Although we live in a safe town, we wanted the piece of mind our old security provider couldn't offer. My tech-loving husband had been reviewing interactive home security systems, including Vivint.SmartHome. He noted that most of the bad reviews were from other areas and any recent ones near us had been pleasantly resolved to the customer's satisfaction. We were really impressed with the system and service, opting for (1) the doorbell camera, (2) keypad deadbolt that disarms the alarm when you unlock the front door, (3) Smart Thermostat and (4) moveable indoor camera ....all of which you can control from your cell phone/Apple Watch/iPad! It's intuitive, user-friendly (great for those of us slightly tech-averse) and we can grant our older children access to the system via the app on their cell phones. No more getting locked out of the house or being scared to stay home alone! PROS (1) Tamper-proof panel with software updating capability (2) Dedicated data means that the panel is not electricity dependent (3) Multiple types of sensors/alarm triggers (door, window, motion, camera, breaking glass) (4) Fast response time (5) Interactive from everywhere via the app (6) All items agreed upon with the rep were in writing Vivint.SmartHome Rep: Ryan Jooste 813.500.9332 * knowledgeable about not only Vivint's products, but competitors' products, as well * took the time to explain the capabilities of the system and services without being pushy, while inquiring about our needs to help us find the best combination of accessories * friendly, but sincere and honest - everything is in writing * gave us his personal cell phone number in case we had questions or needed anything Installation: * the fee and cost of the options selected were waived because Vivint was looking to increase their visibility in our area; we committed to a 3 year contract and signage in our yard * easy, efficient and clean * 2 techs installed, tested and educated our family about the system in 2 hours * the techs were courteous (even putting the milk back in my refrigerator, after he noticed I had left it out for him for his coffee!), patient with my 4 yr. old, and even gave us their direct contact information for any issues or questions CONS (?) * the price Compared to our old system $30/mo., it IS pricier, but we have also increased the security system's capabilities and our usage of it. We pay $80/mo. + local tax, which breaks out to $25 going to their call center and $55 for data for the dedicated line. * Now that more security systems are "smart", I would hope to be able to "bundle" this service with my others such as cell, internet....
