Recent Review: My favorite Heating and Cooling company, One Hour Heating and Cooling, expanded their services a few years ago into plumbing. So I knew Benjamin Franklin Plumbing was trustworthy. I called them at 8:30 in the morning. We thought that our well pump was dead and needed a replacement ASAP!! They scheduled me in for after lunch. They called me back a few minutes later and moved me up to immediately! Someone would be here in a few minute;. !5 minutes later here they were!! My pump was tested and inspected in just a few minutes to see if it was something simpler to repair. It wasn't. Benjamin Franklin's plumber explained that I was right. We discussed my options, ain't many, I live in the woods. I told them we would haul water from the creek to flush with until it was repaired. They headed to the office to have them contact me about times and scheduling. I expected a two day wait because every place I spoke to when I was thinking of doing it myself had a overnight wait. My baby girl came running into the kitchen, squealing that the water mens were back. I had water less than an hour later. I know what a pain replacing my well pump can be; My husband and I installed the deceased pump a decade ago. They worked together better than an old married couple, a real team. Benjamin Franklin Plumbers were dressed professionally, well-spoken, friendly, concerned, and kind. I had two sick children at home from school, no water for over a day, a home full of escaped parakeets, and two 2 liter bottles of frozen water. They could have made my day harder. Instead Benjamin Franklin Plumbing made an effort to get me my water on the same day. I really appreciate the service from Benjamin Franklin Plumbing now as much as I do with One Hour Heating and Cooling Service. I will use Benjamin Franklin Plumbing the next time I need a Great plumbing service!! About Price, I am thrifty (cheap). I was pleasantly surprised by the modest price. I had priced pumps on-line when the pump first died. I must have water and a pump is my only option. So I was expecting a really big chunk of a price, a real chew and swallow since I was repaired so fast. I about fell out with relief when Ms. Diane gave me the price. I wouldn't need to sell my firstborn to the gypsies; She was very disappointed.

Recent Review: He did an excellent job on the heat pump. A pipe coming out of the house got disconnected, he reconnected it. The toilet was leaking and he fixed that too. It took about 15 minutes for the heat pump. They were here for about a total of one hour. They were a little expensive. The trouble is that they hire new workers who train on the job. Sometimes the job is not up to par.

Two plumbers arrived "exactly" on time as per my appointment to access my situation. After some "detective" work in which they pulled my submersible pump out from the bottom of my well they explained to me in clear detail what it would take to fix my problem. I okayed the repairs. They didn't have all the necessary parts so they called another plumber in their company who arrived in short order with all necessary parts to make the repairs. They replaced the submersible pump, check valve, pump pressure switch and other misc. fittings. The job overall took approx. 2 1/2 hours. They were very courteous and professional throughout the whole process. I thought the price was fair and reasonable. I would definitely use their service again and would recommend them to my friends.

We had problems with our pump. He cane on to fix it; however, left us with sand in our lines both upstairs and down stars. He disassembled our pump house and never put it back together. When called regarding all the sand in the lines and water not working. He never responded or called back. I tried calling again and literally got cursed out. Very unprofessional...Will never use again!!!

It went very well. The service was completed very quickly and we have a new Trane water pump that works very well and is quiet. The other services were also completed quickly and the whole process only took 3 days from signing of contract until work was completed. Highly recommend.

The good part about the company is that I got an appointment the next day and the technician that come to the home was very courteous and continuously worked the entire time he was at my home. The problems first started when I called in for an appointment and explained my issues with my well pump. I asked if they wanted to know the information on the size of my holding tank because I live in a very rural area and if they needed supplies the travel time alone for a round trip would be 1 hour.  I was told no, that the technician would determine what he would need when he got to the home and that they had suppliers in the area to get what was needed. The technician got to the home and checked underneath the home for leaks.  Upon finding no leaks he said it appeared as if the holding tank needed to be replaced as well as the switch and pressure gauge.. He said he had brought a new switch and a pressure gauge but would have to get a new tank from the supplier.  I had a 20 gallon tank but my water pressure was low and I wanted to increase the pressure so I asked if  we were going to replace the tank how much additional would a 32 gallon tank cost over a 20 gallon tank.  He said about $30.  I said let?s go with the bigger tank and asked for a price quote.  He quoted $742.50 which included the 10% senior citizen?s discount.  I said that seemed high and he said that the cost included the parts, his labor at $195 an hour plus the cost of a repair visit and that was the best he could do.  I agreed and he then asked for the nearest Lowe?s location.  He left and 1 ½ hours later he returned.  When I looked at the box for the tank it was a 20 gallon tank and not 32.  I asked why I did not have the 32 gallon tank and he said the 32 gallon tank was $150 higher than the 20 gallon tank so he got the 20 gallon tank instead.  I said then that must mean he would reduce his original quote.  He said no that the price he quoted me was actually for a 20 gallon tank.   When I said I did not want to put the 20 gallon tank in because I wanted the additional pressure, he called the office and they  gave a further discount of $42 dollars and the repairman said he could improve the pressure because he was putting in a 30/50 switch to replace my existing 20/40 switch. The repairman replaced the tank, switch and pressure gauge and it did not fix the problem. The technician then heard a sound like escaping pressure or water returning to the well.  He then said, ?I wish I had heard that earlier? (which I mentioned to him in the beginning before he started work).  He said that my check valve was bad at the foot of the well and that I would have to call a well person because he did not do well work.  At that point I told him that although I was better off with the newer parts, I still had the problem and I did not think it was fair for me to be out $700 and still have the problem.  He called the office and handed the phone to me and I talked with a young lady and she asked me what I thought was a fair solution.  I said, what I thought a fair solution would be would be for me was to pay for the parts and the hour labor that was quoted to put them in.  She said she would have to contact a manager and call back.  When she called the repairman back, he told me that they had checked with a manager and that the price could not be adjusted and the best they could do would give me a discount on future repair work.  Why would I want that if I am not happy with the current repair work? I contacted my well person the next day (Saturday).  He came out within two hours, never had to pull the well, installed a $26 check valve in the pipe between the tank and the above ground well entry point, adjusted the pressure in the tank as well as the switch all within 1 hour and charged me $100. I wrote the owner of the company a detailed letter outlining my experience giving him an opportunity to respond.  He called me back the next week saying he was going to meet with everyone involved and get back to me.  When I did not hear from him within a week I called and left a message asking for the results of the meeting.  The administrative assistant called me back and said they were giving me a refund of $450 and were using my experience as training.

AServant Plumbing of Mt.Pleasant
I got a call from my renter saying the well pump continually ran. Found a busted water line underneath the house. Immediately searched Angie's List. Called Louie and discussed the job. My house was built in 1933 and is pretty low / nearly inaccessible in places. Louie sent his guys right out, discovered the old service lines had rusted through. Louie called me and we discussed the price. His guys came out and stayed not only all day, but until 10pm so my renter had water back. Louie is a good Christian man who is very pleasant to deal with, explains what needs to be done, and sticks with it till the job is complete. I highly recommend him, and will definitely use him again (but hopefully not to soon! :)
