Recent Review: It was easy to make an appointment. Julian and his men came out within a few days, did an excellent job doing the repairs, and charged a very reasonable price. We would definitely use them again.

Recent Review: We finally decided to hire professionals to finish removing 20-year-old wallpaper from unprimed drywall and skim coat our bathroom walls and ceiling, since the project had already taken us 6 months, but the professionals promised to be done in a day and a half. Coincidentally, the bathtub drain in the bathroom above chose that day to leak into the ceiling that was being repaired, and Sean the handyman called the estimator, who came right out, enabling Sean to make a hole, clean the drain, repair the hole, and continue his work quickly and efficiently. The initial price included pulling the toilet out to get to the wallpaper, of course, but we chose to paint the room ourselves, which meant that either I'd have to crawl around behind the reinstalled toilet to prime and paint, or else the entire job could not be completed as scheduled. Sean graciously gave me his personal cell phone number and I was able to call him a week later when I'd finished painting, and he came over and hauled the toilet back in and hooked it up. He did a good job on the walls & ceiling & we'll certainly call House Doctors instead of attempting the next bathroom ourselves!

Recent Review: We found Mr. Kay just over a year ago and we have used him at least four times now. He is responsive, punctual, honest and provides excellent service. Sometimes it takes a couple of weeks for him to fit us into his busy work schedule, but we don't mind the wait! His work has always been excellent and his prices are very fair. He has performed the following work for us: *Removed popcorn from two bathroom ceilings and repainted *Replaced the motor in a bathroom vent/fan *Fixed a leaky sink and replaced the garbage disposal (He even gave us a used garbage disposal for free that he had on hand---it is still working perfectly) *Replaced weather stripping on all doors and adjusted door trim beneathe door *Reset wobbly toliet. We will be using Mr. Kay again soon to repaint most of the rooms in our house. He has been by to do the estimates already and is fine with doing the work one room at a time. We will continue to use Mr. Kay for any/all work that we need done!

Recent Review: This is a family business (Alan is the contractor with his son-in-law Larry as his most able assistant).  Dependable and trustworthy.  We had no reservations with them working while we were not home- a key reason why we hired them again for the kitchen counters and are on their calendar for another project! We appreciated their flexibility as we developed the plan since this was a total remodel.  Alan and Larry showed up ready to work and wasted no time tearing up the bathroom.  We decided at the last minute to remove the jetted tub and expand the shower.  Alan helped us come up with the plan to use the remaining space to put in a makeup vanity.   Alan also suggested putting in a pocket door which eased the entry into the bathroom while removing a poorly designed door.  The tile floor and shower are exceptionally beautiful.  Alan and Larry are superb tile layers and shower builders.  The transition from the shower to the tile floor is seamless.  Alan was able to install the rain shower head despite the high ceilings in the bathroom.  He was also willing to customize the shower to our specifications, including adding an additional niche.   Alan and Larry went the extra mile to provide us the highest quality product.  After tearing up the original tile, they discovered that the builder had cut corners on the sub-flooring.  Larry installed new sub-flooring.  The also found that the walls required additional insulation which they gladly remedied.  After the cabinet builder installed the new cabinets, Larry came back to touch-up the paint. No home renovation plan stays on schedule as planned, but the shipping delay for the drain floor was not their fault.  We also had to get fit into the granite company's busy schedule.  Alan always found a way to keep the project moving forward. We miss having them around and look forward to seeing them again for our next project.

AHalls Flooring
They did an excellent job. This is the sixth time we've hired the Halls to do tile work for us.  The first time was three years ago when our entire kitchen floor had to be replaced due to a leak. The Halls did such a great job that when we wanted our guest bathroom remodeled, we hired them again. It was the best thing we could have done. The Halls are creative and experienced. They had numerous ideas that enhanced the bathroom (we had it completely tiled from floor to ceiling), as well as having the old bathtub removed and remodeled as a shower. They were able to order marble for us at a better price than anything we could find in town. The bathroom now looks like something in a five-star resort spa. We hired them to remove the ugly popcorn ceiling on the first floor of our house and replaced with the knockdown (not sure if this is the correct term, but it is done by putting the plaster on the ceiling, then pushing it up so that it creates a design). They did an outstanding job. We had a second leak in our kitchen and had to have the entire floor replaced, again. We told the contractor to hire the Halls.  Good thing because we were told that we wouldn't be able to get the same tile that we originally had by the previous contractor. When my wife told Davin, he came back two days later and told us he found the manufacturer and placed an order for the tiles. During that job, they noted our stairs still had carpeting on them (we had all of the floors done in wood). We had been told that to replace our stairs with wood, we would not have use of the stairs for two to three days. The Halls took all of the measurements and built the stairs before taking out the old ones. They did the job in one day. Then, we just hired them to remove the old tile in our bathroom and replace it, and to fix our shower.  The first person to tile our master bath shower did a poor job of it, causing a serious mold problem in the shower.  Instead of putting a water proof shower pan on the floor under the tile, he installed a mud bed.  Besides that, he made it too deep. The shower floor was never able to dry completely. Davin took out the old tile floor, completely cleaned the area and installed a shower pan and new tile.  The shower looks like it's brand new. On top of that, he was able to get a cleaner for the grout so we were able to removed all of the old mold that had seeped into the grout. They are excellent workers and perform the best job. I would hire them anytime, for any job, in the future.

BONE CALL HANDYMAN SERVICES
One Call responded within one day after being called. They started work that day. After locating the problem causing the ceiling damage, they fixed the toilet ring and started work on the ceiling. An exterior door was ordered.A day later they finished the ceiling and installed the door. The following day the door was painted. They were always on time, professional and pleasant.

ARH Builders
I had an electrical fire in my attic due to faulty wiring and it ended up burning through a ceiling beam. There was also a 3x4 ft hole in my kitchen where the fire dept pulled down the drywall to make sure they got all the embers out of the insulation. Russel and his crew came out two days after I called and repaired everything in a quick and timely manner. Replacing the torn up section of drywall along with the beam and re-texturing the ceiling. Russell is a prior home contractor who decided to go just go into home repairs (less stressful/better work schedule I'm guessing), so he knows what he's doing. If you have been disappointed in the past with other repair services from the yellow pages (as I have) or a previous person you hired to repair something just made the problem worse (me again), this guy is who to call to make sure it gets done right the first time.

The crack in the master bathroom ceiling was getting larger by the day. The end results of his staff left job well done. He also new a furniture person that could fix a chair at a reasonable price, and even drooped it off after hours!
