Recent Review: I called David about 10:00 am and he was able to come out within a couple of hours.  he arrived and checked over one outlet that had been affected and said it was ok.  The other one would not reset so he replaced it. I also asked him if he had time to look at a toilet I was going to replace.  He did and instead of replacing ith with one I had already purchased new, he went and got a part and fixed the leak. Now I can get my $$ back on the new toilet.

Recent Review: We contacted Transword Electrical to come out and survey the wiring of our house using the CurrentSAFE program after a lightning strike. The service came recommended to us by our friend who used to be an electrician. I believe CurrentSAFE subcontracts through Transworld, but I believe the electrician was a Transworld employee (though, I'm not entirely sure).  The process was frustrating. When I first contacted them, I was told I needed to arrange an appointment to have them come to the house to survey, which made sense. That said, when the person arrived, it was only to 'check-out' the breaker box and a handful of outlets, as well as playing a brief PowerPoint presentation. Once we had gone over the presentation and the paperwork, I then had to schedule the actual appointment. This is what I found to be most frustrating! I felt everything in the initial meeting could have been handled electronically with a PDF and pictures, but instead I had to waste time having someone come out only to make another appointment.  The electrician was able to come out the following day, which was a relief because I was initially told he wouldn't have been available until the following week. The gentleman was on time, very polite and seemingly thorough. I didn't have many questions during his walk-through of the house, but he was able to answer the questions I did have. The process was very convenient (for us).  We were told by the 1st person (salesman, really) that we would have a report by Tuesday (he told us this Thursday in the initial meeting). By late Tuesday, I hadn't heard from anyone so I called to find out the status of our report. I was told the guy was 'unavailable' and to call in the morning. I called in the morning - he wasn't in yet. I was told he was busy but should have my report done 'around noon'. I called around noon and was told I needed to schedule another appointment to have someone go over the report with us - that person was the 1st guy we dealt with. We arranged a meeting for the following day, and upon arriving at the arranged spot, we were given the report. He sat there and watched us flip through the report without giving any real guidance about it (which, most of it was easy to understand). We had one relatively simple question, and he could not answer it. He proceeded to tell us that he was not an electrician and would have to call someone. I was very annoyed and frustrated at this point, and the process seemed very much like a waste of time. That said, he was able to get someone on the phone who was able to answer the question.  All in all, I would recommend the service for peace of mind - especially after a lightning strike! Just be warned, the process is kind of a waste of time and can be frustrating, especially if you have questions about the report.

Recent Review: They showed up within the 1 hour window and were done with 30 minutes. The only thing I was disappointed in was that this is a one and done surge protector...if the house is hit by lightning and trips the protector, there is no breaker to reset...it is blown and needs to be replaced for some amount of money (the installer did not know how much). Overall I'm still happy to have the added protection that hopefully will never be used.

Recent Review: This price is for the recent work that was done. The price is very reasonable. He came the day we called. He is very friendly. He was voted a favorite electrician out of the area in the paper. I will definitely use him again in the future and have already recommended him to others.

Recent Review: We had lightning strike a pine tree right behind our house that resulted in a computer, cable modem, router, printer and battery backup unit all being fried. I had suspicions that the outlet that I was using in my office was not working properly, then we had a power surge during the recent icy weather and lost another cable modem. I had discussed the problem with Mike last month but couldn't afford to have the work done then. I called Mike yesterday and said I really needed to get this situation fixed. He came at 1 o'clock this afternoon and when he checked the outlet in the office found that it was wired backwards and not grounded. He put in a new outlet and checked the grounding rod at the breaker box. It looked like it might be a good idea to replace it, so I told him to go ahead and do it. I also felt like the service to the office was inadequate for my needs and I needed a good grounded outlet for my computer and battery backup. Mike recommended running a new service line to the office. He put in a new circuit breaker and his helper ran wire through the attic into the office and put in a duplex outlet. Now I have 4 grounded outlets in the office and I have a dedicated circuit just for my computers and office equipment. No more extension cords!

CStan The Handyman
Stan was very friendly and punctual. He looked at our fan, which had been out since a lightning storm last summer, and after much tinkering - he determined that it was the fan itself that was bad. He didn't offer to replace it and seemed surprised when we suggested that we would like that done. He said he would have to get back to us on Monday, which was kind of disappointing since we called him out to fix our problems on the spot. My husband had to take off of work to be there at a time that would work with him, after all. I will say that he came out on very short notice, which was great - since it was kind of an emergency. This was in a mobile home that we are in the process of selling and we had potential buyers coming the next day.  Stan then looked at the hot water heater and found that there was no power going to it. He replaced a cord that was apparently damaged in the hot water heater installation. However, that did not fix the hot water heater. Stan said that he did not hear the water heater turning on and doubted that it was working. However, he made no offer to try to fix it. He suggested that we come back later to see if it was working - which it wasn't.  Stan was very friendly and talkative. When I saw the bill, I couldn't help but wonder if he was charging by the hour. If he was, he really took his time and talked a lot in between. $90 seemed a little high for not really having either of our problems fixed. We ended up having to get a plumber out that night who charged us another $90... but actually fixed the hot water heater. The fan, well, we'll install it ourselves.  Update: Stan also left a very nasty, aggressive and unprofessional message on my voice mail when he saw my report on Angie's List.
