Recent Review: Robbie and his guys, Randy and Chuck did a phenomenal job. First, the price quoted was over $5,000 less than a bigger name company here in Roanoke for the exact same job. The reduced price did not mean we lost quality in the installation, or in the windows and doors. Everything was of great quality and installed well. We couldn't be happier with the end result. Robbie, Randy, and Chuck always showed up on time on the days that they said they would be here, which I greatly appreciated...Nothing is worse than sitting around waiting on someone to show up who decided to work on another job without having the courtesy to tell you that. Robbie said he is able to do this because he only does one job at a time and, again, that was much appreciated. I have small children and having a house torn apart for days/weeks/months is just not an option. Robbie and his guys also made sure that when they left at the end of the day, all their stuff was cleaned up and put away, and they didn't leave a big mess behind for us to clean up, which has happened with other contractors in the past. The guys were also very careful around my kids and very kind to them as well, which I am sure other mothers will appreciate as much as I did. They even started on the downstairs windows on their first morning here so as not to wake my daughter up while she was napping upstairs. Also, we decided last minute that we wanted a specific finish on the hardware of the doors, which were already here and not in that finish. Robbie was very understanding about this and had the new doors ordered right away, without any cost to us. The bottom-line is the windows and doors are beautiful, energy efficient, and they were sealed very well. I would recommend these guys to anyone looking for an good price and a hard working crew who does the job right! We are already having them come back to do some siding work for us later this month.

Recent Review: Our salesman, Jack Ingles was wonderful, was right on the mark with everything, and any changes due to products not available he personally came to us to review.  The people we met including installation guys and supervisors were wonderful and were extremely helpful and honest.  Promises were all met and beyond.  Totally a professional company all around from top to bottom!!  Not to mention great people.

Recent Review: They came out and gave a estimate, we agreed to their estimate and they came out on date promised. We had vinyl replacement windows installed. Excellent job installing our new windows, no mess left , went over how to work the flip in easy to clean feature, done for price quoted. Excellent quality windows, as promised we save on heat and AC bill love the easy to clean, less outside noise coming in . Can't say enough good things about Graeme Andersen and Empire Siding and Windows. Getting ready to call them to have French doors replaced.

Recent Review: Mike and Lou did an excellent job on my basement. Installing stairs didnt sound like it would be much of a job and doesnt sound like it would be a big deal, but there was only one space where the stairs could go. They made it work and my wife and I couldnt be more pleased. I am very picky when it comes to work being performed on my house and most of the time I dread having someone else working on my house. But I was very pleased with the work and will definitely hire them for any future work.

Recent Review: The experience of working with Dollman Construction was unexpectedly pleasant. From the first time meeting Jimmy Dollman, I was impressed by his professionalism, willingness to listen to ideas, and offer his expertise and insight. I also appreciated his patience as we worked through my goals and budget in relationship to what could be done, which meant that we went through several sets of drawings and numerous meetings and phone calls. The Dollman crew that did the actual demolition and construction were also professional, on-time, polite, highly skilled, and hard-working. The detail in the carpentry work was exceptional. The trim in the remodeled addition matches the woodwork in the original part of the house (1920s) beautifully. They also salvaged and reused some stained glass cabinet doors in the kitchen. Overall, they seemed to take pride in work well-done as well as wanting to help keep the character of the house.  Equally importantly, at the end of the day, the worksite was always cleaned up. If on a rare occasion something was missed in the clean-up,  as soon as it was pointed out it was remedied with apologies and never an excuse. As we worked through finishing detail, they also were willing to promptly take care of anything that emerged.  Dollman Construction did a great job.

They are very pricey. They are excellent doors and I was really impressed because the front door made a beautiful difference in my house. I had two small French doors leading out to the back and they chose to put in a small sliding glass door. It is a good door and there isn't anything wrong with it except that when I walk out of that door I have to turn sideways. It doesn't open wide enough for me to walk straight out of it. My grandson loves it. It is sealed good and it is an excellent door but I wondered if there wasn't some way they could have made it wider. The overall service was good but they were a bit pricey. They were punctual but the weather kept them from working a couple of times. The quality of their work was really good and they really did a good job. They were punctual and very professional. I really felt that they knew what they were doing. The guy did say that he had never seen a sliding glass door go in a space that small so we discussed it and I asked his opinion. He told me that they could put in a door that would open and then put in side windows to fill in the extra space. I told him to talk it over with them when he went back. The next thing I knew they did the sliding glass door. It is a good door and I can't complain about it. He said he tried to tell me so there was mixed communication and maybe I didn't put enough input into it. I would look around the next time because of the price.

ADollman Construction, Inc
From day one when they began the demo, to the final touches of paint this has been a wonderful experience.  Dollman Construction cut through the brick walls of my garage and installed beautiful new windows as well as replacing the garage door with french doors and windows on either side.  After framing, the interior walls and ceiling were brought up to code for electric, insulated, boarded and plastered. When I just couldn't decide what type of fans and lighting fixtures to purchase, they guided me through this part of the remodel and I'm beyond thrilled with all of our choices. They installed the flooring and did all the painting as well as making sure I had the numerous electrical outlets that I requested.  The contractor helped me design custom cabinets that run the entire length of the sunroom (over twenty feet).  They built a custom fitted laundry area in the back of the sun room and also built a utility closet to my specifications.  As a change order, they installed a new heating/ac system for me and found a more efficient system than we had originally discussed, thus saving me at least $3000.00. While the sunroom work was going on they were also working on totally remodeling my kitchen. The kitchen demo was quick and painless.  I was never out of the loop on anything, especially the custom cabinets for the kitchen and all of the lighting choices.  There was an unattractive brick wall in the kitchen that needed to be incorporated into the new design and the contractor gladly took on this challenge with the end result being spectacular.  The flooring and painting in the kitchen are fantastic and at all stages through out the build, the crew has kept my home beautifully clean.  They have washed my windows, taken down screens, moved appliances and kept everything neat and tidy. They even removed their shoes when walking across my carpet. Believe it or not, all the time that the sunroom and the kitchen were being created, there was another Dollman crew working on converting my deck into a screened-in porch. This also has been a wonderful experience.  They have installed skylights in the newly built cathedral ceiling that are just perfect and the new roof is a work of art in itself. Initially the screen porch was just a general idea for me, but the contractor took my idea and ran with it, creating an extra living space that I'm still in awe of.  I have to admit that I did change my mind several times throughout the build, but the contractor and all the crew have been wonderful about everything, never promising anything that could not be followed through on. I cannot imagine a more positive experience, and am already planning more changes in the future.  Thanks Angie's List for leading me this company!

FWindow Max Inc
Absolutely the worst contracting experience ever. A total nightmare. Promised us everything and never did anything right. Windows- I told him we had 27, he only counted 25 and had to order 2 more. Slide control for the internal blinds on one sash is missing and they never replaced it. Doors - Sliding glass doors installed backward and never fixed correctly (control pulleys for blinds in the middle and not on the ends). Front door poorly stained and glossy polyurethane slopped on top. Blamed the door manufacturer, got a replacement, again terrible stain job and it sat for 2 years in my garage - never installed. Replaced trim around french doors and never finished or painted it. Kitchen - promised to remove the old flooring but put the new floor over top. Ordered the wrong cabinets, wrong sizes, wrong stain. Told us we would get custom cabinets and we got mostly boxed cabinets. Wrong configurations, depths, etc. Many had to be sent back and some are still not correct. Installed lights in incorrect positions. Put switches and outlets over the counter at different and uneven heights. Placed switches in odd locations. Put in Heat/AC registers in the ceiling - never connected them to the ducts, just left them open to the space above the ceiling. Bathrooms - ordered the wrong cabinets with drawers instead of doors, installed commode with the tank crooked, plumbing for 2 sinks in bathroom was incorrect and we had to pay another contractor to bring it up to code. Was to replace linen closet door and never did. Paint - Hired paint crew that got paint on our wallpaper, floors, carpet and furniture till we demanded they leave our house and not return. Used paint and colors other than our selections. Ruined a ceiling fan and promised to repair it but never did. $$$$ - demanded more money or he would not compete the work. When he had more money than for the work completed, he refused to even start the other bathroom and bedroom parts of the job that were part of the original contract. Would not tell us how much the granite countertops we selected would cost until the very last minute and we were forced to pay much more than budgeted. He got nasty when we pointed out their mistakes and asked them to correct problems. Job was to take 6 weeks and after 6 months they just walked away, refused to answer phone calls or emails. I had to hire another contractor to fix the problems and finish the incomplete parts of the original contract at great expense. Summary - I would not hire Window Max, Kitchen and Bath Max, Braden Miles, Joe Brightwell, or Steve Smith to build a dog house. My advice to anyone considering them would be RUN!!!!!!!!!!! They may give the lowest bid, but you will not get even what you pay for. STAY AWAY from these guys. They are the ones who give contractors a bad name. There are a lot more details to this nightmare, but I think you will get the picture.
