our neighborhood originally had that compressed paperboard siding & I can't express how much I hated it.  If the whole house wasn't painted every 2 or 3 years, then moisture got in the cracks & the cardboard siding would start to fall apart.  I'd been planning for years to replace it all with HardiePlank but it's a big job.  Hardie is expensive but absolutely worth it because it lasts so long & we used the pre-colored type so I won't even have to paint anything for at least 15 years.  I love this stuff.  Regal used PVC & some non-Hardie materials for the insulation & trim replacement to save some expense, and that was fine with me too.  Their crew showed up on time every day, worked through some of the hottest days of the year, and still got the job done quickly.  And it looks fantastic!!   It really makes the house look great & I love knowing that it will stay that way a long time. I can't say enough good stuff about Regal & its crew.  Since this was a big investment, I was really worried, but they were very responsive to my questions, explained their plans & why things were done certain ways, and fixed things right away the few times I wanted to make changes during the job.  They also cleaned up really well & didn't leave my yard a wreck.  I would definitely use them again. I also had them replace my old wrought iron front railing at the same time they did the siding.  Some of the posts were broken off at the bottom & rusted.  It was way past due.  They did a great job on that as well.  The new railing is solid as a rock.  Regal also handled removing all outside lighting & re-attaching everything once the new siding was up.  It all went very smoothly.

Recent Review: Steve is an Albemarle County Fire Fighter who works part-time as a handyman.  He was referred to me by a housing inspector.  His work is, in a word, superb.  He grew up in a professional carpentry family and his knowledge of wood-working and painting is extraordinary.  Throughout the estimation process he made several suggestions for 'fixes' and/or methodology I never even considered.  He didn't do this to just 'jack up the price' but to improve the final results.  Basically, tell him what you want, listen to his suggestions, agree on a price, then let him work.  I was very impressed.  He was always on time, always polite and always kept us posted as to progress.  He is a bit high in price (not the highest I've seen around here though) but worth every penny.  The saying that 'you get what you pay for' is clearly true with Steve.  Be aware that he has to schedule work around his Fire Fighter duties, but as long as you're not in an absolute hurry, it's not a problem.  Steve is a gem.

Recent Review: I originally hired Kevin Williams in June 2011 to remove an old shed and and all of the building materials and debris my husband left behind when he moved out. Not only were his rates reasonable but he worked so fast and did a great job that I hired him to do all of the things I wanted done to transform my house into my home. He painted a couple of rooms, put up porch rails, a privacy fence, crown molding, replaced locks, replaced the front door and screen, put up porch light and flood light, replaced light fixtures, moved thermostat, replaced my hot water heater, cleaned gutters, dug up my broken cement walkway, landscaping, and on and on. Next he will be laying tiles on my kitchen floor and putting up a french door to my living room. Kevin took ownership of the project and with his creative input and excellent workmanship, my house is now my home. I consider Kevin to be Central Virginia's undiscovered gem.

Separate teams addressed different parts.  A carpenter group did the porch railings. A different group focused on the chimney problems, The painters did the rest. We recognize that the job was more expensive then we had originally intended but, considering the complexity and magnitude of the job, we believe the price was appropriate for the job. We had originally underestimated the problems that existed in a 16 year old house. We will call on them again for any maintenance work needed in the future.

Amazing! Troy showed up when he said he would, did the job he promised, and followed up to make sure we were happy with the results. He does fantastic work and is very detail-oriented. He charged us by the job, not by the hour, and yet he still took his time with the project to make sure it was done well. He is honest, hard-working, and skilled. What more could we ask for? I would not hesitate to hire Troy for future projects and have already recommended him to neighbors and family members. Great job!!!

Met several times during the proposal phase, reps were punctual, very professional. Quote was detailed and comprehensive, delivered in a timely fashion. Window replacement was excellent. The new windows matched perfectly on the exterior. The other carpentry repairs were also very well done.  Only point of dissatisfaction was the painting, which I'd only give a 'C+' for. Generally the work was ok, but several times the painting crew did not show up as promised, and then had to be called back several times for touch ups. The touch ups required should have been obvious to someone concerned about the results of their work. There were also many spills, paint drips, small missed areas, sloppy cut it. Finally just stopped asking for them to come back. Worse was that on one occasion during a cleaning up, a parked car was specked with paint, apparently from "flicked" brushes nearby. Fortunately this washed off, and the company promptly addressed this with the painting crew. Generally the painting crew didn't seem much concerned about the details.

ARegal Home Improvement
Carpentry crew arrived first and on the expected day to demolish and replace screened-in porch stairs.  New stairs with two landings and sturdier posts were built in three days.  Crew also installed a new screen door perfectly (and that wasn't even on the list originally!)  Crew also replaced all the screening and fitted vinyl over old wooden slats.  Exterior of the porch looks new now They then replaced our kitchen window.  The new window keeps the kitchen so much warmer. Next, the siding team came and began work on installing siding to the house.  It's a three-story home, including a tall chimney and dormer window above the roof, so there was a lot of scaffolding and ladders involved!  This work took about 5-7 days.  We are very pleased with the look of the siding and our house is a lot warmer this winter.  We've had many compliments from our neighbors about how pretty the house looks now with the new siding.  We also had the front porch railings and posts replaced with white vinyl pieces.  This also looks so fresh and pretty with the new siding. Overall, we were very pleased with all the work Regal did on our home.  We had no problems with any of the work being completed in a timely manner or with the clean up.  They even swept up our driveway to clean the sawdust and vinyl clippings.

AChris Jackson's Contracting
I found Mr. Jackson's company through Angie's List. I am the Executor of my late father's Estate, and I live in Virginia. Mr. Jackson performed the work on my father's house in a timely manner; his prices are fair; the quality of the work is excellent; he made additional repairs on an emergency basis. His associates, who performed some of the work on the house, also did a very good job. In addition, Mr. Jackson consistently displayed a thoroughly professional approach while also understanding my situation and sympathizing about my father's death. Since then, I have employed Mr. Jackson in repairs and renovations to my own property in Pittsburgh. I would recommend him and his company to anyone.

I wanted to completely re-do my deck - thinking of the future and of my future health concerns as I had already fallen down the stairs twice and could not afford to do so again. I contacted Troy~Bilt ~Construction. Troy came to the house, listened to my concerns and also listened to my ideas. I wanted a deck with low maintenance and one in which I would not fall down the stairs again. After a discussion, a plan was decided upon for the deck, a platform, some stairs and a ramp ? everything one could want or needed in a deck for the future. He provided an estimate stating that he would have to check the going costs and provide a more firm estimate. Troy was a down to earth individual and presented a professional bearing. He provided a reference list and said he would call me back regarding actual cost. I did call people on his reference list and all confirmed that he was indeed a professional honest contractor. I notified him that I wished to employ his services. He produced a contract which was well written but not full of the gobby-g*** of lawyers, but one that simply stated what he was going to do, how he was going to do it and when. He immediately went to work and he and his helper came every day, worked throughout the day and was no problem what so ever. Both were polite, caring and stayed to their work. Every evening they cleaned the area up before they left. He always stayed in touch explaining what he was doing and why. There were several places where my idea proved to be impossible but Troy was patient, understanding and explained several other options that he could do to achieve the same objective. I am well pleased with the outcome. I have a beautiful deck with three stairs to a small platform, which includes a handrail for stability. On the platform, there is a place for flower boxes which complement the deck. A ramp extends from the platform to the driveway and the handrails just set it off. It is absolutely beautiful. I know I will be able to enjoy my deck for years to come. I am glad that I did hired Troy~Bilt~Construction for my deck and would hire him again. I highly recommend him to anyone who wants reputable professional work.
