Recent Review: I would like to acknowledge Kevin, his company K&W Painting, LLC, and crew for doing a fine job. He gave us an estimate, right away, started on time and finished on time. He did everything he said he would do for the price he quoted us and even replaced a broken light bulb and fixed parts on a shade that fell when they were painting. He accomplished this during a difficult time for his family with a sick new born baby in the hospital! He is now working next door for our neighbor, she was so impressed with the professional way he did his prep and painted.  He also left all the left over paint for us! The home was built in 1932 and is not without character. Kevin and his crew were clean and meticulous. We couldn't be happier, and have hired him for another job.

.A year ago February, they did our drywall. They are here and are established. They do a good job. We used him 4 years ago and last year. It was February. After the bathroom got finished, They did our master suite. They were fast, they were efficient and they cleaned up after.

CABBOTT DRY WALL
Gene Abbott is a very nice man, but he takes too long to do the job. He loves to talk, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but the amount of wasted time was breathtaking. After the initial drywall installation on day 1 with his 2-man crew, he returned four more times - each time for 3 or 4 hours! He finally said he was done and I wrote him a check. He had smoothed the walls with a sponge and said they were ready for paint, but after taking a closer look, it clearly needed a final sanding. Also, the holes around receptacles and light switches were jagged and too large. Rather than have him come back and have to spend another 3 or 4 hours (?) in my house to feather out the walls, I did this myself. I didn't call him back. I hesitated to write this because he's such a nice guy. I do believe that he can do great drywall work, and if I had called him back, I believe he would've done the finish sanding I needed. I just didn't have the time to spend with him, and I didn't want a contractor in my house unescorted.

Work was done on existing drywall that was damaged and needed patching and replacement. There was also a damaged window sill. Workers came on several different days. Some were prompt and courteous while others were not timely. The quality of work done was very good and still looks nice 6 months later. The billing process was easy but one worker overbilled for time not worked. Owner resolved that problem quickly and to our satisfaction.

AABBOTT DRY WALL
I checked Angie's List for drywall contractors and found Abbott Drywall at the top of the list. I called and Gene Abbott came out that afternoon to make an estimate. He has well over twenty years experience of installing drywall and gave me references. He said that he could start work within a few days which hardly left us time to box /sack books, bedding, pictures etc and move furniture and other items into the garage. He arranged to have a builing contrator friend carry away a custom build ping pong table and move the furniture and heavy items for no charge! As committed, he started work within a few days. He took down the lighting fixtures and removed/disposed of the ceiling tiles and molding and prepared the structure for hanging of the drywall. The drywall was delivered on Friday at 5:00 p.m. and his hanger arrived withing an hour and finished hanging the material by 9:30 p.m.!! The following day, Gene taped the joints between the sheets and walls. Over the next couple of days he sanded and applied finish coats of compound. We are very satisfied with the finished job which was completed within a week of first calling him. He also recommended a painter who was able to start the same day he completed his cleanup. He is a professional and I would use him if I ever needed similar work.

AWFUL.  These guys subbed the work to a non-licensed contractor, Andy VanAlstine.  It took the crew over 10 weeks to drywall and they did not mud the lines properly.  At times Andy's teenage son was working.   In order to make up time, they had their paint sub, Mays Painting, sanded and then applied paint on dirty walls with no primer and diluted the paint.  We came to find out later, they used low grade flat paint and mixed several colors.  So instead of one color paint, we have four shades of brown in the same rooms.  There were areas of trim never sanded and some not painted. We repeated asked our builder and his son (acting foreman) to fix the situation.  We were assured another crew and more skilled would be put on the drywall job.  They never were.  We released the crew and noticed troul marks, joint lines, squiggly lines, bumps and soft spots throughout the house, no straight corners anywhere.  They sent back the owner/manager John.  Who began pencil marking EVERY wall and ceiling as they needed repair, amplifying the problems. They sanded the garage floor to get paste off (it looked like birds had been living in our new home).  The crew was careless from everything from garage door openers to ladders on the newly finished hard wood floors. We had issues with our builder who stalled for 10 months and were not given any resolution.  Owners John and Nathan told us they hadn't been paid and when we settled with our builder, as part of our settlement they were to have been paid in full and work with us on resolution to the issues.  Upon verification that they were paid for the job taking our money in full .  They refused to make any repairs, stating we had been compensated.  We never saw a repair or dollar towards fixing our $30K problem.  Nor did John or Nathan make any effort to come see the extent of the damage after the first attempt. The damage is astronomical and overwhelming.  They took ZERO responsibility for their part in the workmanship.
