The A/C system in our 14 year old two-story house (one unit to cool both floors via a zone system) had been struggling for several summers. We'd had multiple service providers come out and do repairs, add freon, and tell us about the leaks in the coil and our need for replacement. After saving up the funds this Spring, we got estimates from several reputable companies in the area. Each one did a routine (and fairly quick) inspection before presenting their estimates--usually an expensive quote for an entire new HVAC system, including a new furnace (which we didn't need), and in one case a sales pitch for an impressive (but unnecessary) air cleaner system as well. Patrick's quote was the lowest by far, but it wasn't just the price that set him apart. Right away, he demonstrated that he cared about us and that he also genuinely wanted to help us save money. I've never had anyone, in any field, want to save the customer money! Furthermore, he took the most time and was very thorough, carefully inspecting every part of our system and also using an air gauge to test air flow. (To our knowledge, no one else had ever done that. But right away, Patrick was suspicious of faulty duct work - and he was right!) Afterwards, he explained his findings, recommendations, and our options in detail and in crystal clear layman's terms that my husband and I (who have no knowledge in air conditioning!) could easily understand. His analogies were great! Patrick's an excellent (and very patient) teacher. Yes, his knowledge and expertise are impressive, for sure - but just as impressive is his ability to explain everything so well to the customer (which, to me, shows how well he understands it himself) and also patiently answer questions. We really appreciated that! Long story short, Patrick determined that our original zone system was not properly designed, and the duct work in particular was undersized - resulting in high static pressure and causing some of the problems we were having with cooling our house. (Again, I don't think anyone else had ever taken the time to discover this; either that, or they simply weren't as knowledgeable as he is.) Patrick solved all of our problems by installing a new (and more efficient) A/C unit, which we knew we needed, but also by replacing the previously poor duct work and rerouting it where needed - all to bring our unit into the parameters of what it should be. He also added an additional supply vent in the ceiling of our stairway to improve the air flow and allow the system to "breathe" a little better as whole. Overall, he did a phenominal job - a perfect job. And he worked extremely hard...including long hours, and even coming back on Saturday. (One evening, as it got late we tried to offer him dinner...but he wouldn't take it out of thoughfulness for his wife; he said he knew she had worked hard to cook dinner for their family... I finally convinced him to at least take a sandwich on his way out so that he wouldn't pass out on the road home!) All in all, from start to finish, it was clear that Patrick's #1 priority was our satisfaction and doing the job right, all with excellence...He is absolutely relentless in his pursuit of both. Furthermore, Patrick is unusally thoughtful about the cost and looks to save you money where possible - again, I've never encountered this before, from anyone, anywhere else. He is truly the most thoughtful and customer-centric serviceman I have ever, ever met or worked with. And going back to the "doing the job right" part, I've read in several places that just as important as the SEER (efficiency) of your unit is the installation work done by the contractor. We could not have found a better contractor...Patrick hit it out of the park for us, and we are definitely getting everything out of our new system that we are supposed to - and more, especially with the improved duct work. Our new system performed beautifully this summer, and we saved on average around $100 per month!!! So Patrick gave us the cheapest quote, but the best service and the best work/job - AND saved us money this summer in our utilities bills. We could not have asked for more. Finally, and perhaps above all, I cannot end this review without commenting on what a rare individual Patrick is. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed working with him and also getting to know him, as did our 3 small children. :) He is not only a pleasure to have in your home, but a delight - truly a joy to work with. And I can't say that about anyone else who has ever done work on our home. You will NOT find another heating/air expert with more kindness, more character and integrity, more thoughtfulness, more trustworthiness...or with a higher level of excellence in both his work, and how he treats others. I've recommended him to all of my friends, and I won't hire anyone but Crisco from now on! Thank you, Patrick!
