Recent Review: We have dealt with them for years. they put our air conditioning in and have maintained both our furnace (hot water) and the air conditioning very well. We've had periodic special needs as well, like a water pump for the old furnace and replacing ductwork eaten by a squirrel that got in our attic. they do good work.

Recent Review: Very impressed with entire operation. Michael Restano came three times to discuss various options for installing air conditioning in our old house with hot water radiator heating. The ductless solution was best for us since it was 1) cheaper and 2) less disruptive than installing ductwork inside our home for more traditional whole house air conditioning. The Mitsubishi heat pump units also give us some backup heating should we need it. The installation was done in a day and a half by two very competent professionals with Michael personally directing the work at the beginning and checking the final installation. All the outside piping was hidden with plastic conduit covers so everything looks quite good, inside and out. The Mitsubishi air conditioning/heat pump units are incredibly efficient and extraordinarily quiet, including the outdoor compressor/condensors. Since the units we selected are eligible for this year's full $1500 federal tax credit, our effective cost was only $5900. We definitely would recommend Restano Plumbing Heating and Cooling.

Recent Review: If you have an old house with hot water heat and think you can't also enjoy the luxury of central air - call Metro.  I never thought they'd be able to install ductwork for AC in our older house but they did it!   The guys were amazing, they mapped out the best place to run the ductwork so it wasn't intrusive or even visible in some cases and we now have the most amazing central air system - this is the best thing we ever did to our house.  The installers were very neat and clean and left virtually no evidence they had been there, they took everything out of closets where they needed access and put it all back exactly as they had found it.  For such a big job, this was truly remarkable.  Every time I walk into our nice cool house on a hot day, I want to call Metro and thank them.  It was a lot of money, but we have never regretted it for a second!

Recent Review: JRB Heating and Cooling was my fourth bid to replace my ~25 yr old furnace and AC and I am so glad I called them.  I was very impressed from the start with Jeff's approach to not only update the furnace and AC but to also expand the return ductwork in the basement to increase the air flow.  We have an old house and when they added the dormers on the second floor to add two bedrooms, the ductwork that was installed was inadequate on the return side. Jeff also recommended the "better" furnace and AC units as opposed to the more expensive "best" units since he knew that the higher efficiency of the best units could not be realized with the limited ductwork in my house.  The crew from JRB was great!  They spent the first day removing the old furnace and AC and installing the new furnace so that it was operational when they left at the end of the day since the nights at this time of year were getting a little cold.  Note - the only entrance to my basement was through the front door of the house and through the living room and the guys were great about being very careful moving the old furnace and ductwork out and bringing in the new furnace and ductwork.  The crew was also great with our large dogs that were very interested in the comings and goings.  Jeff stopped by at the end of the first day to check in with the crew and make the final measurements for the replacement ductwork.  The crew came back two days later to complete the job - installing the AC, the new ductwork and the digital thermostat.  We are very pleased with the new furnace and AC units - so quiet and efficient compared to the old units! I would highly recommend JRB Heating and Cooling for anyone looking to replace their old furnace and AC.

Recent Review: We got a bid that was much less than others, which should have been a sign. He took forever to actually come and start. We paid 50% up front, which was our mistake because 20% is the legal amount he could accept. The job was to service the furnace, install AC and install ductwork to the 3rd floor. They took the breaker box apart and left it apart. They drilled multiple unnecessary holes in the back wall. We told him that the gas company was turning the gas on in a few days and he asked if we just wanted him to "break the meter" so we'd have gas. We told him no. He did it anyways and said that we told him it was ok to do so, which is complete BS. They ran the ductwork from existing vents which was horribly done. It was crooked with tons of unnecessary holes in the walls. Weeks passed and the AC unit wasn't installed and the copper line they installed was crimped in multiple places. The furnace wasn't serviced but was running and making noises. One day I went to the property and the doors were hanging open. I looked out of the window and he was looking through the neighbor's trash and moving scrap metal around from their yard. We were happy to kick him off of the job and to count our losses instead of dealing with them any longer.

DARS / Rescue Rooter Durham
The overall process was terrible. ARS started well, calling us at home in another state to give us a verbal estimate, to describe the work needed, and to get our verbal authorization for an AC installation for our renter. We had found them through Home Depot Home Services, where we had previously had good experiences. And good news - they could schedule the installation for the next day so our renter had relief from the NC heat. They came as scheduled and were tidy coming in and out of the house. However, that was the end of the good news. Receiving the paperwork was a hassle because they FedExed it to our home but put a work number on the packaging slip, so FedEx could not connect with us. The paperwork was a wreck: the site inspection checklist and "scope of work" (the agreement of what the contractor will do) was blank, I was asked to initial having received policies that were not sent, and there was no information about returning the paperwork, much less a FedEx slip or business reply envelope. When I called to correct these things, the ARS office was disorganized and unprofessional, with the exception of Ariana Hernandez, a customer care specialist. I emailed Ariana repeatedly and she was generally great. Unfortunately the mistakes and problems kept coming. An city inspection failed because the electrician had not labeled the breaker box during the inspection. A tech arrived to install the grill, but there was no appointment scheduled and ARS was never able to figure out which technician it was. The grill was on back order, but ARS wouldn?t return phone messages from our renter. Everything was finally installed and was supposed to be financed with a Home Depot 12-months same as cash, as noted on the paperwork. However, my recent statement says 6 months. So I have another ARS hassle to fix. Overall, a terrible experience. I would not use them again, ever.

FPUSKAR HEATING & AC
He arrived to give me an estimate on removing an oil fired boiler, the oil tanks, and all radiators. I then wanted a gas furnace and air conditioner installed. This would also entail having a gas line installed to the house along with installing ductwork. He checked everything and said that he would get back to me with an estimate. This was on July 8. I had not heard from them in 2 weeks so I called them back. The receptionist said that she would give him my message. Another week went by, and still nothing, so I called them again. I was told that they were very busy and he would call me whenever the estimate was ready. Well, it has been 35 days and they have still not returned my call. Talk about bad business practices! This was not going to be a cheap job, but they were too busy!

Metro was recommended by a friend who had the same work done several years ago. My house already had A/C but the upstairs was NEVER cool enough in warm weather and ceiling fans only pushed around hot air. I didn't want ugly window or wall units. My initial call to Metro in the fall of 2017 was promptly answered and within the week, Mark Russell visited my home to provide a quote. He was very courteous, professional, friendly and took the time to explain the installation in detail, answered all questions and addressed my concerns. I opted to have the installation done in February 2018 and then have Metro come back in the spring to actually start up the unit. The day of the install, the men were VERY CLEAN!! I requested that they isolate where the ceiling registers were to be installed by hanging plastic from the ceiling to encompass the work area to keep dirt from flying all over the rooms. They did that as well as wore booties while in the house. Regardless, I still expected to come home to a lot of clean up... surprise! My house was amazingly clean! They set the unit in the attic, installed ductwork to ceiling registers in each upstairs room, a cold-air return in the hall ceiling, the thermostat in the hall, the outside unit on a pad next to the existing unit and ran all lines from attic to outside unit (neatly tucked alongside gutter downspout). As it turned out, the thermostat kept malfunctioning and they discovered they had received a bad batch as mine wasn't the only faulty unit. Mark said that when they came back in the spring for the initial start-up, they'd replace it. Fast forward to May 2018 - Metro returned to replace the thermostat, start up the unit and I am thoroughly enjoying comfortable upstairs temperatures - sleep is actually possible and no more sweating as soon as I get out of the shower! Thanks Mark & Metro, worth every penny!!
