I have taken a couple of weeks to think this through before I wrote a review. My daughter bought me the 4 hour cleaning for $99 for Mother's Day. My house was dirty. I'll be the first to admit that! The team of 3 (including the owner) arrived a little late (about 15 minutes). They looked through my house. I told them what I hoped to have done. Then they stepped outside. I was already feeling very uncomfortable because I had to be there while they were working but I needed to stay home that day. While they were outside, my daughter called me and said the owner had called her and said there was no way they could get my house clean in 4 hours. It would take 6-8 hours at an additional $50 an hour. Let me explain first that the 2 of us (my daughter and I) could have worked together and cleaned the house from top to bottom in 2-3 hours. We've done it before. I was embarrassed that the professionals thought my house was that dirty. (Again I will admit it needed a good cleaning for sure! I hated how dirty it had gotten). I immediately told my daughter that I did not want her to pay more than the $99 so whatever they could do in 4 hours for $99 was what I wanted. When they came back in the house I told them my priorities (bathrooms, kitchen, hardwoods and carpeted steps). I left off cleaning the basement to save time and money. I also told them they didn't have to do the spare bedroom, or my daughters room (which was off limits from the beginning) in order for them to finish on time. By this time 30 minutes had passed. (the 15 minutes they were late, and the time it took to call my daughter, and go over the plan with me.) I will be the first to compliment them on their work. They started working at 1030am. They worked hard! My house was very clean when they left. They finished it in 3 1/2 hours, leaving here at 2pm, just as originally planned. They did get the dusting in the spare bedroom done, also the dusting in the basement, and did some vacuuming down there. It was wonderful to have a clean house. I relaxed that week, and with the exception of doing dishes and laundry I got the treat that my gift was intended for. I got the luxury of no longer being stressed and overwhelmed by my house needing to be cleaned. Bravo to them for that! I am still able to keep things up easily since I am living alone now, so mission was accomplished in less time than we even paid for! I was pleased with their work! I suppose the problem was in communication. I knew the size of my house, the dirt I had, and how long it takes to clean it very well. I was stunned and embarrassed when they wanted to take up to 8 hours to clean my house, especially since I only wanted the basement lightly cleaned because there are a lot of boxes, and junk down there since we have just finished a remodel and moving things around. And I didn't want my daughter's room touched because she was in the process of moving out. I have an 8 room, 1800 square foot house. With the basement being very lightly cleaned (possible 15 minutes of cleaning) and my daughters room not being touched, that only left 6 rooms to clean. The dining room and master bedroom were not very dirty. Most of the dirt was in the kitchen, bathrooms, steps and the floors. Trust me, I knew that with 3 people working for only $99 they were not making any money. But that is what the deal she bought and was what I was supposed get. I felt bad that they didn't get paid more, but I also couldn't pay them $50 an hour for 4 hours extra. The deal didn't mention only light house work. From my daughters understanding, everything I needed done was included. In the end, I was very happy with their work. My house was very clean. My only complaint was that they wanted to spend more time doing the work I asked for. I really feel these deals should be more specific as to what can and can't be done in the time frame you pay for. This is the 2nd deal I bought from Angies list. I had to request a refund for a handyman for 8 hours on the first deal I bought. The man came over to discuss the work I needed done. He said he couldn't do the things I really needed done in 8 hours (the work I asked him for was to lay some floating hardwood in 3 small closets. My 80 year old dad has laid hardwood in some of my closets in less than 8 hours. Actually it took him about 2 hours). I then asked the handy man to paint a bathroom since he couldn't lay the hardwood. He said the bathroom would take 10-12 hours to paint. I have personally painted that same bathroom in under 6-7 hours. I think my complaint is that these deals need to be very specific, and most likely the cleaning service should have dropped by and looked my house over before they came to clean it so there was no misunderstandings about what needed to be done and what they could achieve in the time frame. I have no hard feelings towards Clean Corners. They did a great job! I just feel that communication should be better all the way around when Angie's List runs specials. That would save awkwardness and embarrassment on my part and on the part of the company. Maybe my problem is more with Angies List than the companies? I will be sure that everything is specific before I buy a special again. Thank you Clean Corners for working so hard so quickly in order to get my house clean in a timely manner. I sincerely appreciate your work and hope your business is very successful! God bless you!
