Pool World Inc.
Business Description: Purchase a new hot tub or pool from a swimming pool company you can TRUST in Shamokin, Pennsylvania. At Pool World Inc., we have the knowledge and experience to build your water refuge and finish the job correctly the first time. Established in 1989, we never compromise our quality for profit. As the first company to introduce fiberglass in-ground pools to Northeastern Pennsylvania in 1993, we know our customers respect our professional service and quality products. More than 68% of our business is based on referrals from customers satisfied with our above- and in-ground pools, hot tubs, and spas. In Swimming pool business for over 30 years. Current store in existence since 1989. Professionally installing Fiberglass pools since 1995. Installed over 2000 Fiberglass pools. We train new dealers for our fiberglass manufacturer, Sun Pools. Full time, In house installation crew, not summer help. Sun Pools distribution point for the northeast. 8-12 fiberglass pools on display at all times. Unlike most of our competitors, we do not just sell out of a brochure. 30-40 fiberglass pools in stock. This equals faster scheduling of installation and better prices. Unlike most of our competition who has to order each pool for each job. This means 4-6 week delays and higher prices. Pools are shipped to the jobsite by us, using our trucks and trailers. This equals fewer delays. Unlike most of our competition, who has to depend on their manufacturer's schedule and equipment which Increases delays and prices. Due to our extensive experience, in-house crews, and large inventory, we always have complete, up-front pricing. From excavation to swimming, it takes us approximately 10-12 hours to install your fiberglass pool. Expect our competition to be in your backyard at least a week. Our Fiberglass pools are always installed using a 1b stone base and 2b stone backfill. This creates a solid base for our pools that allows drainage of ground water from around pool. Unlike most of our competition that uses sand for the base; and sand or dirt from the excavation to back fill. This is not recommended in the northeast due to heavy underground frost conditions and does not allow proper drainage which increases the chances of a pool shifting or ?popping? from excessive hydrostatic pressure from ground water. We install well-points and run perforated drain pipe to daylight; this moves ground water away from the pool to relieve any hydrostatic water pressure for the life of the pool. Unlike most of our competition that relies on a $10 hydrostatic relief valve that has an expected service life of 6-8 years. Our fiberglass installations are covered by Harford Insurance against ?pop-outs? to give our customers added peace of mind.

Aqua-Docs
Recent Review:  Contacted them in Feb. 2013 about replacing my liner. They responded quickly and gave me a very reasonable estimate, lower than the others. I was hoping to have the work done by Memorial day and with the cool spring time was running out. About a week before Memorial day I gave them a call and they set up an appointment the next week. They showed up after lunch and in about 31/2 hrs. they had the liner in and  Kurtz Bulk Water was pumping water in the pool. They lined up the water delivery, everything went real smooth and I was tickled as could be! I would recommend them to replace pool liners! Thanks Aqua Docs!

ALL POOL DEMOLITION CO
Recent Review: We wanted to remove our non-working in-ground pool for some time. We had a few years use out of it, but there was always something wrong with it and it was too costly to maintain. So after a few years getting other home improvement projects done, we finally were able to move forward with removing this eyesore. All pool demolition is the best at what they do. Their price was fantastic for the superb job they performed. Every detail and workmanship was spot on. Our pool removal project included a total of three appointments. They were punctual each time and worked diligently in a professional courteous manner. They were also very responsive with correspondence. Their all-inclusive price included a lot, and they never strayed from that price. We feel we received a bargain for what they did, and we didn't have to lift a finger. Our lawn looks beautiful now, and we can enjoy our yard now. Here's what they performed: Contacted town and set up permits, Completely removed all pool parts (pool, liner, filter, etc), Broke down and removed surrounding fence, Collected and ver neatly palleted all pavers surrounding pool (this was a job in itself), Filled hole and surrounding pool area with clean fill, Seeded and mulched entire area, Returned and filled any uneven areas and reseeded

Reviews in Saint Clair for Pool Installation

FCrystal Clear Swimming Pools Altoona
It was a nightmare.  The pool was installed incorrectly, damaged, our yard was destroyed and he refused to acknowledge that there was a problem.  We have pictures of the bottom of our pool covered in concrete, a concrete trowel left on the bottom of the pool, and pictures of the damage to the yard and pool.  All along he denied everything.  He kept telling me not to worry.  Our pool was supposed to be installed within 1-2 weeks.  What a joke!!!!  He filled the pool before back filling it causing it to bow and after he said it was installed the pool would shake and you could here that the steps were hollow.  Leisure pools did not stand behind the product either.  The girl I was working with suddenly didn't work there any more.  We had to hire an attorney.  Buyer beware, his contract had a clause in it that stated he had the right to confess judgement against the buyer without going to trial.  According to the attorney general website this is not legal.  This whole experience was horrifically stressful and he was far far less than truthful.  We had to hire another pool installer who had to redo everything including taking the pool out of the ground bringing it up above grade, cleaning, running new pipes, smashing up the poorly excuse for concrete that was poured.  I cant thank Bob Mathews enough for coming to our rescue.  My crystal clear swimming pool was  a disaster!!!!!!!  I don't think I could express into words how bad...

FAlpine Pools South Hills
Having talked with Alpine Pools at the 2013 Pittsburgh Home and Garden Show...we subsequently called them for an estimate. I believe that was late in March. They showed up on time to give us an estimate and we have not heard from them since. I have called them 3 times and left messages that we were ready to proceed with our pool. This is a huge project probably in in $30K range. They have yet nearly 2 months later to call us or send us an estimate. I then noticed on Angie's List that they do not have a good rating. I do not intend to call them or ever use them. In this economy I can not believe that they just blow off a great potential job.

It went terrible. These people should NOT be installing in-ground pools!! They do NOT have the knowledge or experience!! The owner uses service men who are unqualified and inexperienced. The owner talks a good pitch, but he himself knows nothing about in-ground pools and gets cheap labor who botch things up. We are SOOO sorry we used this local business. We had to get another pool company to repair & complete his job, and yet he wanted all his money.

BHot Water Inc
What happened:We needed to replace our in ground pool liner. I called 6-8 different retailers in our area to get quotes. Hot Water was one of them. We only got an estimate from them for replacing the liner and doing fix ups to our pool. Did we choose this company: We choose not to go with them because their quote was very low compared to the rest of the retailers. It made us question why it was so low and it made us uneasy. See other reasons in last paragraph.  The visit from the company:A gentleman and lady showed up and only measured the width and length of our pool. They did not provide anything to us in writing on the spot and they also left their measuring tape behind at our home (it was returned to them). They did not take specific measurements, which meant they were going to need to come back to do so and take longer to order the liner. They also did not bring samples of liners or patterns with them to our appointment (took place at our home). They were nice and seemed to know what they were talking about. They were offering to give us the same thickness of liner as others, to replace gaskets (but not face plates), to patch the cement where needed, to remove the old liner but they would not dispose of the liner, they would not fill the pool for us, also not included was replacement of wall foam. Over all, we would go to their store to purchase supplies if needed. In the future will we call them again: yes. What we did not like was, they just were not as professional/organized as other companies, very low estimate. They were also not going to dispose of the old liner for us and that would cost us extra money with our trash man.

DArtesian Pools And Spa
I am highly unsatisfied with this company for two main reasons. 1. In the spring of 2011 they came to our home to replace the "liner lock strips" that fit between the top of our liner bead and the coping around our pool and to stretch the liner back in to the metal rails around the top of our pool. They got the liner to back in and they put in place all new strips. They did tell me that they installed the liner 5 years prior. (this will be relevant in the last paragraph). 2. This year they would not come to our home as stated in the "services performed" section of this narrative UNLESS we provided them with a 50% deposit towards the payment of a new liner on the day they came to take the actual measurements. They did give me an over the phone quote that included the following: Only a 20ml liner, no 28 ml liners offered for the same price, no filling of the pool water but they would schedule it, there was extra charge for replacement of wall foam, they would replace gaskets and face plates for no extra charge and to give us up to 3 buckets of patch for the bottom of the pool at no extra charge. Would I go to their store: yes, they have a very large and nice show room with a variety of pool products. It is the nicest one in the area. They do also have a large and informative website. Their price was very competitive. Why we choose not to go with this company:If they originally installed the liner 6 years ago (as of this year), they should have used a deeper "bead" style to fit the lock system that is original to the pool (we do not have a typical in ground pool) . This made us question how familiar they are with our style of pool and if it could be done correctly this time. Also we were highly put off when they would not even come to our home to look at the pool and to give us the estimate unless we basically went with their company by paying them the 50% down the day of the estimate. If they came and looked at the pool and the in person quote was much higher then the over the phone, how would we be able to provide the difference? This basically would force us to go with them. Out of the 8 estimates we got they were the only company who would not physically come to see our pool . We were very disappointed.
