Recent Review: Green Heat and Air is a certified Carrier dealer and identified that the compressor in the Carrier heat pump unit had locked up. As a result, the heat pump needed to be replaced, as replacing just the compressor was not cost effective. In estimating the replacement options, Green identified that the indoor furnace was over 15 years old and it would be less expensive to replace the furnace at the same time as the heat pump instead of replacing it separately in the next 5 to 10 years. I was given estimates for replacing just the heat pump and for replacing both units. The furnace that they quoted was a 90+ efficiency gas fueled furnace which vented via PVC pipe. When I inquired if I should invest in a higher efficiency heat pump, the owner recommended that i not upgrade, as the monthly energy saving would be minimal (~ $15/20/month) and it would take over 10+ years to re-cope the higher purchase cost. The crew installed both systems within 4 hours and hauled away the old units. The finished result, is that I now have an energy efficient dual fuel system, which utilizes the gas furnace for 'emergency heat' should the heat pump not be able to create enough heat when the temperature gets down to 32 degrees. I will only use Green Heat and Air in the future.
