Recent Review: My home is a very old historic home and I was very pleased with the way it turned out. The job was complex as the wall that was removed supported three stories of the house. Joe is very thorough and even brought in a structure engineer to ensure the work was done right. His team are very personable, responsive and clean. Everyday the house was left better than how his men found it. I have used Joe for multiple projects both complex and simple. He is the only contract I use after years of reliable service.
Recent Review: They did a great job! We purchased our home about 7 months ago. When we purchased it, there were some cracks in our foundation as well as some slanting of our floors. After reviewing several structural engineers, we decided to go with Structural Engineering Services. Andriy did a very thorough inspection of our structure and provided solutions to all of our issues. In total, he spent between 90 minutes to 2 hours performing the inspection. In addition, he'll be sending a report of the inspection (the inspection took place only 2 days ago). Would highly recommend!
Recent Review: We needed a beam sized and spec'ed quickly for a complex renovation to an older home. Steve came to the rescue and was able to visit the site and provide the perfect solution to our problem. He is a structural engineer who thinks outside of the box. We appreciate his professionalism and how he is always happy to help where he can. We highly recommend Steve and the Structure Labs Team for all of your Structural Engineering needs. He will not let you down.
Recent Review: Mark Grimaldi promptly returned my call to schedule for an estimate. Mr. Gramaldi was on time for the appointment and his professional assessment was that I needed a structural engineer to assess the house to determine the soundness of the structure and make recommendations. Mr. Grimaldi contacted Franklin Engineering and referred me to them. I appreciated Mr. Gramaldi's professional approach. His recommendation to a structural engineer was done in order to insure any proposed work would resolve the problems in an effective, practical and economical way.

Bob was very responsive and professional. He took the time to not only perform the evaluation at our home, but walked through the potential issues subsequent to the report being issued. Recommended to others.

Bob was pleasant to work with and would highly recommend. He took the time to ensure all of my questions were answered and needs were met. The complete process went smooth and was exactly what I needed to complete our renovations. He was very prompt in responding to any inquiries I had. I had also shopped around to a few PE's prior and he was by far the most reasonably priced.

It was good overall, but I had to get the inspection done twice because I got a verbal first and then the lender asked for a written report. Since a few weeks had past, I needed to pay for a full report.

The engineer was extremely knowledgeable. Told me facts about the house that were truly exciting. For example it was built about 70-80 years earlier than listed on the deed. He told a story about the brick wall. Every little detail was accounted. The best!

Mark the owner seemed to be the only real contact for the company; and whether he was uninterested in the work we had to offer, or just plain disorganized and forgetful, it became OUR job to constantly chase him down, remind him of tasks he said he would accomplish, and for a lack of a better term, babysit a person who we wanted to pay money to so they could correct an issue for us. I can't testify to his work, because we were so exhausted from chasing him down that we didn't use him; but I can say that after sharing my experiences with family members, that several of them said they had interacted with Mark in the past and chosen not to do business with him for similar reasons. Perhaps he's a great craftsman (I couldn't say since we never used him), but you could get better service and greater professionalism from a random GC on Craigslist. Steer clear.

Our mortgage company's assessor required a structural inspection of the property we were purchasing prior to finalizing our mortgage. Kachele was suggested by the seller and as our own realtor's suggested structural engineer was booked and we needed the work done quickly (before the closing date) we hired Kachele. They came out (arrived and completed the work with only the seller there not with us / our realtor) and looked at the property and wrote up a stamped letter that said the property was structurally sound. When our realtor arrived they were finishing, he asked what Kachele thought and they said everything was fine. So we purchased the home. Our regular home inspector had noticed what he thought might be some cosmetic damage on the front of the house / enclosed porch. After Kachele came out and said there were no red flags or things to be concerned about we assumed they too had seen this issue on the front of the house and determined it wasn't worth mentioning / that it was cosmetic. After purchasing the home, we had a contractor out to deal with what we thought was this cosmetic issue (something our roofer suggested we do before he completed some necessary repairs). When the contractor came out he immediately suggested (without opening anything up, just visually) that we might have a structural issue. When he opened things up his suspicions were confirmed. He said we needed to have a structural engineer out to inspect and do drawings for a permit for the repairs and that perhaps the company who gave us a clean bill of health would come out and do the work for free or a discount because they missed such an obvious (as in visible without touching the house) issue. We contacted Kachele and they were completely uncooperative, rude and unhelpful. They intimated that we did not know what we hired them to do and that they only were hired to look at the foundation (which was not what the mortgage company had required - the mortgage company had required a full assessment of any potential issues due to settlement of any kind). They refused to acknowledge that their report had been misleading or that they might have any responsibility to return to the site to do a re-assessment or provide drawings discounting the price we had already paid to them for their assessment. The repairs for the structural issue will be approximately $4000. While we could not have known how much the structural issues would cost prior to purchasing the house, had we known it was a red flag we would have seriously thought twice and also re-negotiated with the seller. I would not recommend hiring them - especially if you are planning to make a purchase of a home based on their work.
