Recent Review: Purchased special from Angie's List for furnace inspection. Scheduled immediately for 2nd morning following. Service technician showed up promptly and waited a short while as I was running late (I did call the company to let them know). Performed furnace inspection efficiently and was very thorough in explanation of results. Used two different cameras to display cracked heat exchanger which is what I wanted inspected.

Recent Review: The technician performed the work in a professional and efficient manner. He was courteous, congenial, and maintained a sense of humor throughout the time he was completing the work. Given the complexity of dismantling and reconstructing the inner portion of a high efficiency furnace, all parts and connections were accounted for, and the test run of the replaced part was successfully performed. Kudos to Spencer for a job well done!

Recent Review: My wife and I called Sky Heating for a bid regarding our overall heating/cooling of our home. Greg, Sky Heating's rep, sat down with us and we looked over the options available to us regarding both installations. We were invited to visit the Home Show where Sky Heating had a booth to see the unit that would be installed at our residence. Greg was very professional and knowledgeable. We felt Sky Heating's price was good and we made the decision to use their company. At the same time we made an agreement with Sky Heating to service our rentals and they followed through just as promised. The technician that came to our home was more than we expected. He was kind, considerate and let us know what was taking place. He did a wonderful job regarding the installation of both the new furnace and heat exchanger. We highly recommend their service, work, price and follow thru.

Recent Review: The tenant at my rental house called to let me know that the furnace seemed to have a gas smell and that it was not lit. So, she turned off the gas. I immediately called Howard Air to come out to inspect. They first told me to contact the gas company since the gas company would come out to inspect right away. The gas company came out immediately since this is considered an emergency and determined that there was a problem with the furnace and that the gas should remain off until fixed. Then, I contacted Howard Air again to come out to inspect. Howard Air informed me that the heat exchanger was cracked, which is dangerous, and that the furnace would need to be replaced. The next day, they sent a salesman to inspect and provide an estimate on replacement. After receiving an estimate, I told the salesman (Brian) that I would need to get a second estimate before agreeing to their proposal. However, after hanging up the phone, I decided to call back to see if they would apply the discount coupon from Angie's list to the purchase and installation of the furnace. Brian was able to contact the office to get agreement to apply the coupon, which is normally applied for a complete system rather than just a furnace. Since, they agreed to apply the coupon, I went with Howard Air. Howard Air arrived to install the furnace the next day. The installation was done in a timely manner, and the tenant was very pleased with the work they did. I was able to see the installation later. It looked well-done. But, there were two joints on the duct work exiting the furnace that did not have the aluminum tape applied as was done for the other duct joints. I asked the salesman why that was not also taped. He said it was not needed. After I requested, he had the installation technician call to explain why, which the technician did. It still seems to me that it should have been done since it is simple enough to do. I may still tape it myself. Brian said that a final invoice would be emailed to me as was done for the proposal. I called a couple of days later to request the invoice from Brian and also sent him a text message on the phone and an email. But, still did not receive a response or the invoice. This is typical of what I have seen with service companies. The response seems generally slower after the sale, which I do not like. I called the office more than a week later, and they emailed the final invoice that day, I marked this review that I would use Howard Air again since there is not a choice to say I'm not sure. Overall, I think I would use them again. But, due to the response of getting my invoice after service, I would definitely also consider other companies in the future.

Recent Review: My house is different. Our furnace was built in the attic crawlspace below the vaulted ceiling roof accessible only from a ladder and through a small trap door. Everything about the installation was non-standard and difficult because of the house design. Fortunately the owner of the company checked everything and was able to run the refrigerant lines up and over the scissor truss ceiling and down the outside of our two story house to the side. The competition to this company said it could not be done this way, but they were wrong! Able was slightly more expensive, by less than $200, but well worth the difference in cost. The Able crew was professional and answered all the questions, the inspection went okay afterwards with only a minor fix (that I didn't pay for). I would and have recommended them to friends.

Recent Review: I had been told that repairing my furnace would not be cost effective and that I might as well get a new one. I was getting estimates for a new furnace and called Bull Mountain. Brian, the sales guy came out and was dubious that our furnace's heat exchanger was actually cracked because our CO alarm wasn't reading anything. He suggested that their repair guy come out and look at the furnace before we did anything. That sounded good and ....hmmm...maybe Mike was his name? ( I should remember my new best friend's name)....came out and determined that yes, it was cracked. But wait a minute - he says - let me check on the warranty. To my surprise, the thing is under warranty! And Bull Mtn will swap out the part for $235. in labor!  Sounds too good to be true doesn't it? That's what I kept thinking. But no - they came when they said, did the work at the price they stated and now I have a new heat exchanger with a new warranty.

Recent Review: We have a Carrier furnace with a bad secondary heat exchanger.  This was diagnosed by Sunset, who then informed me the part was covered under warranty, however labor to install the part was not covered and would be $900-$975. That response prompted me to call Carrier directly, who then told me that they cover parts AND labor under the secondary heat exchanger warranty. I ended up scheduling with another Carrier service provider, however Sunset did give me a call back to let me know that they had checked with Carrier and that they could do the work with the included labor. In this case, I don't feel it is really Sunset's fault, there seems to be a special warranty exception in this case that not many people are familiar with.  I would use Sunset again. Moral of the story, make sure to get multiple quotes and check with the manufacturer on all warranty claims to ensure the HVAC company you are using is authorized to make the warranty repair.

Recent Review: We have this done every year, in the 15 years we have lived here this is the most thorough job any company has done. Jake actually took things apart and cleaned them. Excellent job and have already recommended them. Could not believe how reasonable the cost too.

Recent Review: This all proceeded well.  I was impressed that they surmised that the furnace heat exchanger would still be on warranty, which had not even occurred to me.  They were correct, and this saved us a bundle.  They handled that part of the transaction for me. The service people were hard working and seemed quite knowledgeable and comfortable with the whole thing. It's impossible to know if the original package deal was a good one, since it immediately led to repeated visits and an expensive job, which blurs the itemization of the whole bill.  But my instinctive judgment was that the price overall was fair for the services provided.

First let me say that Comfort Solutions was the only company that I called that could come out within a day of my phone call. The 3 other companies I called were all booked out for 3 or more days. Even the company that installed our system couldn't fit us into their busy schedule. Comfort Solutions sent Marshall over to see why our 7 year old Carrier system was not heating anymore. He looked over our whole system including our A/C just to see how everything was set up to work together. He made note of serial numbers and asked several questions. Marshall found the problem, a tripped reset switch, and had the furnace up and running in about 20 minutes. However, he was concerned about why the reset switch had tripped and so he stayed longer to see what would have caused that. It turns out that we had a plugged secondary heat exchanger which caused our furnace to overheat and thus trip the reset switch. When I asked how much a new secondary heat exchanger would cost, Marshall explained that his office would take care of calling Carrier and asking if that part was still covered under warranty and that we would be hearing from Susan by the next day. Susan called the next day and said that Carrier would cover the cost of replacing the secondary heat exchanger and the cost of installation since it was a part that they were having problems with. Great news and I didn't even have to hassle calling Carrier myself! The only downside was that they had to order the part from Carrier and it would be about a week before it came in. Luckily the weather was not too cold and a couple of space heaters kept the living areas tolerable. When the part came in Susan called again to arrange a time for installation. My husband and I were leaving for vacation for a week so we had to arrange an install time when my son could come home from school to let the technician in. It was finally decided that Monday, Oct. 13th after 2:30 would work. My husband and I took off for New England and left my son home to take care of the house. About 4 pm on the 13th, I called home and asked my son if the repair person had come yet and he said no. So I told him to call Susan and ask her to find out what the delay was. When my son called back 10 minutes later, he said that Susan called him right after we had talked and she said that the tech had run into a problem at the job before ours and he was running really late and they needed to reschedule because replacing the heat exchanger is a 3 hour job. I called Susan from Vermont and explained that my son's schedule was really tight that week and he had made special arrangements to be home on Monday to meet the tech and that our house is also undergoing a remodel and the contractor had scheduled painting, tile and trim work to be done the rest of the week so this Monday was really the best day to get the furnace work done, otherwise there would be too many people in the house getting into each others way. Susan was very understanding and called back to say that the tech would work late and be at our home about 5:30. I thanked her and sure enough, Jason showed up and worked late to replace our secondary heat exchanger. We are back from vacation now and our furnace is working great! I appreciate the excellent customer service that Comfort Solutions extended to us and we will absolutely call them again should we have a problem with our furnace or A/C.

During their first visit, they found the gas flame is pushed back by air when the fan is on, that indicates a possible cracked heat exchanger. They shut the furnace down and work closely with us to find out our heat exchanger is still under life warranty, that means since we have a 12 years high efficiency furnace, it is better off we just replace heat exchanger and pay the labor cost to get it done. When we are ready to order the new heat exchanger, they come to our house second time to make sure they can find this crack physically before moving forward, and finally they determine it was not a non-fixable crack on heat exchanger, but a gap on the airway due to lost screw. The guy fixed the problem at even no further charge, saving us hundreds of bucks and a month time of no heating. We highly appreciate their careful attitude towards heat exchanger replacement, and their high working ethic, will definitely use them in the future for our heating/AC job, and recommend them to our friends who ever need a same service. Thank you, Brian.

The problem with the heating exchange assembly was found during a tune-up of the furnace.  The part needing replacing was still under warranty, so there was no cost for the part.  The cost for labor was the amount paid.  Because the furnace is located under the house, it presented more of a problem in that it had to be taken out from under the house to be replaced.  The job took about 4 hours.  I was very happy with the service and with the gentlemen who did the work.
