Reviews in Fairview for Installing Retaining Walls
This was largely an assessment of the structural issues of the property. We conversed easily and there was a clear understanding of the recommended actions to correct the deficiencies, whether through Seismic Technologies, another recommended contractor, or ourselves. I am currently awaiting for an estimate for the earthquake retrofitting work and I need to contact the other contractors for other identified issues.

engineer said he was about a month out. I said ok, I could wait. Contacted in a month to follow up - then he said he wasn't interested in the work

Jay Kushner came out to our home, took a few measurements and promised to provide an electronic report of beams and column sizes to be used because of load bearing wall removal. He DID NOT provide these promised documents, DOES NOT return phone calls. It has nearly been one month since "service date" and has cashed our check and disappeared. This guy is a scammer and should NOT be trusted!

They came out and they were very professional. They went underneath the house and looked at some things and made some suggestions. He gave me an overall report at the end. I would recommend them.

I was very pleased. They are extremely professional, patient, and punctual. Came up with great suggestions for solving problems and useful advice. I had total trust in their engineering expertise. The project would have been much less expensive, but I made a lot of changes, due to my inexperience and the fact that our architect was horrible and gave poor guidance and advice. They are not inexpensive, but worth every penny. Paul Albertine and Glenn Wilson were friendly and wonderful to work with.

Jay inspected all rooms in the house, measuring grades of the floors, door trims, beam supports in basement, concrete integrity of foundation, etc. He gave us a lot of pointers in things he was finding, and then wrote up a full report including diagrams and statistics. He offers both a verbal and a written report - we chose the written report which was more expensive but totally worth it in my opinion (to allow us to make fixes as well as show proof to future buyers of what's already been inspected).

He knows about structural engineering. He is such a careful craftsman that he will match the period woodworking and will tailor make the moldings to match. He knows about about both the ruff work and the finishing work.

AS A STRUCTURAL ENGINEER, LASKO KNEW WHAT HE WAS DOING. HE SEEMED VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE. AS FOR THE SKILL OF THE LABORERS, IT WAS QUESTIONABLE, AND I BELIEVE OVER PRICED. WE FOUND OUT AFTERWARD.

I was satisfied. They came on time. They were attentive to my concerns. They spend a lot of time going through the house looking thoroughly at the house.

Les, was very precise about the structural requirements for our new house in order to meet safety requirements and building code for our seismic zone (D). He was very thorough, punctual and answered all our questions in an easy to understand manner. When the county building permit office had some additional requirements, he met those without any problems (though he charged for the extra work). He did charge hourly and billed for every single hour (no freebies) and also charged separately for the CAD files for our project. Other than being a stickler for charging for his time, he was extremely knowledgeable about building practices, easy to reach by phone, and provided very well made CAD drawings for our project.
Recent Review: They were awesome. The owner and principal engineer came out and met with me and took measurements and made drawings. He was super easy to work with, very responsive, I thought very moderately priced. I give them a big thumbs up in every category.

Recent Review: John was outstanding to work with, even though I decided, based on his advise that it was not cost-effective to build my decks as I had planned. John has gotten a bum rap from another Angie's list member, just based on a brief phone conversation. That review is clearly unjustified. I picked John because he is well respected by the City and his other ratings on Angies list were very high. Unlike the other structural engineers that I considered, John came to my house before I even made the decision regarding which structural engineer to work with. He was friendly and very responsive and even suggested the name of a geotech to look at the possible project. Similar to the other Angies list members that have actually worked with John, he clearly knows what he is doing and was very patient with me as I slowly came to the conclusion that my dream project was simply not feasible.
