Recent Review: Beyond impressed. Of the 3 Angie's List service providers I contacted for quotes, Dave was the first to respond and the easiest to communicate with. I wasn't sure about going with him at first, mostly because he initially gave me a rather vague verbal estimate (I like to have things in writing) and his estimate was SO much lower than the competition (less than half of the next guy's quote, and literally a QUARTER of the third!). But he was quick to break down his estimate for me via text when I asked and seemed knowledgeable and certain of the quality of his work, so we hired him. No regrets. He had told me upfront that he was already scheduling two months out, yet managed to work in our small job within a week. Looking at the trim he replaced and the wall Chris patched, you'd never know they had ever been damaged. They left the house as clean as they found it. Fixed a window screen they noticed, just because. And as a woman, I can't tell you how much I appreciated that they talked to me about the job like an intelligent person and not some helpless, clueless female. My husband came home when they were halfway done, and they still directed questions to me, their point of contact. Very pleased with the speed and quality of their work. I would recommend/hire again in a heartbeat.

Recent Review: I was getting ready to sell my house and wanted to make sure everything was in good repair.  I reached out to Brian Barb, Bravo Services, after reading his reviews here.  Brian responded to my initial email promptly. We settled on what needed to be done and what the cost would be and within ten days he responded and completed everything to my satisfaction.  I very much appreciated his attention to detail and he cleaned up when he was finished.  Well worth the price!  His number is in my phone and I have already shared him with two friends.

Recent Review: Work was begun on time and moved right along with the tub demolition which was no small task in very tight quarters. The original octagonal tile floor was in good enough shape, although cracked, to install the new tiles on top, saving yet more demolition but everything else had to go. The bathroom had never had an outlet so they were able to add that along with the new electrical fixture. The only slight wrinkle was the fact that somehow a hickory nut fell into the tub drain and was very difficult to remove. We still have no idea how it got there but if that is the only issue in an old house remodel you're in really good shape! The end product was very much what I had hoped for; meticulous tile work on shower and floor, rimless shower doors, wainscoting on the walls....reminded me of a posh European hotel. Well, a small one anyway.

Recent Review: I called Jim Dandy to the Rescue on a Monday and he answered the phone promptly.  He came out on Wednesday to give us an estimate.  He had told me from the beginning that he would be able to do the work in approximately 2 weeks.  We agreed on his estimate and he did begin the work in 2 weeks.  He came out when he said he would and arrived on time for both the estimate and on the 2 days that he was doing the work.  He worked very hard.  On the 2nd day of his doing the work, he had to work outside.  It was EXTREMELY hot that day and he worked without complaining and did a fantastic job.  We will definitely call him back as needed in the future. We are very satisfied with his work.

Recent Review: The orginal space was not designed for a master bath suite so we had walls removed and added, electrical was removed and added or moved, doors removed and replaced elsewhere. The original toilet, sink, shower area was so small. All the adjustments made everything so roomy. Chris demoed the tile walls and shower. (A huge job due to cement behind the tile). Removed a wall including electrical, recontructed closet wall and door. Replaced floor tile, tiled the shower. Added a shower door. Replace toilet, vanity and sink. We could not be anymore happy with the new bathroom and Chris' work. Chris was great to work with and cautioned me if an idea I had was not structurely a good idea and provided a solution. Chris was very punctual. The projected started 8/6/2012 and was complete 9/23/2012. Chris also handled my many changes in the original plan quickly and efficiently. I would highly recommend Chris and will use him again for other needed projects in this old home. (built 1950)

Recent Review: The work was done by specialty teams managed by a single project manager who was the customer facing representative. The project was completed within three weeks of the worst case time estimate. Delays were caused primarily by waiting for inspections and supplier errors beyond Gage's control, although there was some minor delays caused by team availability. Total cost of the project was 1.3% over the estimate. This difference was due to change control requested by us after the original cost estimate was delivered to us.  The project manager maintained good contact with us and the company owner visited the site from time to time and visited with us after the completion of the job to solicit our satisfaction.  We are very satisfied with the quality of the work and the materials that were selected by Gage, Our new bathroom is everything that we wanted and envisioned.

Reviews in Newberry to Repair Shower Door

DNajera's Small Projects, LLC
I was encouraged by the positive reviews on Angie's List, but unimpressed by my experience. To be honest, I was insulted by the ways Mr. Najera tried to upsell when he was giving his estimate. My personal favorite was when I asked him to replace the rubber strip that was coming off the bottom of our shower door. I must have a gullible face, because he insisted that I needed a whole new shower door. I showed him where the metal lip was screwed onto the bottom of the door and asked if he couldn't just replace that if the rubber strip couldn't be replaced (I knew it could). He insisted again that I would need to purchase a new shower door, and that he would install it for $200. I went with someone else, who spent all of $3 on a replacement strip and took 10 minutes to install it. In fact, the other guy completed all of the items on my list beautifully, for less than Mr. Najera quoted for the window trim alone.

I had used this person previously and he always did a good job.  I asked him for a quote on the job and decided to go with him.  When I hired him, he agreed to work on Fridays because that is when I am home. We agreed that it would take much longer this way but we both agreed to it.  He started with the frame for the tub and shower which took him several weeks.  He missed several weeks because he was sick and other excuses.  Many times while he was here, he would leave for several hours or come for just half a day. I had a deadline of March because of a wedding.  I had to give an advance for materials and at Christmas he asked for an advance so he could buy presents for his kids.  After Christmas, he called me and told me that his bid was too low and that if I wanted the work completed that I would have to pay three times the original price.  I fired him.  Everyone that came to look at the shower told me that it was done incorrectly and would have to be redone.

I had a list of small, simple items that I didn't feel like doing myself at 8 months pregnant. I got quotes from 3 different service providers on Angie's List. Of the 3, Bravo Services was the most professional, and the only one to give me a written estimate. Brian was courteous and knowledgeable and made some recommendations that I appreciated. However, the quote I received was definitely a "make it worth our while" quote and not representative of the parts or labor that would have gone into it. When I asked for clarification, I got a vague response that made me feel they had made up a price based on what they thought I would be willing to pay instead of what their service was actually worth. Needless to say, I went with someone else who completed everything to my satisfaction for literally a quarter of the price quoted to me by Bravo.
