Recent Review: Cheryl is very knowledgeable and has great ideas. Our end result was beautiful and we are well pleased. However, the process of having to coordinate the different subs got to be annoying and frustrating and caused major delays. Much of this was beyond her control bur it’s still her responsibility. Again the final outcome was wonderful but I wouldn’t want to go through this long frustrating process again.

Our kitchen project was extensive, requiring demo all the way down to the studs. This was our third renovation with Extreme and I am still blown away by the finished product. The sub contractors were fantastic, the quality was top notch and the pricing was VERY fair. This company is so amazing they are too busy to start on our fourth project as quickly as we would like!

FDesigns By Cheryl Lynn & Associates, LLC.
Update: Cheryl DEMANDED final payment on June the 17th. Today is July 27th, 40 days later and the kitchen still isn't 100% complete. We hired Cheryl Lynn Designs for a kitchen remodel. I am writing this review, in spite of Cheryl threatening me about writing her a negative review. We have no doubt she will respond and state that this is all lies and will attempt to discredit us, the accountant and the retired military officer. Please learn from our mistake. She sent me an email on June 18th and stated: “…You have made false claims against me in your text messages and to you husband. I will let you know that if you choose to do a bad review about me, or try and slander me in any way, I will respond with the appropriate action. Angies’s List – I can respond to your review, and put pictures, and copy emails, text messages, phone records etc and list it all. Angie’s List now lets me the provider also do a review on you. And rate you. If you slander my name I will take action.” I have discussed my concerns of retaliation with the folks at Angie’s List, and they have encouraged me to write an unfettered review. So here goes…. We liked Cheryl initially. However, we quickly lost confidence in her. We hired a designer to schedule the work and coordinate the subs. And was told from the beginning that each piece of the kitchen project would fall one right after the other. That was not the case. It was very stressful, and we never knew from one day to the next what was happening, if we needed to be home or not. More often than not, however, we were told someone was coming out, only to be rescheduled. Luckily, the subs that she uses (all independently owned businesses) were wonderful to deal with, and I simply stopped dealing with Cheryl and dealt/scheduled with them myself. Cheryl Lynn Designs added no value to the project. My first mistake was telling her our budget. And, surprise! Her quote came in exactly at what my budget was. However, it did not include the electrician, the lighting, the faucet & disposal, and the cabinet hardware. We came in over budget approximately 20%. Which must be her mark-up. (I asked her early on in the process if she marks up her subs and was told no.) Either that, or she has over charged me $2700 for the cabinetry, and she stated this was a transposition error, but has refused to refund this amount to us. Her ‘design plan’ was amateurish and lacked substance. It consisted of her bringing about 15 samples to our house, and pictures of cabinet stains. That’s it. Having worked at an architectural firm, I fully expected boards with various options. The only board she brought was a board with pictures of three kitchens. None of which were what we wanted to do. We had to wade through the samples, and we both just kind of stared at them in disbelief. Wondering what the heck?? That was the second mistake. Ultimately, we stammered through and picked out granite and tile for the backsplash that we are pleased with. Then, as another reviewer stated, she logged onto her email using our computer, and showed us pictures from Lowe’s and Home Depot of faucets, light fixtures, cabinet hardware. Um no. I’m not going to buy $2 hardware on custom built cabinets. I then stated that I will not purchase a faucet from a big box store because they have a lower quality than a plumbing supply store. She said that was false. Every plumber I have ever spoken to has told me to always buy faucets, etc. from a plumbing supply store. She also seemed confused as to why I wanted to replace my disposal. Well, why wouldn’t I? I’m replacing everything else. This must eat into her mark-up. Cheryl lacked follow-through. A perfect example of this was the tile was never ordered for the backsplash. She stated she placed the order, but didn’t know it was never ordered until the afternoon before the backsplash was due to be installed. This delayed the project another 2 weeks. We saw Cheryl’s true colors on June 16, which really affected the outcome of this review because before this date it wouldn't have been as negative. The backsplash was being installed, and she wanted her final payment. I informed her that the job wasn’t complete. Something she should have known, but obviously didn’t. We had an issue with 4 drawer fronts. She was demanding final payment on June 17, once the backsplash was completed. And threatened in texts and voicemails that she would pull the tile installers off the job if I didn’t pay in full. She sent me 34 texts in about 3.5 hours on June 16 demanding that I respond immediately and return her call. I informed her multiple times that I was at work and was in meetings all day. I quite frankly didn’t have 30 minutes to listen to her bloviate. She left me a 2.5 minute voicemail calling me childish, and saying that I have an attitude, and that I’m wasting her time. Cheryl seemed to forget that we are the customer and she is working for us. We then decided that she would not be allowed into our home to take pictures for her portfolio. She was absent during the entire project. The only time Cheryl came out to the house during the project was to collect the final payment. Then was surprised when we would not allow her to take pictures for her portfolio. Once she was told no pictures, she then handed her phone to one of the tile installers and told him to go in and take pictures, which we didn’t allow. She then began inquiring about what sort of home security system we had in place. She referred to me as demanding and controlling. I, however, call it looking out for our best interests. She was paid in full on June 17. Today is July 11, and the job still isn’t complete. The subs that she works with were all great and we will definitely use them on future projects. • New Age Cabinetry & Design built the kitchen cabinets. They are beautiful. Randy did everything he said he would do, and is very easy to work with. • Steve Stone of A Sandy Stone, LLC stained the cabinets and painted the island. His work is beautiful, the cabinets look like fine furniture. • Carolina Custom Tile (Brandon) did a great job on the backsplash. And was awesome to work with. • Russell at Foremost Plumbing was awesome. He spent an entire day re-plumbing the pipes at the sink area after a pipe broke during the demolition. • Ray at My Granite Kitchen was awesome to work with, and the granite is beautiful. Cheryl is extremely difficult to work with, and we will never hire her again. And, regret hiring her for this project. Although, we are extremely pleased with the work of the individual businesses listed above. Our job still isn’t complete, and it’s been over 3 weeks since she received final payment.

FSTONE CITY INC KITCHEN & BATH
They didn't show up when they said they would, which really bothers me. They were supposed to complete the job in October, and rescheduled several times. The kitchen was a disaster area, so I had to cancel my Thanksgiving. They came back to re-grain the granite I was unhappy with, which put lots of dust all over the house. The countertops and the cabinets look like something out of a salvage yard. We had a backspash before they started working, and they measured twice assuring us we can use it, and then later told us we can't use the backsplash. This resulted in further charges. We didn't get either of our lazy susans, and one cabinet I can crawl all the way into the back.  Everything has been emptied from my cabinets for a couple of months, including food, cleaning products and dishes, since they didn't complete the job until just recently. They scratched my refrigerator door to them metal and put a dent in my dishwasher door, so I had to get a new one of those. They covered up an electrical socket and I had to ask them to come back to open that up. Usually I am very easy to get along with, but now I just feel taken advantage of.

FAll Pro Improvements Inc
We hired All-Pro on on 9/30/13 to remodle our Kitchen it was suppose to take 6 to 8 weeks. The cabinets arrived with in a week and were place in my garage and that is where that sat for over a week. We were told that some of the cabinets were missing. The packing list was with the cabinets and everything was there so a week later someone finally shows up to start the work and that is when we find out the measurements were wrong. The pantry was way to short and I was told that was the only size company that made the cabinet made so I went on their website and found the correct size. My kitchen was finally completed at the end of December and it has been one problem after onther ever since. My garbage disposal came loose and was leaking under the sink, cabinet doors have fallen off, the electrical shorted out ( there was wire left bare under the house) I was charged for GFCI outlets they were not installed. The range vent is improperly hung. The duct work for the heat and ac is not properly installed and now my crown molding is falling off because it was instatalled with glue and not nails.

CHALL'S CUSTOM CABINETS & REMODELING
This group was very polite and responsive, and at the time of installation it was a good experience.  I have an older home and the cabinets were torn out and replaced.  The former cabinets were solid wood and had been up for 35 years with no warping.  As custom cabinet builders, and with the price, I assumed that everything would be solid wood.  It is not.  They use pre-made cabinet doors that are made of pressed wood.  Pressed wood does not do well with water.  After about a year, I called and had Hall's replace the cabinets below the sink because water from the sink had done exactly what you would expect water to do to pressed wood, it bubbled and looked bad.  I can't remember who came to do the work, I think it was the original owner, but he was clearly not happy about replacing the doors and made a comment, "What do you do, have your kids washing dishes".  Well, yes, as a matter of fact I do, and the prior owners who had 5 children before me did the same, because they were responsible parents as well.  The difference was, they had real wood and I didn't, so they didn't  have a buckling problem.  I regret having my cabinets redone.  I have the same problem with buckling under the counter that I initially had, but I've just lived with it.  One day I will have someone redo them with real wood, but after they were so unhappy to stand by their product, it just wasn't worth it to me to pursue this.  I really did not appreciate them acting like their choice of shoddy material was somehow my fault, and that has colored the whole experience for me.  I may not be a custom cabinet maker, but I sure know that I would never use pressed wood in a known splash location.

AT WALLING CARPENTRY
Tom and his crew did a good job. They were on budget, finished on schedule, and reliably showed up on the job throughout the project. Also, by reputation and by my experience, they are trustworthy. The kitchen turned out great and the cabinets are much better quality than pre-built ones. It was money well spent.
