We had checked with friends and neighbors for recommended painters. We thought it a good idea to join Angie's List, too. After receiving a couple of estimates here and there, we found Affordable Painting & Drywall on Angie's List. We left a voice mail message, and it wasn't long at all before Bryan called us back and agreed to come give us an estimate at our convenience. On 7/27/2011, he arrived promptly and performed the estimate according to our requirements. We had some questionable looking trim around the chimney box, and a couple of pieces of lap siding needed replacement. We were impressed by Bryan's demeanor, knowledge, attitude and professionalism. He asked all the right questions for information he'd need to know to perform the work, and he had all the right answers to our questions, without hesitation. He also told us what to expect in the way of scheduling should we decide to hire him. Long story short, we awarded Affordable the job a few days later. We took it as a good sign it would be some time before he could start our home, due to the fact he was busy and business was good. We were comfortable with our decision. Because of his work load and our vacation plans, we mutually agreed to have the work performed in September. Bryan kept us informed every step of the way. He and/or his buddy, also a Brian, came three or four times, and did the work in stages. Each time Bryan would call ahead and confirm what was happening, and then follow up by either showing up as prescribed, or touching base with us if plans changed, even if it was due to rain. We can't say enough about their work ethic, attitude, cordiality, communication skills, etc, not to mention knowing what they were doing on the job. One day they power washed the house. Another day they removed the compromised cedar trim and lap siding, then installed new material. While we were traveling, they came back and caulked the new wood, especially up and down the chimney box, and applied primer to the bare surfaces. Then, after finally enjoying some rain showers for a few days, and letting everything dry out sufficiently for the paint to readily adhere, Bryan and Brian held true to their promised show-up time on 9/20/2011, and went to work. They taped around windows and doors and light fixtures and footings, covered shrubs and our spa. Hey, we had drained the spa before they arrived, and they even helped us move it out of the way! They caulked a few final spaces, applied primer, and then sprayed and brushed the color we'd chosen. As they neared completion, they asked us to inspect their work and advise them of any questions or comments we had; anything they might have overlooked, etc. Let us tell you, we were 99.9% satisfied upon our initial inspection. After pointing to a few minor things that caught our eye, they attended to them, and we were soon 100% pleased with the work. The house looks fresh and bright, and we definitely think their job will stand the test of time. It was done properly, skillfully, and completely, We usually believe in the old adage, "If you want something done right, do it yourself." But this project has been an exception to that rule! There's no way we could have done as good a job as Bryan and Brian. A+ from estimate to completion!
