A very knowledgeable and pleasant salesman,Marty Hunnter, came to our house exactly at the appointment time.He gave his "pitch" and we were pleased with price, quality, and warranty. The very next day the installers arrived.as promised.Their work was excellent and they were very good, actually  outstanding and they  stayed  until 8:30     cleaning up and finishing details  On a scale of 1 to 10 I would rate the experience a 10! no detail was left undone.

I first met Jodie while he was building a large room addition, residing, and re-roofing my brother's house. I was impressed with his knowledge and workmanship. He always strived to keep the customer happy and do the job right, whatever it took. I later hired Jodie to install two different types of laminate flooring in 5 rooms of my house. I couldn't believe it, but he was in and out in 3 days. Everything was perfect.

CSteel City Flooring
In May 2014 we scheduled a sales associate with Steel City Flooring to come to our home for an in home consultation. He showed up on time, was very pleasant, easy to work with and did not try to up sell us on anything. Our request was for approximately 400 square foot of laminate floor and 25 square foot of ceramic tile. The gentleman was on site for about 30 minutes and gave us a quote for the services and said the total installation would take 1-2 days. We were not yet ready to commit to this and said we needed to think this over some more. We waited 4 days and then decided to stop in the West Mifflin store to purchase the flooring and installation. When we arrived, we asked for the sales associate we had come to our house. We were informed he no longer was with the company; however the sales associate that was present was happy to assist us. He had the paperwork from our consultation and we said we were going ahead with that quote. He said he would look it over and be right with us. A few minutes passed, and he informed me that the quote was wrong. Some items were left out, calculated incorrectly, and the free carpet lift (as promised) was not included with laminate flooring. This amounted to an additional $800 that would need added to the cost and it would take 2-3 days for the installation (1 more day than originally promised ? No big deal). He did say he would work with us and we could split the difference at $400. We decided to still go with Steel City Flooring even with the adjusted pricing. About 2 weeks passed and I received a phone call that the items we purchased (Paid in full) were at the store and they wanted to schedule delivery. I immediately said that I had a truck and would be driving by the store and could save them a trip. They seemed appreciative and I stopped by, loaded the materials myself and delivered to my house. The installation was scheduled for 2 weeks later. I called Friday before the installation date to confirm, and I seemed to catch them off guard, but I thought maybe I was wrong. Sure enough, on the installation day (June 3, 2014), a sub-contractor arrived at my house. He told me he didn?t know about the job until 1 day prior and the company begged him to accept the job. He was on site at my house until June 11 (a total of 5 days because of the weekend and he took a day off). After the 5th day, he realized there was not enough laminate flooring to finish my hallway (approximately 15 square foot needed). He called the store and they agreed to order it and would schedule with me to get the job finished. The sub-contractor packed his tools and was gone. I called Steel City a few times to keep reminding them the job needed finished, and finally we were able to schedule to get this complete, I had to stay on top of them to get this scheduled. Their installer Ken arrived on time and completed the job promptly and professionally, no complaints about the installer. In July 2014, I called to inform Steel City that my floor was buckling up in my dining room ? Part of the original installation. They said they would file a claim. A few days later, I received confirmation that the claim was filed and we scheduled them to come out to fix the issue. Due to some confusion or paperwork mix up, my repair did not occur and I was told it would be rescheduled. On October 1, 2014, I stopped in the West Mifflin store to find out the status of rescheduling this repair since I had not heard from them, and had been unsuccessful getting ahold of anyone by phone. The sales associate at the store was nice, and more than happy to help. He apologized for the company not getting back to me, and they scheduled the installer for the next day. October 2, 2014, Ken arrived and corrected the installation that the sub-contractor had completed. He was efficient, polite, and great to work with. In summary, we purchased our flooring from Steel City because we liked their products and their prices seemed reasonable and fair. We worked with the company from the start ? With the incorrect original bid and even delivering the materials ourselves. We were satisfied with our floors but the installation was a longer than desired process. We originally were told 2-3 days and it ended up being 6 days spanning 3 weeks, so for that extended time our home looked like a construction site. The company sells decent products at reasonable prices, everyone I dealt with face to face was polite and courteous however; it seems that something is lacking organizationally. I had to repeatedly call the company to check on the status of completing my installation and then settling a claim and eventually stop in the store in person. I believe this was more work for me than I should have expected. We are now not even 2 years from the installation and are looking to replace the flooring. It did not last as was promised at the time of the sale. The flooring seems to be low quality.

A Had insurance claim to replace carpet in basement. Steel city flooring was cheaper than molyneux for replacing carpet with all laminate. I ordered the laminate and scheduled the install. Installers called for install date said I had to pay them first and then they can make a date. Against my better judgement I paid since Thanksgiving was coming up fast and we wanted the basement done. Installers called one day before install and said they had to reschedule because some of our floor was damaged from shipping. They came out a week later. The installers were great, fast and professional. The flooring I ordered had padding on the bottom of the planks and the padding that they brought wash't needed. They managed to get me a refund for the padding that they didn't use which was great. Here's where I'm having an issue and why steel city flooring has bad grades. The transitions For my existing tile and the new laminate were wrong. I needed a T transition and they brought me a reducer. They said that they would order the correct pieces and that it would take them about an hour to install. Fast forward 4-5 weeks after install of the laminate and I'm getting the run around from steel city flooring. It's one excuse after another as to why I don't have the transitions and installed. Now with family coming In for the Holidays I have a 95% completed basement floor and now I'm not getting any return calls from vendor. I'm now considering small claims court and possibly I'll get results.

I had a very good experience with this company. Lisa (one of the owners) was so helpful with my selection of colors and materials. Their price for the project was very good. They were very punctual and professional throughout. I was very pleased with the finished product.

Everything went well.  They installed the wrong molding at first, but they returned quickly to install the correct kind.

They completed the job, but the installation was very poor. They cracked the trim, left gaps between the various pieces of tile and also where the wall meets up the floor.  The job is about 75% complete and feel we didn't get what we paid for. After they installed it they said, "We cannot get the floors wet." These floors were for a kitchen and bathroom which was frustrating because they are going to get wet.

I couldn't be happier with Elite!!! They did such a beautiful job and are really nice guys! After a extremely disappointing experience with a local big box store, I ended up using Elite to install the laminate instead.  Rob had given me an estimated time of four hours to rip out the carpet and install the laminate. I never expected it to go that smoothly, but it was actually done in a little less time and it looks fantastic!!!   I recommend them HIGHLY..in fact... I loved their work so much that I will be having them come back soon to do the floor in my bathroom and hallway.

The job took 3 days from start to finish. The laminate was laid 1st. It took 2 days. They came in the first day and removed the old carpet and old laminate flooring in the kitchen. Cleaned up every thing really well & got to work on installing. Worked about 8 1/2 hours the 1st day. On the 2nd day finished laying the rest of the floor and did all the finish work and cleaned up really well. This day they worked until they finished the job, probably were here about 10 hours. The following day the carpet crew came removed the old and installed the new in about 8 hours. They moved all the furniture all we needed to do was pack away the breakables.

Recent Review: When I called for an estimate, the owner sent his skilled finish carpenter to review the project and discuss options for replacing the floor. I appreciated that he arrived exactly on time and took my preferences to heart. He devised a plan to replace the floor on the wrap-around porch without damaging the decorative trim on the posts and the hand-made railings. Of the three companies I arranged to review the project, this was the only one that was willing to approach the floor replacement without removing the posts and railings. I'm delighted with the how careful the workmen were throughout the three-week project, the fact that they cleaned the job site at the end of each day, and I'm extremely pleased with the results. Although the composite decking was expensive and a french drain was added to the project to prevent run-off water from collecting under the ground-level flooring, the final cost was on par with one other estimate and significantly lower than the other. The owner, Michael Healey, came to the job site three times: he reviewed the initial proposal on his first trip, and then came on two other occasions to make sure I was comfortable with the quality of workmanship and the rate of progress. I suspect I would not have received the same personal attention from the other companies that bid on the project. With future construction-related projects, I will need to make only one call - which will be to The Healey Company.

He was very professional and honest. He showed up when he said he would and did quality work at a reasonable price. The new hardwood floors look great and very happy with the service. I would definitely reccomend.

Recent Review: Dan is the best contractor I have ever deal with. I've owned rental property for 10 years and have dealt with multiple contractors but Dan is head and shoulders above the rest. I almost wish I had more work to do because he's so capable and reasonable! Dan is the best because he is super responsive, consultative, smart, and works to make sure you are taking the best course of action. He gave me a two page breakdown of the work he was going to complete with descriptions, prices, and contingencies all spelled out. He adapted the plan as the project unfolded and kept me informed along with the way with texts, pictures, and calls. What a standup guy! I hope that when I need help again that is available and is not too popular.

Recent Review: Owner Ron was great upon consultation. Workers (I think Josh?) and his crew were young but wonderful and hard working. Did a whole upstairs in laminate floor that looks awesome and downstairs in vinyl that also looks great. Worked with us on humidity problems and provided great suggestions. Can't beat price point and professionalism. I would use again in heartbeat.  Got it done quick and even came on a day off to finish banging it out for a move in with my new family.  Couldn't recommend more highly. Tryingn to convince my mother in law to replace her floor with them now.

Recent Review: Great people, great service and fair prices. This project was a dream. Bill from At Home was so patient in finding just the right wood that works perfectly in my living room and coordinates with existing flooring in the kitchen. He was equally great at finding the perfect vinyl plank flooring for my basement. I met him because he was willing to come in on an emergency basis to tear carpets out two days before Christmas!
