Recent Review: Overall the key factor here was cost. Quotes from other local building firms to demolish the old 2 car garage, pour a new slab, and build a new single car garage with car-port, were in the range $24-30k. Going the pre-fab route, we were able to demolish and get the slab done for about $5k (did this independently, not via wood-tex), then $6700 for the new construction, so less than half the price all-told.

This contractor did an outstanding job. He was always on time and very professional. The area selected for the carport had to be graded first. The contractor personally performed this function, and then they started framing the structure. After the framing was completed, a roof was put down and a concrete slab had to be poured. The materials used were of good quality. The contractor matched the roofing as close as possible to the original roof on my house, although the original roof was already eight years old. The match was almost perfect. The contractor did exactly what I asked for. I requested that the carport be stained as opposed to being painted. The contractor matched the color of the carport to my existing fence. It took three days to complete and they were always on time and cleaned up the general work area at the end of each day. I asked that some special touches be added and the contractor came up with ideas that were even better than what I was expecting. I would highly recommend this contractor to anyone. He will be doing more work for me in the future, which will include, remodeling my kitchen. I had absolutely no problems with this contractor..

They are really very good. They come with a twenty year guarantee. It's all wood and treated lumber. It's not flimsy or shoddy like most of the work you get in out buildings. They were so good that I went and got a second one. They will be bringing it next week. I think they delivered in a set up level. They say what they are going to do and then they do it. They say that they can do it and then it's done. They are very prompt. Their work is very solid. Their product is the same as they advertise it. Anything in thousands is high for me but I feel like its fair and it was something that I wanted to pay for. I call them and the call comes back. The follow up was amazing. They just did everything that they said they are going to.

We purchased farm land and didn't realize all of the red tape that would have to take place to get all of the services needed to the lot such as; a tax map number, an address, water, electric, cable, etc. Because we live out of state, our contractor, PAUL, went above and beyond to get all of this preliminary work completed. Paul contacts us often to make sure all of our needs are met in the home, and just to keep us informed with what part of the process is taking place. So far we are very pleased with the whole process. Every inspection has passed the first time with no problems. Paul is very dedicated and hard working, and is very knowleagable in his field. We would definitely hire him again, and would highly recommend him, he has been a blessing to us. I would like to add that each crew he had working on our home was an awesome team that was professional and hard working. The foundation was poured on February 4, 2013 and the first wall went up on the 6th. As of March 22, the drywall has been mudded, and vinyl siding is completed. We should be moving in soon, and feel confident that we will be completely satisfied.

I first made contact through Angie's list on Feb 18th. Steve came out and I explained the work that I wanted done. The number one priority was to replace ALL of the cloth covered wiring in the approximately 60 year old house because of the safety concerns. He agreed and said he would put together an estimate. On Mar 15, I emailed Steve and asked if he had been able to finish the proposal. I received it 3 days later. The proposal was for $1675. At that time, I questioned the point that the proposal stated to run new wiring from the breaker box to the junction boxes and it did not specify replacing the wiring to the outlets and switches. I was told not to worry about it, it would be done. Steve stated that he could rewire the whole house in 3 days but didn't need 3 because part of it had already been done. The work was finally started on April 20th. After 2 weeks of him working on the house, Steve stated that he had completed the wiring work in the house, ran power to the shed, and had started troubleshooting the non-working lights on the driveway and carport. That Friday, I told Steve that I lost my job and would not be able to continue with the work. So, the bill went from an estimated $1675 to $2933 and the estimated time went from 2-3 days to two weeks. Here's the kicker... I still have cloth covered wiring in my house. I just went up in the attic to install insulation and I'm still finding old wiring. Steve is a very pleasant person and I realize that the original price was just an estimate, but if someone hires you, you should do the job you are hired to do... in the timeframe you agree to... and at the price you agree to.

Let me start by saying that I paid the contractor 100% of the agreed upon price up front (BIG MISTAKE). The construction on the sunroom started on Feb. 25, 2011. The contractor began work by himself at 11:00 in the morning and worked until 3:00 pm. This seemed to be his normal schedule except on the days when no one was at home. Then he didn't show up at all and nothing was accomplished. We were away often to take care of personal business and to go on vacation. The sunroom wasn't finished until the first week in June; a job that he estimated would take three weeks. He did eventually bring a small crew of helpers and subbed out the interior work. I had much difficulty in contacting him to start the garage and interior work. I had to threaten legal action before he returned my calls. When he began the site work, he piled up over two feet of sand and was going to dig a one foot footer on one corner of the building. He argued with me and everyone else that this was standard building procedure. The concrete contractor finally convinced him to dig down to virgin soil and to reinforce the concrete with wire in order to keep the concrete pad from cracking when the sand washed away. Also during this construction, the contractor used children, some as young as 10, to build the garage. I have pictures! He finally finished the interior work (flooring and cabinets) the second week of July. I say finished but he left without installing transition strips between the rooms and the bathroom. The work was shoddy at best. During rain, both the garage and the sunroom leak. The roof in the sunroom is leaking and the ceiling room has been damaged. He was told by the cement contractor to seal the base plate to the concrete to prevent the garage from leaking which he did not. I have made my second call to the contractor this morning and again threatened legal action if he did not return my calls. Do not under any circumstances hire this man to build even a dog house. Your dog will leave home!

They worked 4 to 5 hours to fix everything. He put on cabinet handles. I asked him how much I owed him and he said nothing just a few piece of candy. He told me that I have been taken advantage of enough. He took the time out from building his own home to fix mine.

terrible james stead man made so many mistakes all documented took us two months to fix he was hired by contractor who we hired james did all the work walls are off elevation off door openings off window openings off headers off do not hire jimmy steadman he cannot build he made a horrible mess plus he charged all materials on his account and we gave them the money for materials and labor they d/n pay the lumber yard terrible experience
