Recent Review: I know that you will always find issues with homes that are 15 yrs. old. However, after today's finding - I can't let this go. I checked the 'inspection report' and I don't know what was inspected - but, it wasn't thorough. But before I do that - he did notice problems with the window seals - we got new windows for that. We also got a new pool pump - what was NOT noticed is that it was kluged together by two different parts (thanks to home warranty pool coverage). It failed after a month (not his issue - but, read a few of my other negative posts). Issues: 1. Garbage disposal - I bet he checked if it turned on. It does - but, all the teeth are worn down. This has been since we moved in. 2. We had a number of hot water valves shut off in the house. Why? Because they leaked. He never tested them. No way he could not have noticed this. 3. Our downstairs heating unit was on its last legs. The company that we use to service it (Berkey's) told us that anyone who knew HVAC systems would have seen this. Berkey's also mentioned that the upstairs unit was close to needing replacement as well. 4. And this has been my ongoing issue,  and the one that prompted this review - he said he checked the dryer vent. I would like to know how - did he just check to see if there was one?. It was absolutely clogged (and we've only been here 17 months).  The technician who came out stated that it had been this way for years. Also, the vent closure is incorrect - it is not meant for a dryer and also has a screen on top of it. I will never recommend this organization to inspect any property. EVER. I will also let my old realtor know as well.

Reviews in Mansfield to Inspect Crawl Space

AHouseCheck
Kent was thorough and skilled. And funny; a pleasure to work with! He offered a couple times to reduce the price of inspecting the crawl space if I'd accompany him into the mud and cobwebs, but I allowed him to do it by himself. :-) He was full of helpful suggestions and comments. His detailed report was delivered overnight — replete with pictures and arrows and explanations.

AHOUSE EXAM INSPECTION & CONSULTING
Brandon was on time at 8:00 a.m. to inspect the house I had under an option contract. It's a 90 year old house and there was a lot of ground to cover; he was extremely thorough and explained his findings in detail. He left about 11:00; I had his written report by mid-afternoon. The service was very helpful in my decision-making process, and I wouldn't hesitate to call on House Exam again.

ARON BRACKETT HOME INSPECTION SERVICE
I have used Ron Brackett's Home & Termite Inspection 3 times. I have great respect for this company. Whether your house was built in 1941 or 2004 they use the same painstaking method to inspect the home. The 2 most recent times we have used this company, Darren Brackett has been our inspector. He was pleasant to talk with and responsive to my nervous questions. I would recommend this company to anyone who asks.

Kevin is extremely throrough and professional. He spent a lot of time in the crawl space to insure that everything looked good. After the inspection, he went over every detail of the report. We received an electronic copy of the report later on the same day as the inspection.

ABILL YOUNG INC
Bill Young, himself, came to do the home inspection on a 1335 sq ft home in Lakewood. He was very thorough and professional. Arrived on time, found a number of things wrong with the house, and immediately helped us prioritize what we should fix (or have the sellers fix) first. Submitted a narrative report in writing by the end of the same day. Inspection included pier-and-beam foundation via the crawl space, wood-destroying insects (WDI) inspection, and the outbuilding in addition to other standard things on the TREC inspection checklist. His fee is not the cheapest you can find, but you get what you pay for. His services are well worth the cost.

ARON BRACKETT HOME INSPECTION SERVICE
Darrin Brackett was my inspector in both times and he inspected everything the house had, from every single faucet to the crawl space and roof. He was always there on time, even before I had arrived. He was friendly and explained every single item he found. From a bad roof to foundation issues to prior repairs. He also differentiated code changes vs what had to be repaired ASAP to what eventually should be replaced. In all an excellent home inspection company and highly recommended.

AWOOD INSPECTION SERVICE
Paul Wood Inspection is a family operation -- he performed the inspection himself and brought fresh cornbread his wife had made, which was a very nice detail. He took extensive color photos with a digital camera, stopped to discuss and review details as he worked (because of my many questions as a first-time home-buyer), was very flexible and patient when we had to wait for help from the home-seller in tracking down the home's crawl space, and in making an appointment with us on short notice. He was recommended by my real estate agent to be everything he turned out to be. I'm so very glad she turned out to be right!

ATexas Inspector
I am a first-time homebuyer and do not have a wealth of knowledge about home construction.  I believed that finding a great home inspector to be my advocate was a priority in the sometimes confusing home purchasing process.  Aaron did an amazingly detailed job looking into every nook and cranny of my potential new home.  The report gave me descriptions of each problem he found and often images to back up the details.  This was so helpful to me.  It allowed me to prioritize the changes I wanted to request of the Seller and also gave me the visual evidence I needed to backup the requests.  Due to issues with the home, Aaron was required to come back to the house on multiple occasions and he was very prompt about returning my emails and setting the time and day.  Timing is so important in the early stages of the bidding / contract process.  I would definitely use Aaron again.

ABILL YOUNG INC
Bill showed up promptly. Inspected the house from roof and attic to foundation and yard. I followed him most places (except under the house to inspect the crawl space). He answered all of my questions thoroughly with recommendations when I asked. He had the written report to me before 8 the next morning. He responded to more emails about details and further recommendations. Bill is a professional engineer. Bill did a gas line check which other inspectors wouldn't. I highly recommend Bill Young. Bill's price was more than others but well worth the piece of mind.
