Recent Review: The end product is amazing. The craftsmanship, detail and time Philip devoted was exemplary. I discovered quickly that the cost was a direct result of the amount of work. Philip showed up on time every day, usually worked late, and laid out and dry fit every item before installation. He sanded and finished each piece and worked it together like a jigsaw puzzle. I had been at a loss for months what to do about the loft rails and his design matches the other components of the house perfectly. It cost a lot, it took about a month but like Philip said, it's the first thing you see when you enter the house so it has to make a good impression. It sure does! You can see people immediately focus on the rails when they enter the house. The final product is a work of art. Finally, you must see the detail Philip puts into installing stair treads. Levels each step and each to the next, the result is perfect stairs with no creaks or squeaks, I'm pretty sure they would last a lifetime. This is truly old fashioned craftsmanship and anyone would be proud to have it in their house. Phillip said that in many cases, he is one of the last on the house and people are short on money and try to save money here. I would suggest to anyone building a new house to set aside the 10,000 or whatever up front for this part of the house because it will sell the house. Only certain people are impressed by the Viking range but for the same price you can impress everyone with a practical product that will last the life of the house.

Recent Review: Above and Beyond is the first handyman type firm we call for almost anything. The company and it's owner Mr. Mansfield have never disappointed. They are thorough and never leave a mess. The most recent call they had to cut a couple boards in our driveway. Prior to leaving they used a leaf blower to get all the sawdust off our driveway. This is an excellent company and we highly recommend them

My elderly Mother needed a handrail for her back porch. Acme was quick to respond to my call and the handrail looks very professional. I appreciate the prompt email communications and my overall experience was very positive. I would recommend this business and plan to use them again in the near future.

FPaul Graham Construction
Mr. Graham took our money (thousands) and never finished the remodel, what they did do was horrible and needs to be replaced. Our electrical is wired completely wrong and was deemed a fire hazard by a real electritian....dangerous to my family! He kept giving us sob stories on why he needed more money, and more money until we ended up paying him everything, then he never came back. He lied to us many times. We have now had to contact an attorney and take legal action against him and file a complaint with the state. Strang thing is the state doesn't have a license for a "Paul Graham construction". He may not even have a license, another lie... I would not recommend using him!

A job well done. Some weather related delays but he was able to work around that as well as overnight rental guests. The property is a cabin that was in need of exterior updating. He was prompt to provide an estimate, was flexible with his schedule to accommodate when the cabin was available for work, and communicated when particular aspects of the job were completed. He perhaps took a little longer than anticipated to complete the project but had it finished up the day after I arrived at the cabin for a short stay. The work was complete, quality looks professional and I am very pleased with the end results. The steps he rebuilt look great, however the hand rails have a few rough grooves where the rails are screwed to the spindles. He will come back to smooth out these rough spots and re-stain those areas, so my guests don't get a splinter running there hands down the rails.

Great! I've used this service for several years and several jobs. I try to be very careful who I hire. I want to know that people coming onto my property are licensed, bonded and INSURED! Yes, I did capitolize insured! Two-guys-and-a-truck would have been less expensive. If one of the two guys banged up their hand doing the job, my homeowner's insurance would be liable and have to payout for the medical care! I know life is full of risks but there are some I would rather NOT take. So I pay a bit more and get the type of companies that meet my criteria. I plan to hire The Honey Do Service for other jobs in the future.

CArchadeck of the Tri-Cities
Original pricing for the job was approximately $3,000 less than his competitor with the exact same materials. End cost was the same as his competitor. Job was supposed to start on August 22 and take 3-4 weeks. Job prior to mine was delayed so then it was supposed to start the week before Labor Day--it did not. So then the job did start sometime after Labor Day--I was out of town so I don't know the exact date. When I returned and called Mr. Oliver to express concern over what I perceived as a lack of progress, I was advised that there had been a personnel problem but everything was on schedule. I later found out he was sending a "crew" of 1 to work on my project. When I called again 3 weeks later because I was having a dinner party and there were no steps to access my house (other than through my garage) I was told that there had a been a problem that the right materials had not arrived at the job site. Mr. Oliver even said he was not sure if he had ordered the right materials. I was also informed that the expectation of 3-4 weeks was erroneous and it should be 5-6 weeks. We had the same discussion several times. Everything was finally complete on November 11--about 10 weeks and of course by then, the season had changed-so I look forward to enjoying the porch next year. There were fundamental problems: 1. We only had 3 days of inclement weather during the build so as a customer I saw the delays as a failure of project management. 2. There were several beautiful days that no work occurred on my project. 3. Mr. Oliver robustly maintains that he is not responsible for the right people and materials to be on site to finish a project in a timely fashion. He states these factors are out of his control. 4. For weeks, the only exit I had from my house was the garage this is a safety issue but was not regarded as such. 5. Mr. Oliver maintains that the project was finished in the time frame given. Even given the revised estimate of 5-6 weeks it was still almost 10 weeks. I told Mr. Oliver on 11 November that I would be writing this review. The workmanship on the project is beautiful, and I am sure I will enjoy the porch in the spring-the project management was abysmal. If you are planning to do business with this company, I strong recommend amending his contract to include a timeline and benchmarks as well as penalties for not meeting those benchmarks.

FSame Day Service
If I could rate them less than F, I would. I hired them to rebuild & expand my deck. They said it would take 3 to 4 days to do the job. After 2-1/2 months it still wasn’t done and I finally had to hire another contractor to finish the job and to tear-out and replace a significant amount of the work Same Day Service did because of (what I and the other contractors considered) poor workmanship. There is as noticeable dip in the deck flooring (seemingly the joists were not all installed at the same elevation), the spindles on the railing were not cut to the same length so many of the spindles have significant gaps between them and the railings, the tops of the posts were cut at angles (not flat) so in places there are significant gaps between the tops of the posts and the railings, etc., etc., etc. If you choose to use Same Day Service I recommend you hold-back at least half of the contract price until the job is completed and done to your satisfaction.

I called for estimate and they quickly replied. The work was about 2 weeks out, which I was happy with since my house was just listed on the market. Julie, the office staff, was quick to respond to phone calls and emails. She was very friendly and professional. The guy providing the estimate was friendly and professional and did not rush through the estimate. He wrote down everything I wanted done (the last time I had work done the other company didn't write down everything and forgot some of the work I asked for). The work was completed in less than 2 days. There was one small item outside they forgot to do but when I mentioned it to them they came and fixed it, no questions asked. Some of the estimates I felt were a little high and some seemed fair. I gave them a "C" rating in price because the some of the estimates were a little high but others were fair. I know they have to make a profit, so I know a few things won't be cheap. I have found it difficult to find contractors that will take on very small jobs, so I was very happy with their response time and it was worth the price to me to have the work completely quickly being on the market. They individually priced things so it was easy to eliminate things I thought were too high. I will use them again and would refer them to others.
