Recent Review: We had an absolutely outstanding experience working with United Cabinet Store's team-- I'm a little late submitting the review, but, definitely want to do a shout out for Alex and Dwain who helped us with our project.  We bought a house last fall and needed to revamp the kitchen.  My wife shopped around quite a bit since it was going to be quite an investment -- we found Alex excellent to work with on a number of fronts -- quality, pricing, selection, and, design support.   They turned around drawings pretty quickly and gave us several recommendations on the layout as well as various options that have made life a lot easier.  Once we placed the order, we still ended up making a couple of modifications that Alex was very accommodative on.   I need to post pictures, but we went with a Fino Bronze on the main cabinets and a Wenge/Chocolate for our Island.  When our contractor was installing the cabs, he stated on several occasions that they were absolutely the best quality he had installed in his 20 years of remodeling.  While we ended up with a bit of a snafu on delivery schedule, overall, our experience with Alex was absolutely 5 star, and, when I think about the quality of what we got, and the very 'designer' look, it was absolutely worth it. When you are considering a sizeable investment such as a kitchen remodel -- do yourself a favor, don't focus on lowest price (unless you're just looking to flip a property) -- think about having to live with the kitchen for 20 years -- what will provide you with the durability, functionality, and, a looks that you will enjoy for that timeline.  We got all that and aggressive pricing to boot with United Cabinet Store. Thanks again for everything. Best Regards, Kevin.

Recent Review: Project went very well. Steve was incredibly responsive to messages and e-mails. Since the work was being done at a rental property coordination of site visits are always a little harder then normal but Steve handled it very well and was professional all of the time. Steve showed up when he said he would (for both the estimate visit and ultimately when he did the repair work to the kitchen cabinets and installed the new ventilation hood). I would definitely use him and his firm again for projects in the house.

Recent Review: Ed Friel, who is the owner of the company, came to my home, discussed how I wanted the job done, took measurements and gave me an estimate that same day.  His price was much better than our local Lowe's and I liked the fact that the cabinets were made in Rocky Mount, Virginia.  They started the job about three weeks after our final meeting.  The installers were professional and efficient.  The job was scheduled to be completed on a Friday.  When they started to install the crown molding, I didn't like the color.  We had discussed whether it should be white or antique white and I had agreed to white since the rest of the molding in the house was white, but it didn't look right once I saw it.  So they called Mr. Friel and he told them to stop where they were.  They took down what they had put up and came back on Monday with molding painted to match the cabinets.  The whole process took about 3 1/2 days and was competed for the exact price quoted.   After the job was completed, there were a few minor trim problems that I wasn't satisfied with, so I made a list and they came back and fixed everything to my satisfaction.  A few days later I received a phone call from Mr. Friel to be sure everything had been done like I wanted it.  Dealing with them was a very pleasant experience and I highly reccomend them.

Recent Review: We had an extensive amount of water damage to our home, and we did not want to remove countertops and backsplash to replace cabinets. American Wood Reface provided the perfect solution to repair the cabinet damage while making them look like brand new cabinets! The kitchen is beautiful and the employees were extremely professional and great to work with. I’d highly recommend their team for their work ethic and attention to detail. I appreciated their perfectionistic approach to their work and it shows in the kitchen.

AAmerican Wood Reface
These guys are incredible. They refaced our kitchen cabinets in North Carolina. We were so pleased that we asked them to build, install, and face the kitchen cabinets in our new house in Virginia. They are meticulous in every aspect of their work - from keeping a clean workspace to making sure every little detail of their work is perfect. This work required them to come to the worksite in Virginia, get all the measurements they needed, fabricating the cabinet boxes, having all the drawer boxes, drawer fronts, and cabinet doors fabricated in solid wood, then bringing all that material up to Virginia and spending 3 days installing and facing the cabinets. My wife and I are thrilled at the end result and continue to be impressed by the individuals who actually do the installation. I whole-heartedly recommend AMR.

The change in my kitchen is amazing.  The kitchen looks modern, clean,  and adds value to the house.  The price was more than reasonable especially when considering kitchen cabinet replacement.  The job was performed in the time allowed and the workmanship was great.  I highly recommend cabinet replacement/re-facing to completely change the look of your old kitchen.

ACOLONIAL KITCHENS INC
We wanted to make our existing kitchen cabinets more user-friendly. The cabinets were built to our specifications 18 years ago by Colonial Kitchens. We asked Van to help with the design and provide an estimate. He was very helpful and worked hard to put our ideas into a practical design. He understood our needs and translated them into drawings for Brian. Then Brian came out to the house, gave us some new ideas, and explained our options. We are delighted with the outcome. The usable space in our kitchen cabinets has expanded greatly simply by modifying the interior space to be more efficient. We are very appreciative of the time spent exploring options and checking possible outcomes before the first tool was used. The excellent planning and careful installation made this job pleasant and highly satisfactory.

FTwo By Four Construction LLC
I have been dealing with this company, Two by Four Construction, for more than five months trying to resolve problems that the son Gary Jr created. I have an incomplete kitchen at my son's home and damage to the top of the crown molding above the wall cabinets.  The company continues to take contracts through Angie's List, but in five months they have not come back to finish the job. Initially, the owner Gary Sr. came out to my son's house to give a quote for the required work and he seemed knowledgeable. The first and second day of work went pretty well, however on the third day, Gary Jr. did not install the crown molding correctly as he was instructed. I was not present on the third day and in my absence, the crown molding was improperly installed too low, not meeting the ceiling and Gary Jr. was subsequently told to stop work and take it down until the issue could be resolve with me. Gary Jr. also brought in a second worker that day without first consulting me first and this used up additional labor hours unnecessarily. In addition, I discovered several gaps, up to a quarter inch, in the crown molding that is still in place. I've have been trying to get Gary (the owner) to come out since 7 November to resolve this issue with my son and I.  Gary has had multiple family concerns that prevented him from coming out.  We were understanding of this, but through our patience we were neglected while he continued to take on additional work.  Two different appointments were not met by Gary Sr to show the work we were unsatisfied with. This took over an hour and a half of travel time on my part that was completely wasted. These appointments were "no call/no shows." The third appointment date on 22 Feb, both Gary' and Gary Jr. came to my son's home to see and hear our issues with the workmanship. Gary Sr saw our concerns, admitted that the work could have been much better, and agreed to correct the issues himself.  We came up with a list of the things that needed to be corrected and how many hours remained on our contract. He sent a follow up email the next day but didn't include any time frame for when he could come to complete the work at my son's house. We requested multiple times over the next two weeks for dates he could perform the work. We sent him 16 different dates in March that would work for us and my son even offered to try and bend his work schedule for other days if needed. This job should have been a priority because of the issues needing correction and the time lost to date. Since 22 Feb, I've had nothing but emails back and forth and he now says his first available date is 14 April, six weeks after 22 Feb, to begin correcting the existing work and finish up the remaining contract labor hours.  I am now requesting my money back for the Big Deal so that I can find someone else to finish this job.  I was willing to let him correct the work, but my time and frustration in dealing with this situation is now more than I am willing to cope with. I have no faith in this company's workmanship, dedication to their craft, or reliability to hold to a schedule.   Desired Resolution:   Materials: 6 Pieces of Chocolate Brown (Starter molding) $780 2 Pieces of Cornice $250 Materials = $1030 Labor: 15.5 hours x $42.83 p/hour = $665. 8.5 remaining hours on the contract. 7.0  hours work for the final day of their third trip to our house has to be pulled down. That days work is wasted. $1695 is the total of our expenses for the workmanship issues we have. This is not even including the labor it will cost us to have a different contractor pull that work down. There was also a piece of Rope trim that was cut but only a small amount so we will not use that in our figures. Eventhough the materials will cost me more than the Big Deal Contract, my desired resolution is for a contract refund in full.

Dannex gave best estimate and worked to provide our “dream kitchen”. Louis did the work with attention to detail & quality. Harold oversaw the project & followed up with us to assure that work was completed as it progressed.

AVirginia Maid Kitchens
Virginia Maid is always busy ( a good thing) and it took a while for them to get started.  However, I was very impressed with the value, quality and service.    We did some of the work ourselves, but when all was said and done we have a have a $40K kitchen which cost less than half.

FBuckeye Cabinet & Supply Inc
Ordered cabinet in May. Although the cost was very high for one cabinet, we liked the owner and thought he would do a good job. we waited much longer than the time told us for the cabinet, but when finally installed, we must say it looked good. We were initially told the electric work would be done by an electrician, but the owner did it himself, causing lights in the lower cabinet which previously worked to now not function. Also included in the price was some touch up to the finish of a few existing cabinets. We have waited months for them to come back to finish. I did receive two messages saying that the owner was in the area and if I were going to be home within the next hour to call their office. Really??? Several weeks ago an appointment was made but I was told by the office staff that she would check on a time that the owner would come and "call me back with a few hours". No call and he never came. Today I received a bill for the $1800 balance. I called the office to remind them the work is not finished and her reply was that they have been trying to get in touch with us, but we are not responding. In summary, STAY AWAY! The quality of the work is fine, but the way they run a business is a nightmare!
