good people to work with, though we could not get the work done due to other issues in the crawl space.

After buying a Big Deal for the crawlspace dehumidifier, the rep came to our house and gave us an estimate for other work he recommended.  We decided to add the crawl space encapsulation.  Planned the work to begin on a Saturday, but he asked if his crew could come to start the work on Friday afternoon to make sure it would be complete by Saturday.  I said OK, but when Friday came around he asked if they could come late morning since they only work until 2pm on Friday.  I couldn't take more work off, so we settled on noon.  They came promptly and began working.  I went downstairs to see how things were going and noticed one of the crew was holding my drain pipe which was broken in two. Went back upstairs to wait for Chris to let me know what had happened.  Didn't hear anything.  About 45 minutes later I went down again and had to ask why the pipe was broken.  It seemed like he wasn't going to tell me about that unless I asked him.  A red flag for sure. They eventually repaired the pipe and finished for the day.  Came back the next day to complete the job.  After they left we went down to look at the work and were surprised to see that the "encapsulation" was not sealed to the crawlspace walls.  It was like they put down plastic and didn't even affix it to the walls completely.  Called Chris back who agree it wasn't done correctly and scheduled the crew to come back to complete the job in the correct way. The dehumidifier was also installed, but the output hose was leaking at the insertion, and the hose was draped on pipes at an incline.  Water doesn't drain UP!.  Called the rep again, and was told that they could come out in 2 days to fix the leak (since it was a weekend).  So I had to go in myself and fix it (a 98 cent ring clamp was all it needed....they should have done that on installation), and I had to rework the hose so that it actually drained down from the unit (i.e., obey the laws of physics).  You would think that a professional company would have known that a hose won't drain upward, you would think that a professional company would check their work for leaks.  You would think that a professional company wouldn't have to come back to clean up a sloppy encapsulation job. This whole episode put a bad taste in my mouth for this company.  I just don't trust them.  I'm considering a French drain for the basement, but I'll use another company when we're ready to do that.

The guys were great, very informative and were happy to explain our problems and the options we had to resolve them. They were upfront with what needed to be done and what was not as urgent. I just needed the problem fixed now, and can wait on some of the options (ie, replacing the windows). They always arrived on time and cleaned up before leaving each day. It has rained several times since they finished the work, and I'm happy to say that we haven't had any problems since. Not only did they fix the problem, our entire basement actually smells better now! Thanks so much for a job very well done!

Chris came out and examined the problems.  He gave us an explanation of what needs to be done.  His company came and did the work as expected.   They were very professional, polite, punctual and worked in an efficient manner.  They cleaned up after themselves and took away all the debris.  The work went extremely well.   We are very pleased with the work and with the results!  The basement and crawl space areas are now clean, dry and intact.

Fast, efficient, clean, and thorough I paid $15,810.00 for everything that includes - I did a complete crawl space encapsulation; 134 linear feet of pipe around the crawl space with three filters, level #7 system with triple filter, (a strip filter, a pipe filter, and a cloth filter - that helps manage and channel water). They did negative air and containment of the work area and hallway, sealed pit with a lid and install a half horse power sump pump with new discharge. And 40/80 of mold spray to all the walls and ceiling. Installed a 20 mil / white liner vapor barrier on the walls, floors, and vents for 1430 sq. ft., and they installed 70 ft. of 4 inch solid exterior pipe to the curb plus 2 dls tie ins and pump tie in. They cleaned / hauled away all job debris. They aim to please customer.

I called AJ on a Friday evening asking questions about crawl space encapsulation.   I inquiry about the process and cost because of a property I am to purchase.  He was nice enough to explain how is done and also provide an rough estimate.  I will hire him for the project if I ended up purchasing the property.

When my husband and I purchased our house, we knew of a few areas in the basement where puddles would form without the dehumidifier running during rain storms. Add to that the fact that we don't really have a slab, just a thin concrete "floor" that was originally a dirt floor, and we wanted to get the water problem taken care of sooner rather than later.  I originally hired this company for a $99 crawl space encapsulation deal. While I don't have a true "crawl space," we eventually agreed that they would install the plastic membrane under my kitchen and also replace the old insulation. My kitchen floor DOES feel warmer and I am happy to prolong the life of that space.  I also had Chris give me an estimate for the basement water issue. Having had other basement guys give me quotes, I knew what to expect from the scope of the project (french drains around the ~86 foot perimeter, a well and sump pump installed). Chris was really nice and great at explaining the work, and I found the price to be very fair, and far less than some other companies. When Chris emailed my quote I was told if I signed the contract within 5 days I could choose a battery-powered or water-powered backup for no charge ($750 value). This obviously spurred me to sign the contract rather quickly.  Unfortunately, after installation, I discovered the team had not installed the back up system. The team lead called Chris, who was able to find the original email offer and admitted to his mistake (that he had not included it in the work order when the team went to buy supplies for my project). We basically ended up splitting the cost of the back up. The team came back for an extra day, and Chris basically paid for the supplies, while I paid labor to install it. I ended up getting the $750 value for around $225. I'm not TOTALLY happy with the solution, but I admit it seemed somewhat fair.  As for the work, I am pretty happy with the project. The team lead (Jamaica) had me look at items and explained it to me (where the walls were brushed of the drylok that was falling off, how the sump pump works, how the back up works). They had to bring supplies and materials in and out of my back door, through my kitchen and dining room, and they covered the floor and cleaned up pretty well after themselves, which is no small feat when removing buckets of concrete and dirt and then adding buckets of gravel and cement. My husband and I moved most of the items in our basement to the middle before work started, and the contractors moved the heavy work bench and the washer and dryer, and also covered all of our belongings with plastic. They were courteous about taking care with the almost 100 year old stone laundry tub that I have an unexplained fondness for, and which they had to dig around/under. Jamaica is also a plumber and was able to fix a few things I needed and had been holding off (but were somewhat related to the water management project in both the basement and crawl space). Overall, I thought it was a good value, and that the contractors were professional and easy to work with. Obviously I hope I don't have to call them again to work on the basement, but I would recommend them to others.

Recent Review: The crawl space is now clean and dry.  The work was completed quickly and professionally.  I am happy with the job that was done.  It was expensive and, of course, I wish it was a bit cheaper but  I am pleased with the work Dry Guys did.  Also, I had a question after installation and their customer service representative was helpful and polite.  I will report back again in a year or so as to how the work holds up.

Recent Review: Chuck arrived at my house and spent a good deal of time inspecting my crawl space. He then provided a clear explanation of the services they offer and the possible options I could go with. I did not feel pressured; I just felt that I was talking to a person who in a professional manner was trying to state the best case he could for his product. That's what salespeople do. One of the things that attracted me to Mid-Atlantic was the array of solutions they had for fixing water problems. I have had bad experiences with other waterproofers who bascially look at your basement for ten seconds then give you the "hard sell" for the only product they offer - a sump pump or a French drain - regardless of what you really need. In fact, up until recently I've had a very dim view of basement waterproofing companies in general - too aggressive and not trustworthy. This is what kept me from fixing my water problem two years ago, but I figured I'd try again. I've had Mid-Atlantic come out twice, once two years ago and once recently, and both times I was pleased with their professionalism. Two years ago they were the only company I had any respect for of the ones I called. I've read some of the other posts by members on Mid-Atlantic and yes, they tell you that "a crew is available from a canceled job and if you sign up now we can give you a cheaper price" and then you get the "a chief inspector wants to come out" call after the first visit. Despite that, I never received the impression that they were untrustworthy or did not provide a good service, just that they have a certain approach to the way they sell. If you work within their approach you can actually negotiate a pretty good price. I felt like I got a pretty good final price for the solutions they offer (several thousand dollars off the original price), which are more comprehensive than other waterproofers. In the end, I did choose another company who I called for the first time this year, but I came really close to choosing Mid-Atlantic. I wouldn't rule Mid-Atlantic out when shopping for a waterproofing solution, despite their current rating on Angie's List. When I read the actual reviews, I found that anyone who actually used their services gave them high ratings, but those who gave poor ratings did not give them work but were mostly put off by their sales technique. From my own research into this type of service, it really does seem that they have a quality product, although in the end I went with a solution I felt was more suitable for my needs.

Recent Review: The person who responded and showed up was very courteous and professional.  He walked me through how there was nothing we needed to be concerned about with regard to the foundation cracks that we have and suggested some ways to make them more visually appealing.  I was pleased that there was no attempt to sell me anything related to the cracks and that the inspector made an honest assessment of how nothing needed to be done. The inspector also provided me with an estimate for sealing our crawlspace with a product called "clean space".  I didn't request this product and it was a bit of a sales pitch - including a canned video demonstrating the product.  However, the estimate was reasonable if it was something I was interested in doing, and I would definitely call this company if we ever decided that we needed the crawl space encapsulated (to reduce mold, moisture and make it a clean storage space).  The inspector also encouraged us to purchase a dehumidifier to help address some of the humidity issues in our basement / crawlspace.  We did that and it has made a marked improvement in the comfort of our (finished) basement and attached storage area.   Overall I was very happy with the service, just wish the inspector had dialed down the sales pitch a little for the crawl space encapsulation system.  But I understand that these discounted inspections (I purchased the inspection as a "big deal" on angie's list) are a way to get in the door and provide an opportunity to introduce potential customers to their range of products.
