Recent Review: Better than I imagined!  I enjoyed working with Jaime & Pat Hamre.  Jaime is a very detailed contractor as I am and we worked together perfectly.  The quote was very detailed and we met several times to perfect the details of the project before the work was started.   I had a binder of pictures representing the traditional style I was trying to achieve and a list of shower, tile, tub, paint, and cabinetry ideas. At the beginning of the week I received updates and information on the remodeling work scheduled for the week.  His crew was punctual, polite, and professional.  I sincerely appreciate the level of attention and organized work ethics demonstrated by Jaime and Pat.

Recent Review: This was my first bathroom remodel. I got estimated from two other contractors. Usa Cabinet Store estimate was the best. Hasan helped us sort out the detail of our new bathroom. The showroom at Houston provided us many great idea. The whole family participated in the design process from showroom examples. We were able to design our new bathroom in 2 hours. The work started one time. Crew worked on the new bathroom every workday until it is completed. Crew consulted with us throughout the renovation to ensure work is done to our satisfaction. During the project, we did not like using wood as baseboard of the bathroom. We came up with an idea to use decoration and tile instead of baseboard. Crew took on the extra work and finished our beautiful new bathroom on time without extra charge. We are very happy with our new bathroom.

ARemodeling Max
It went very well. Working with everyone at Remodeling Max resulted in an overall positive experience. As with any large project, there will be details that must be addressed and I will say that Remodeling Max was always responsive.

FSOLID STONE MANUFACTURING
initially we were pleased with Mr. Kosse. He appeared professional and responded to inquiries promptly. He helped in choosing stone for our counters and bathrooms. He claims stone is "what he does". We had problems with the way the marble for our bathroom was cut, and initially he claimed "that's how it is with natural stone". When we pushed further since it looked terrible, he agreed to replace the counter top. He also did granite for our kitchen. We found out later that the support for the island is not even touching the island over hang. When we attempted to contact Mr. Kosse he did not respond. He also broke a concrete flagstone paver in our walkway which he fixed, and a few months later it was cracked again, and when we contacted him about this again he did not respond. We chose to go with the more expensive mitered edges for our kitchen counters and the work is shoddy at best with cracks in the expensive granite that we chose.  But even these we could have dealt with more privately. The worst part of Mr. Kosse's service was the people he brought into our home to perform electric, carpentry, and plumbing work. He claimed all his recommendations were licensed and he has copies of their licenses. The man he recommended for electric work, Mr. Jose Chanquin, is an unlicensed man masquerading as an electrician. Even simple rewiring that this man did, did not work. He set up the NEST thermostat in our home and caused a breakdown of our HVAC system so that we had to have another HVAC company come and fix it. We had to have an independed electrician come and rewire all the fans that were set up by this person. When we spoke with Roberto Kosse about this he assured us that since he was responsible for bringing Mr Chanquin to our home, he would refund us the money spent and get it back himself from Mr. Chanquin. However when the time came he backed out and we are yet to see our money. He also used Mr. Ruben Sillero's plumbing services in our home. We used Mr. Sillero independently (see separate review on C&R Services) and also via Mr. Kosse, we have plumbing work on our invoices from Mr. Kosse. We have since found that Mr. Sillero is also unlicensed as a plumber and obtained a permit under someone else's plumbing liceanse. Mr. Kosse knowingly brought an unlicensed plumber into our home to do plumbing work, and this is illegal. We have had trouble with our sink leaking and also a gas leak from work done by Mr. Sillero. We have repeatedly attempted to contact Mr. Kosse regarding this matter and he has been unresponsive. We believe that Mr. Kosse must have been aware of these unlicensed workers but must have been getting some sort of commission from them (though we cannot be sure) and this is why he brought these workers into our home. We believe this because whenever we attempted to contact the electrician or plumber for refunds, they advised us to speak with Mr. Roberto Kosse about the money. IN A NUTSHELL: DO NOT USE THESE SERVICES. THIS MAN WILL BRING UNSAFE UNLICENSED WORKERS INTO YOUR HOME, and lastly his work even though he claims to be a stone specialist, is mediocre at best. STAY AWAY. IN RESPONSE TO MR. KOSSE. Thank you for your response. You took on the job knowing full well the details of the work. You agreed on your contract to and end date in January. Because we added work on, we agreed to extend to Feb 4. You left our home (thank goodness) Feb 17, only after threats that I would cut the fee. So the threat of losing money finally made you speed up?  Also, I have never called after 11 pm. You ask  me to email? I have already emailed several times. Just in case, I will also send this to you on email. Show some integrity and respond to your emails. I texted at 8:30 pm on a week day after calling during business hours and emailing several times. And you also have not had any decency to respond to a single phone call or email. A man without conscience such as yourself is a disgrace to your profession and a poor business man. Although I do not have evidence it is obvious to me that you must be making a commission off referrals of your unlicensed colleagues. My husband has not been pleased with your work so don't pretend everything ended well as you know it did not. The painter is an independent painter, unrelated to me, my husband, or any of our colleagues. Thank you for continuing your trend of posting dishonest information on Angie's List. And our furniture was moved on Feb 11. AS PER YOUR CONTRACT THE END DATE WAS IN JANUARY. Or did you forget? And please don't forget the plumber is ON YOUR OWN INVOICES. YOU PAID AN UNLICENSED PLUMBER WITH OUR MONEY ON YOUR CONTRACT. It is illegal, and you did exactly that. That plumber that you used for work on your contract, whose license you promised us you would show, has been investigated by the plumbing board and does not have a license. No wonder you never followed through, because you were dishonest in the first place. You say you have used his services and recommended his services for years, so you must have been aware he was unlicensed. But I am sure you are still using his services. I wonder how many others have been duped by you and your referrals, but you must not mind since you must be getting a commission. Best of luck to you and your practices. And just in case, I will also send this to you in an email but I am quite sure you will not respond. You may respond on Angie's list to protect your reputation but you are unable to actually get back to me in your email. That shows what type of a business you run. It is a facade and a joke and I will make sure I do not recommend your services to any one. And I am happy to share pictures of your "high quality work". The cracks in our mitered edge granite counters and scratches in the cutting are a great example. The lack of support of the island overhand is another great example. Thank you very much. Our lawyer will be in touch.

AAIS Stone & Marble Inc
JT is an absolute GODSEND. We flooded during Harvey and unfortunately we hired a crook contractor in the beginning who stole tens of thousands of dollars from us. We had used JT in the past, so I decided to give him a call to see if he could help. JT was extremely responsive to our needs and was johnny on the spot! He gave great pricing compared to others who were trying to take advantage of the aftermath of Harvey. REALLY RARE QUALITY! Always communicated every aspect of the project, and we knew what to expect everyday. Unlike other contractors, JT called me before I could even call him. I've never seen a contractor manage a job as well as he did. JT even went out of his way to help us with style, recommendations on color schemes, and actually took us to the granite yard several times until we were comfortable on what we had selected. One amazing thing about JT's company is that his employees are direct employees and not sub-contractors. We always knew who was in our home. Pilo and Adolfo were amazing tile guys, Rene is by far the best granite fabricator (everything was exact), and the plumber an expert in his craft pointing out and fixing the garbage work preformed by the initial contractor. We have recommended JT to our parents and friends, and would absolutely recommend him to anyone. If you are thinking about remodeling, you would be stupid not to call JT!

ABath & Tile Restoration
Nothing but good things to say about Bath & Tile.  I was several months pregnant when Kurt first quoted me on the bathroom remodel.  They made remodeling as stress-free as it can get.  I happen to appreciate that particularly because our first contractors were a nightmare. We were looking to remodel all of the full bathrooms in our recently-purchased house.  Kurt's quote was neither the cheapest nor the most expensive quote.  We ended up deciding between him and another contractor that a friend had recommended, ultimately decided to go with the other contractor who was cheaper, and almost immediately regretted that decision.  Long story short, we fired the original bathroom contractors, who had completed two of the upstairs bathrooms, and we had Bath & Tile do the master bathroom. (I wish we had gone with them for all of the bathrooms, but too late for that now.)  These guys are professionals.  They've been doing it for a long time successfully, and it shows.  They are always accessible, on top of things, organized, and take any setbacks or changes to be made in a professional manner.  Kurt did the quotes (which are itemized, so you know what costs what from the beginning - great way to do business) and was always available for questions.  Carl, Kurt's brother, was the project manager and did a great job - he was really knowledgeable, always accessible and thoughtful in his work.  When you told him what you wanted, he did his best to make sure it happened (and it did) within the price point you were comfortable with.  When you weren't sure about what exactly you wanted, he gave you his input and then let you make the decision.  He spent considerable time with us figuriing out the exact placement of all the showerheads, and made sure fixtures/cabinets, etc, would be symmetrical; he likes things to be symmetrical (and so do we!).  Shirley, the designer that Bath & Tile provides at no charge, was our main point person - she was always accessible and gave great input while respecting your own tastes - i.e., she didn't try to push her own aesthetic views on you, and yet always gave her honest feedback on your vision, so that working with her was stress-free.  She really helped pull our bathroom together into a cohesive look.  Kurt, while he did not oversee our job, still remained accessible and weighed in on some issues. Because Kurt, Carl and Shirley all have their act together, as do their subcontractors, the process goes smoothly and pretty quickly.  They know what they are doing and minimize the stress on you.  They also have great personalities and are easy to get along with. And of course, the finished bathroom looks great - the quality of their work is wonderful; tiles, cabinets, shower, tub, floors, sinks, etc.  Shirley designed our cabinets and they look wonderful.  We are extremely happy with the master and get compliments on it all the time. A few things I truly think make them stand out, other than the quality of their work: if something goes wrong, which is going to happen in any remodel project, they address the issue immediately without trying to assign blame on the homeowner.  For example, their glass guy, when putting up the metal bar that holds the glass in place at the top, had a rod that was too short and tried to compensate for it by using globs of silicone to keep it in place.  When I emailed both Kurt and Carl, both of them responded almost immediately - basically they took a look, said, yeap that isn't right, and we'll get it fixed. No quibbling about whether or not it looked right or didn't, or how it was or wasn't their fault or whose fault it was (which is something our previous contractors would do all the time); they just said, that doesn't look right, we'll get it fixed, and they did. That is the mark of a professional - you don't take it personally, you look at the work and say, if it's not right, we'll make it right.  They take pride in doing a good job and it shows - they have great relationships with their subcontractors.  They also have a good eye for detail and are used to doing high-end work - Shirley and Fernando, the tile guy, spent time sorting out our tumbled marble tiles to make sure we had a bit of white in each tile as we'd asked for, and also threw out some tiles that were not in good shape, to make sure that the shower had the best look possible. Shirley would call or text pictures throughout the day and if she thought there was something that might look "off" from the way we wanted it, she would ask.  Their communication is phenomenal; you tell them how you want something (for example, we wanted Redguard on the hardibacker); they tell their guys; the Redguard is on as you requested.  Nothing is lost in communication.  They also go the extra mile in establishing a good relationship--the day Carl and Fernando were to come to put the finishing touches on the bathroom, as timing would have it, that was the day the baby was born.  Since we were going to the hospital, I emailed Kurt, Carl and Shirley to let them know and have them come another day.  They waited at least a month before contacting me to see if I was ready to finish up the bathroom, knowing how hectic things were with a newborn.  That was incredibly thoughtful of them.  When our cleaning ladies messed up some of the tumble marble in our bathroom by using an acidic cleaner, Kurt knew how upset I was and came over as soon as he was able to take a look.  He sent his granite guy Melchor to try and get rid of the damage (it was taken care of and now looks as it did before), and didn't even charge anything.  In summary, you can trust that Bath &  Tile will do a great, professional job, that they will be considerate and thoughtful, that they don't just "do your bathroom" but they take pride in their work and want it to look its best.  Your money will be well spent on them.

AAce Custom Building
I simply am unable to say enough great things about Ivan and his crew. He was punctual, responsive and always professional - he even made friends with my dogs! The work was completed as expected and on time. The crew even worked on the weekends as needed to make sure the job was done, done well, and met both my and their expectations of quality. Ivan's prices are reasonable and fair and he worked well with other contractors we had on site. He has a great eye and his recommendations were always spot on. I have referred them to several neighbors and friends and we have all been happy with the results. I look forward to contacting them again for any future work we may need.

AH-Towne & Around Remodelers, Inc.
My experience with J.R. And H-Towne Remodelers was great! I met with several contractors and out of all the contractors I met, H-Towne Remodelers was the right choice for me. I explained to JR what areas of the home I wanted to remodel and he provided me with an estimate in a timely manner. The kitchen was outdated and I had a specific vision of what I wanted the kitchen to look like. JR helped me make that vision a reality, he even came up with a solution of how to make my kitchen bigger. His crew was very professional and they were cautious to not damage or get floors dirty. I am extremely pleased with the end result and I will definitely recommend H-Towne Remodelers to anyone that asks if I know a good contractor. I am definitely going to use H-Towne Remodelers for other projects in the future. Erika R

ARemodel Specialists
This is the second major bathroom remodel that this company has done here. Like the first job, the execution of this project was flawless. The demolition included tearing out the old cultured marble tub surround, removing a fir down above the tub area to give the shower more height, replace all of the suround wall boards, replace the shower valve and raise the shower head, and then rebuild the new higher ceiling. Then, their tile man, who is the absolute best I have ever seen, began the tile installation which included a glass deco line. Before he could begin the tile job, he put a waterproof membrane on all surfaces, making the entire area leak proof. After the tile work was finished, their painter textured the new ceiling to match the existing ceiling and painted the entire surface. New Moen fixtures were installed and the entire work area was cleaned so that you didn't know they had worked in there. Here's the deal with Remodel Specialists:  you can count on them to do everything they say they will do, and be assured that the quality of the work is unsurpassed. In this process, you will enjoy every one of the employees who you come in contact with during the project. They do not use "subs," as every worker is on the payroll at Remodel Specialists. They are polite and professional. (The only thing they don't do is glass work, but they can recommend an outside company who did the frameless shower glass in our master bath remodel, or you can look on your own for a company to do this work.) In a nutshell, this company is outstanding, and I would not use anyone else for a bathroom or kitchen remodel. (I have no financial interest in Remodel Specialists.)
