Reviews in Mauldin to Spread Gravel

AGreen World Inc
Tom and crew did a great job. It started with me just wanting one retaining wall in the back and then I kept adding more as the pricing was competative and the work was inspiring! Tom was patient and would quickly and gladly provide me a quote when I asked time and again to add and quot;just one more thingand quot;. I had quotes from others and they were not as competative and kept pushing me to install decorative bolders and stones rather than the economical prefabed bricks I wanted and would write me off quickly (I'm a fairly young lady so I think they were not taking me as a serious job). Tom was vey professional and always got back to me quickly. He made me feel like a valued customer. He listened and incorporated all my ideas and provided good insight, recommendations and ideas when presented with situations of and quot;I don't know what I want here, but I hate it nowand quot;. So many thanks to Tom and crew. I even was getting compliments from neighbors walking by when I was clearing leaves in the fall. I highly recommed Green World Inc and will definitely be using them for all future jobs I have.

Tommy and his crew encountered an unforeseen problem with the gravel box when the soil, (clay), was so saturated with water, (from a record setting rainy summer),  it wouldn't dry after exposed to the sun for an entire day. Even though they probably could have gone ahead as is, (since the box would be filled with over 4 tons of gravel), they replaced the saturated soil with dry soil. The box was fitted with 2 drain pipes to insure the box will not hold water and stay dry.

ACREATEASCAPE
I liked their material selections. They were very cooperative on letting us pick specific rocks and boulders and that kind of thing. We could hand pick instead of getting a truck full of stuff. We told them exactly which ones we wanted put on the truck and then they delivered it. They have examples of the landscaping work that they do on their website and you can see it all within a short space. I think that their pricing was quite competitive. One of the reasons why we picked them was that their pricing was very competitive for some things, especially the ones we were going to pick, but they were more expensive for other things. They were also willing to order in a special truck to get more of what we were looking for.

AAccu-Brick Paving Systems
Our property, a small four-acre farm, had previously shared a driveway with our neighbors, which was on their property.  They informed us that they wanted to discontinue that arrangement forcing us to install a new driveway wholly on our property.  We had previously had a mostly gravel drive terminating in cement at that house.  The new route went in front of our home and necessitated the removal of our existing sidewalk leading to the front door.  The total length of the new driveway was in excess of a 1000' from the existing concrete at our garage to our road frontage.  We solicited several bids and looked at several different types of drives including concrete, asphalt, and pavers.  In the end we decided against concrete due to the way it weathers and can crack and against asphalt due to the regular need for maintenance.  We chose pavers for the portion in front of our home based on appearance and to add value to the home.  We opted to use gravel to run out to the road due to cost. The team worked very quickly.  The whole job, which was extensive and required substantial excavation was complete within one week.  We were able to take advantage of some price breaks from the manufacturer to lower our cost.  Our flexibility in being able to begin work immediately and to allow them to dump excess dirt on our property further reduced cost. We have been very pleased with the final product. We did want to have a small paver apron installed at the road before transitioning to gravel, but they essentially balked at that primarily because there were two natural gas access valves in the path.  However, Accubrick sold us enough extra bricks that I was able to complete that work myself.  That would be my only issue, but I think they were within their right to refuse work they were uncomfortable with.

ALittlejohn Landscapes
I had previously contacted Littlejohn Landscapes to give me a quote on building a retaining wall out of the Keystone cement blocks. His price for doing the entire job was very fair, however after discussing it with my wife and looking at pictures of retaining walls, we decided the look of a wood retaining wall would look better in our backyard, which backs up to woods and a creek. We also new since the are was going to be used for a playground, a railing would need to be installed. This would have been tough to do with the cement Keystone wall. Since I enjoy working with wood, I decided I would construct the wall myself and asked Littlejohn Landscapes if they would be interested in just doing the grading. After completing the wall, I called on a Saturday (8/6) to inquire on when they could come out to do the grading. They arranged to come over on the morning of 8/10 to perform the work. They showed up about 9am and where done before noon. He brought in about 3 dump trucks of fill dirt and 2 tons of gravel. They graded the area filling up behind the wall with gravel as they brought in the dirt. I also purchased some playground mulch locally and had them pick up the mulch to spread over the area once finished. I was very satisfied with the work they provided! Rick Littlejohn is very professional and always returned my phone calls promptly. His company was great to work with and I'll definitely be using them again for other landscaping projects in the future.

From planning to execution, Dave and his team did an outstanding job for us! Dave's attention to detail and direct supervision/oversight, along with his interest in working with customer input, helped to make the project go smoothly and to exceed our expectations.  He shared great ideas and worked with us to achieve the look we desired.  We were impressed by the hard work of Dave and his team in putting in long hours in even in inclement weather but always agreeable. Dave and his team showed up when we expected them and the cost was within the estimates discussed + our change orders.  We plan to use Dave and his team again as we contoinue to work on our landscaping plan.

DArtistic Landscape Design
We read the Angie List Reviews on several companies and interviewed 3 of them. We decided to go with Artistic Landscape Design since Marc was the most professional and personable owner. The work that Marc and his team did was poorly done. They started in the Fall (Sept 2016 time frame) and took several months to complete the job. We had major flooding problems in our back yard and sump pumps were installed to mitigate the problem. The pumps were installed but after every major rain event the pumps failed. We called Marc several times to let him know the pumps were not working and to his credit he came out to fix the pumps several times. It was clear about 2 weeks ago that we needed to get another company in to fix the sump pumps so they would consistently work. I actually had lost faith in Marc and was disappointed that we had trusted him to do the work correctly. When the other company came in to inspect the work, they found that the pumps were unsafely installed and were not grounded properly and were not functioning. The other company properly and safely installed new pumps. The Sod that Marc initially laid in our yard in the Fall died. We expressed our concern with the patchy look of the sod because the pieces were not installed uniformly throughout the yard. After going through the paperwork that we had agreed on we realized that Marc did not deliver the full amount that we had paid for. He reinstalled new sod in the Spring and some areas died immediately. We had express concern to Marc about those areas immediately after he laid the sod and he told us that they would be fine. Finally, his team had taken one of our shovels to borrow in the Fall. We called Marc on several occasions to get the shovel back. He did buy us a new shovel but he didn't get it to us until 5 months later. Marc is a really nice guy. I think he just takes on too many projects and spreads himself too thin and the quality of work suffers. The work that he did at our home was not done poorly and it was not done in a timely manner. We had to pay another company come in and redo the work that Marc had done. Unfortunately, we will not recommend him to our friends in the future.

ADONAHUE LANDSCAPING GRADING
Everything done exceeded our expectations in both quality of work and time accomplished.  I have rarely met someone so pleasant to work for.  Donahue's regularly gravels and grades our driveway and is working up plans for several more projects we have in mind.  If you have a project, call Donahue's.

He is wonderful. We've used him 4 times and we like him. All the jobs have been good. He was on time. He came with a bobcat and with enough crew to do the job. He forms it up and does his own grading with the bobcat. He puts in 4 inches of concrete. It is a mixture with fiber so it holds its own. We liked him a lot and we think he is great. We didn't have it priced out by other people because we were so satisfied with him but the price was fair. A lot of other people will short on concrete. We saw the trucks when they came in and it was fine. The work was fine. If we need him again, we would use him. He is a good person to do the work.
