He diagnosed the problem, called the office to see if they had parts in stock and returned three hours later to complete the job. The technician was professional, polite and friendly. Recent Review: We have used Dave's Heating and Air for the past 8 years.  David is always punctual, provides a great assessment and is honest, reliable and reasonable.  Our initial meeting was the handler of a unit had been serviced by another firm and they mentioned it had to be replaced for over $1,000.  David came over and indicated that from the date of manufacture, it was still under warranty (less than 1 month left), and labor costs would be $200.  He replaced it under the warranty. David had maintained 2 older (18 year old) units for 8 years.  Yesterday, he came over to assess both units going out within a few days (one a compressor and the other a Freon leak).   Due to the age, and improvement in newer units, he recommended a replacement rather than repair.   Since he is not installing anymore, he did provided excellent recommendations (and the companies he suggested are also rated A on Angie's List).

Recent Review: After a favorable experience with this company installing a tankless water heater, I had asked for a quote on replacing the central heating and air units in my house. About 2 weeks after I received base quotes for 3 different systems (good, better, best) my heat stopped working. A technician visited my house on a Saturday and explained the unit could be repaired but it was pricey, and the unit likely would continue to break. I decided to have a Trane system installed (best) as opposed to repairing my current unit. While the technician said he could come out Wednesday, I was later informed that it would be Thursday (best case) or possibly Friday. I asked if I could receive a phone call to firm up a date and time. I had to follow up on my request after receiving a phone call from the company asking for a 50% down payment. I was also asked at that time if I would be using the same card to pay the other half, which I confirmed. I asked for a reduced price as part of the quote involved installing a thermostat which I did not need. For that, I eventually received a $75 discount. I was told that the technicians would arrive first thing Thursday morning. First thing to Brasington is between 9:30 - 9:45 a.m. They arrived with the wrong equipment. They purchased a heat pump while I had a furnace to be replaced. After trying to talk me into having the heat pump installed and me declining, the owner went out to purchase a furnace. I will complement the lead technician on his professionalism, quality of installation workmanship and his willingness to answer questions I had as he progressed with the installation. The outside unit is sitting on a pad provided by Brasington that is slightly too small. Also, they had to disassemble my attic stairs in order to fit the furnace into the attic. I don't understand how a company in business for 75 years doesn't measure the opening and compare to the unit size to plan for these type of issues. It caught them completely by surprise and spent several hours troubleshooting this issue. I also had included in the price an addition of an air return and duct work, which we ultimately decided was not needed. Brasington refunded $125 of the purchase price. The work could not be completed in one day. The technician left without turning the gas on, so I had a cold shower Friday morning. I did not stay at the house for them to finish the work but wish I had. They workmanship on reattaching the attic stairs and the molding was one of the worst jobs I had ever seen. Finally, a subcontractor came out to do the repairs, but on the initial day he was supposed to show, he did not and did not call. After I tracked him down, he said he was out of town and didn't know how to get in touch with me. My biggest regret was providing my credit card for final payment. The funds were taken Thursday, without the work being done. And because all of the work in the quote was not done, they took too much of my money.

AE F Martin Mechanical Contractors Inc
E F Martin was one of the companies recommended by my AC repair person (who was in process of retiring).  The owner Andy Coggins came out to look at the units and provide a proposal.   Both units were very old (1985) and stopped working within a day of each other - compressor on one and Freon leak on the other.  They recommended replacement with the same size two, 2 ton (but a higher 14 SEER) units.  The weather fortunately was cool, but to get both done in one day, they sent out 2 installers and 2 helpers.   They removed the old units, installed the new and picked-up after themselves.  There were 3 shorter ducts that had some of the covering removed, and they taped and sealed them without asking.  I was playing site inspector (curious what they were doing), and every one was extremely cordial in answering all questions.   Follow-up - the day after, the office gave us a call to make sure the units were running properly.  Today (4 days after installation), the owner made an appointment to inspect the job, and made sure we understood about sending in the warranty information.  They were all very thorough, professional and came recommended.  I highly recommend E F Martin
