Recent Review: Mark arrived promptly in the morning and assessed my old humidifier.  He rightly stated that it hadn't ever worked because it was mounted on the wrong wall of the heater. While he was here, it started to snow.  He was very careful to keep the snow outside each time he came in.  He had an issue with the old water access tube which he had to cap off.  He did that early on so he could keep an eye on it in case it started leaking again. ( it had been leaking and was "fixed" a month ago by someone else).  He came up with  a permanent fix. He worked quietly and efficiently and cleaned up every last screw and piece of old tape.  He was very informative and knew what he was talking about.  Very nice. I would definitely have McCrea work at my house again!

Recent Review: While young and appearing even younger, Steve Machi had quite a bit of experience under his belt working for others despite being newer to running and owning his own business. Besides one employee, he brought in a "30-year ductwork veteran" to consult with on-site to add and rework the duct work with him on our 1948-built house. He ably answered all our questions. He ran all new wiring and piping. Outside, they poured a cement pad to fit our A/C compressor exactly (so the pad wouldn't collect snow and water as with an oversized pad). Put our indoor unit off the floor on a prefab cement pad. Detailed and quality workmanship throughout the entire installation. They cleaned up after themselves. We trusted him to do the work before we moved in and while we were away on vacation some of the time. My parents did check in on the goings-on when they stopped in to do so work on our house during that time. While he agreed to haul away the old furnace, etc. and was unable to take it with him at the time or get it within several weeks, I decided to take it along with some other metal items for cash to Neville Island. When one of our rooms was not cooling as anticipated he came out and quickly ascertained the problem (a ) and fixed it. Provided us filters and an American Standard compressor cover (glad we got it! as it protects from leaves in fall and snow, ice and water in winter) at cost. [Also for an additional fee, trouble-shooted a seemingly good refridgerator and told us we'd be better off replacing it than having him fix it.] We were and are quite pleased with his work. . . over 2 years later (now that I'm a member of Angie's List).

Recent Review: I woke up at 5am on a Saturday to a very cold house in February 2014. The furnace had been installed by the prior owner of the home I bought and had a Bovard sticker on it, so that's who I called - left a message. I was shocked to find out that they actually had a serviceman on duty 24 hrs. He called me back right away and was at my home an hour later. He was very professional and knew everything about the furnace. Within 30 minutes he had the work done and the furnace back up and running. Wow, what a relief. I thought for sure I was stuck without heat until Monday. Most recently, Mr. Bovard came to my home at my request and gave me estimates for adding central air and also a humidifier. These estimates are free and he took the time to fully explain everything to me including all the questions I asked of him. The prices are reasonable and I will have him do the work as soon as I can afford it. I've had a couple of bad experiences with plumbers and generally have a low opinion of most, however, I would have no problem calling Bovard for any plumbing needs in the future.

AMcCrea Heating & Air Conditioning Services of PA
Mario was excellent and did all the work, even staying late on a Friday evening to get the work finished. He thought about location of parts and how easy the access would be, in fact he changed the location of the unit from what was initially planned do to ease of use. Mario even stopped back a week later to see how things were going, and to add some extra plumbing to the unit that he didn't have to do the first time, but felt would better serve us in the long run.

FCHUCK BEERS PLUMBING HEATING
This company was hired by our builder to install all plumbing, heating and AC in my new home. They placed the AC unit outside the living room window. They didn't test faucets after they were installed and when I turned on the outside faucets, water sprayed all over me. The water wouldn't stay in the tub when the stopper was down. The humidifier on the furnace leaked. The furnace stopped working within 2 years after I moved in. The AC stopped working about two years after I moved in. The hot water heater also stopped working within a year or two. I spent $1000 for repairs on new appliances before I lived here four years.

They did a great job giving me a range of choices form the Trane product line. Had the Trane clean effects air cleaner installed along with a Trane Modulating XC95m furnace and a Trane xl20i communicating air conditioner and a new communicating thermostat and to top it all off a new trane powered humidifier which is controllable from the thermostat. They where the first company to get me a bid, and they came in the lowest also. They don't seem to try to over price you like some of the dealers in this area do. They are very easy to work with, very receptive to changes to the bids and definatly get the work done fast. From time of accepting of the bid to install was less then a week. Friendly workers, and Dave definatly tries to make sure you know everything that you can choose from. Definatly a company to pick. They came in at half the price of the next highest bid, and did the same exact work. Quality was great.

The installation began the week after we signed the contract and was a functioning system after the 1st day. One installer returned the second day to finish up and install the humidifier completing installation in 2 days. The 'new' heat pump pad was a cement pad leveled underneath with stones and placed on top of and extending beyond the old heat pump base. I wasn?t sure how this arrangement would hold up in the winter so I held off on writing this review until now and the base has been fine so far. Overall the installation was done very well and the refrigerant lines were replaced with new ones (some estimates we had received from other companies used the old lines).  The only glitch in the project was the door for the new filter box which the installers told me required 2 sheet metal screws to keep it in place. After the installers had left I realized the door had 2 ?hinge tabs? which must slip inside one side of the frame to fit properly, (without additional screws) which is why the quality score was a 'B'. Overall we are very happy with the new system and have seen about a 30% reduction in our electric bills and I'm impressed with how the heat pump is still putting out heat with the temperature in the single digits. The thermostat is full of features and very configurable and includes real time weather forecast and outside temperature and is capable of being controlled and monitored remotely via smart phone or computer. The new system operates much better than the old one with the wood stove that we use in the cold weather. There was an additional $1200 rebate from PPL that further reduced the price (as well as a $675 Bryant rebate and $725 Angies List rebate that are included in the 'Approximate cost of service').

DCHITTESTER'S
A week later, we still did not have any improvement in the heat, and they had not responded to the multiple messages about the problem.  (To be fair they were getting messages from my mother and myself on the same place and this may have thrown them off.)  We also never received the promised quote.  When they got back to us later that week, someone else came out and looked at the furnace, they also stated it was working fine (still needed to be set at 80 to get 60 degrees).  They stated we would need to contact the gas company since the problem was with the gas flow/pressure.  This time they charged an additional fee.  The gas company came and checked the pressure.  It was normal, but on the low end of normal so they changed the meter as a courtesy.  They  then tested the line and it was fine (as evidenced by the fact that the hot water heater continued to work without issue throughout this time), but they stated the furnace was not firing properly and they would have to tag it and shut it down until it could be seen by a "qualified professional."  We decided then to find another company to do the repairing/replacing.
