Recent Review: I had wished that I checked references. It has been over a year since we signed our contract to build and we are still not in the house. The contractor keep telling me I would be in my home by June 2018 however in July 2018 he left the job site for a month. The house was exposed to all elements because the door flew off the hinges and no one was around to put the back on. They stayed like that for over a month. The construction site was not only a mess it was hazardous. All the screens were destroyed and doors misaligned. His absence came at a crucial time during the protect. His vendors were calling me to schedule deliveries. Once he returned 4 weeks later he didn’t even call. I found out that he came back to the worksite because he was requesting another draw from our bank. The communication is pretty much none existent and we are constantly pressured to release more funds to complete the project. We are told that the project is over budget however we have never placed a change order. I provided the builder with over $5,000.00 in lighting fixtures and trusted him to adhere to our contract. We hope this nightmare will be over soon and be able to move in to our home however we are concerned about the future problems that may arise. We will be requesting a home inspection which I would recommend all home transactions. I mostly have videos of thre house documenting the conditions However the files are too large so I will attach photos.

Recent Review: I had numerous issues with leaking doors, cracked siding, and floors that were damaged from the leaking doors. The home was not termite treated and they put a lower priced hvac in without my approval. This guy does not stand behind his work.
Quoted price worked out to $166.00 per square foot which seemed comparable to building a single family home.

It did not. Paid $25,000 and NO WORK WAS DONE. No permits acquired, even though several text messages said they had been. Constant excuses about why there were delays. Signed contract with them in May 2016 and no work done by December, despite promise it would start on December 19. No permits were obtained for job in the town of Surfside. In fact, builder did not go into Surfside permit office since July 2016. I got an empty contractor permit box in my yard. I have filed a civil suit. They are not an accredited business with the Better Business Bureau, and their rating is an F, despite their Facebook/website claim of an A rating. Several complaints are on file with BBB. Do not trust Home Advisor recommendation! Also, go to the Public Index for Horry County and see the judgments already filed against them. I will be in line for getting my $$$ back. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY FOR ANYTHING.

AAMERI BUILT HOMES
Everything has been great. Any issues that came up they dealt with promptly and great to work with since February. They also were great at updating us on the progress of the build. The company would send us photo updates because they knew we were out of state to keep us up to date on what is going on.

Wonderful. We found them very knowledgeable and informative in helping us with whom needed to be called in at different times throughout the whole process. They provided itemized materials lists that would be needed as the job moved forward. They were even kind enough to provide us with a list of their most trusted subcontractors. We knew we were in confident and capable hands during the whole project. And we would most definitely hire them again, as we continue to give their name and number out.

Design, selections and home structure build were fine. Communications during first 80 percent of build were fine. The QA and finishing work was not professional. We ended up having to clean off cabinets, counter tops, windows and such because a cleaner would not show up. (so much for moving into a nice and clean house. Drywall finishing was very sloppy in some spots, I tried to get all drywall fixes done before we moved in so that we could avoid dust getting on personal items. "Cut-in" painting was terrible in spots. First couple post move-in fix visits were short and on time but some things were not completed. Builder claimed my post fix list kept growing, when the builder kept asking for the list so many times some things were accidentally left off and re-introduced on later lists. Company owner started coming to the house to do fixes, started drywall fixes and left them unfinished for two weeks. There were concrete, stucco and soffit fixes that he agreed to that kept being put-off and finally I said do not come to my house again. One of the Palm trees he installed died within 5 months of installation and he wanted the final approx. $2300 dollars before he would put in a new palm tree but never finished the work that I kept the final money out for. By the way he suggested I keep out the final amount for post move-in fixes he was to do before I paid him the final $2300 dollars. The house finishing work this contractor performed was sub-par and not professional. Tiled shower took for ever to finish because contractor would not show up or tile was cut badly (chipped) and had to be re-cut and re-worked. There are other items that need(ed) attention that I have not listed. My advise is to stay away from this home builder because they were very attentive until they had to fix things that were poorly done during finishing work. The pre-delivery quality assurance and finishing work was very sub par.

They were superb. They did what they were supposed to. My house is solid. He builds high homes. He responds to all questions. Everything was great. I would not hesitate to use him again. The whole process went well. He was very personable. His general contractors did the job to 100% satisfaction. He kept me updated on the process with pictures because I was out of state.

AA & A Builders Inc
The work was completed ahead of schedule, about 2 months ahead of time. A&A kept us informed weekly on all aspects of the work. He gave advice and suggestions on how work was to be done. He found the subcontractor with the best price and the work was done excellent. Also, I had some of my own materials for the house and he had no problem using my material. As for the budget for building the house, A&A was exceptional because even though we made changes, he still came within the budget. He is reliable, dependble, loyal, problem solver, and he goes out of the way to meet your requests. With us in Virginia and building our house in South Carolina, he made it easy and handle all problems. I will definitely use him again and refer him to everyone I know.

ABARKER & CANADY
Our experience with building our new home with Barker and Canady was great. We build our home while living over 900 miles away and they were extremely prompt with sending updated pictures and with feedback and also answering our multitude of questions. There were very few problems along the way and the ones we had were dealt with immediately and professionally. Once we moved in, the punch list was short, but all items were attended to quickly. I would highly recommend them to anyone building a new home in the Wilmington area.

The installation looks sloppy. The left side is off 1 inch from top to bottom. The right side is pretty square. The blame the building. The problem is that I asked them to erect the building to conform to the container and they would not. What ever happened to the customer is always right?
