Recent Review: Smith and Ramirez won my business after I talked to and received quotes from 6 other roofing companies in the area.  They met with me on my schedule, which was often late in the evening or on weekends.  They took the time to explain to me my options with the products they're licensed to install and helped me understand the insurance claim process.  The work was completed in 3 days, as promised, and the roof really does look great.  Nothing but kudos for the team at Smith and Ramirez!

Recent Review: I choose them because they were near the top of Angie's List and had a lot of positive reviews.  He was prompt for the estimate the same day that I called.  His presentation was very well put together and he was very honest.  He said that his workers would put tarp around my home to help with clean up and that they would perform clean up each day.  The owner was on site most days other than running a couple of errands.  He also answered any questions that I had and he was very honest about them and explained them thoroughly.  They were done with the job in 3 days and didn't rush through.  They had good work hours so they wouldn't overwork the workers.  I had seen previous comments about Phillips being more expensive but he was way under the other 5 estimates that I received.  I also liked that he didn't ask for money upfront.  He also used the best duration roofing shingles available to help with wind gusts in my area.  The shingles Owens Corning is guaranteed up to 130 mph winds.  It looks great.  I liked Phillips Hoover so well that I am going with his partner to do additional work around my home.

Recent Review: A job well done. Very professional and he explained to me further repair that was needed on the flat portion on my roof. Referred to the bad workmanship on one particular area of roof when house was built. Added reinforcement to that area. What a little extra but well worth the price

Recent Review: Oscar's Roofing was professional from start to finish.  I emailed Richard King one afternoon and by the next morning at 8:15 I received a return phone call.  He promised me an estimate in 2 to 3 days and right on time he had it ready and met me at my house, not only on time but actually 20 minutes ahead of schedule.  He is a very professional, personable gentleman.  We tried to get another estimate from another company but it took nearly 10 days and 2 phone calls before we did.  By then we had already decided that Richard King's company was the right one to use.  Richard said the re-roofs would take approximately a week, their crew (at least 6 to 8 workers) arrived promptly at 7:15 in the morning on Monday, and by 7:00 a.m. the other two days.  By Wednesday afternoon they were finished with the entire job.  They spent about an hour and a half cleaning up the site, touching up paint on my gutters and siding, cleaning my gutters, etc.   Ray, the project manager, was a total joy to work with as well - extremely polite and informative during the entire process.  He let me know what to expect as far as the roof shingles settling down after 2 weeks due to the cold weather and told me that if we saw ANY damage (blemishes to paint on house, gutter issues, etc.) to be sure and call them and they would be right out to take care of it.  Honestly, I have never had such a pleasant experience with any contractor before; they are rated A+ with the BBB, and are highly rated on Angie's List as well, and now I see why!  I have an extremely steep roof, and all the workers wore the appropriate safety harnesses, etc.  My neighbor was so impressed with their work and work ethic that he has hired them to replace his roof as well.  If you need a re-roof, hire Oscar's Roofing!

The roof was declared a total loss by my insurance carrier, due to severe wind damage. Although I am not oozing money, I wanted to replace it with a 30 year roof of high caliber. I carefully observed his team replace the roof on the house kitty-corner to mine, and spoke to the owners regarding this roofer. They enthusiastically recommended him and his team for professionalism, careful work and cleanliness. I both spoke to Art by phone and met him for a proposal at my home. He spent at least an hour explaning his work methods, clean up habits and materials. His team consisted of an on-site forman and several laborers. The down payment was $1,000.00, which he picked up from me at my office, at my suggestion. He displayed the permit prominently on the front window. The work occurred over a 4 day period, during which rain caused a half day work stoppage. His forman was professional and responsive to my questions. I had a complaint over rolled material having been carelessly left on my patio and a large plant after Day 1 or 2 of the work. The forman personally returned to my home that night to move all items to a proper location and ascertain whether damage had occurred. He spent at least an hour of his personal time to do so. At completion, the yards looked as they had before, except for the odd small scrap here and there. I did not know that it was possible to be in love with a roof, but I am proud of its design and beauty. I would recommend Art Hanshaw without exception. Working with him was a pleasure.

Vendor contacted in late September 2009 based upon another family member's experience, during a non-catastrophic weather event.  Initial assessment of roof and estimate were completed in October 2009, with a contract being signed.  Initial projects were that they had a back log and would not have this job completed until early November 2009.  Multiple status calls to vendor's office through the months of November, December and January 2010 which vendor indicated that they were still attempting to provide a date due to lack of product supply, and other job bookings.  Finally, in February 2010 the work commenced. My initial inspection of the work resulted in me being very disappointed.  The roof's shingle work was straight and professional, however the shingles seem to hang off the edge of the roof by an excessive amount, approximately 1 inch.  The roof jacks which were damaged by the hail storm were not replaced but were painted (i know because I touched them and got fresh paint on my hands), the A/C unit's frame was removed to place new shingles - but was never re-attached to the roof (with frame screws completely missing).  The icing on the cake was that I could see daylight where the roof and the metal flashing on the new plastic domed skylights meet.  I got up on the roof and sure enough the flashing was about 1/4 inch off the roof, as it wasn't installed properly. I called the roofer out to explain the concerns and findings. About a month later they came out to correct with most issues being addressed.  The sky lights were removed and installed correctly, most of the beaten up roof jacks were replaced, but others that were not noticeable from the ground were not.  A/C frame was never reattached to roof nor were screws holding the frame together replaced.  Just recently, almost 1 1/2 years later, I had to replace the A/C unit since it was old and rusty.  To my dismay, the A/C evaporative cooler's ventilation jack was not replaced either.  I could tell just based on the amount of rust and holes in it, that it was much older than 1 1/2 year it should be.   Very disappointed in the service, which resulted in my mother-in-law and father using other roofers.  Granted there's nothing they can do with over bookings and lack of supply, but the workmanship and follow up should have addressed the problem.
