My experience with Best Quality Roofing and the owner Chester Ullrich is quite lengthy so for those who may not have time to read the whole thing I will sum it up in the first paragraph. The company had been paid over 75% of the insurance money but did not pay their metal roofing supplier. The metal roofing supplier placed a lien on our house for around $9000.00 because Best Quality did not pay the bill. In the end we had to pay the supplier and all remaining subcontractors directly to be sure that other subcontractors did not place a lien on our house. They said the entire job would be done in 6 weeks, in the end it took over 1 year for them to "complete" the work. In reality the work was never completed we basically paid them more money than we should have just to be done with them, pay the subcontractors and get them out of our house and our lives. For those who want the whole story, keep reading. We hired them to do the roofing and interior work on our house in McAlester, OK that had been hail damaged in May of 2011. They promised us top quality work that would include a new stamped metal roof that was in accordance with the nature of our historic house. The storm had damaged the roof which had leaked through all 3 floors and had caused major interior damage as well as on the roof. They said they would fabricate the historic finials, do all the interior repairs to sheet rock and floors, do custom mill work on the historic woodwork on the house. This was to take 6 weeks. The roofing work went ok but they didn't even start on the roof until approx. Feb 2012. They finished the roof fairly quickly but then they started the interior work which was very lengthy and a very nightmarish experience. I can't even count the times they would say they were done, we would drive in from Texas where we are currently living and the work would not be done or if it was it was done in very poor manner. We finally started referring to them among ourselves as the "liars". More than once either us or the lady that watched the house for us would come in and they had left one of the doors unlocked or even wide open. One time we found empty beer cartons in the refrigerator (we do not drink) which may explain some of the shoddy work. At least one subcontractor hit me up for money and I told him that I had just paid Best Quality a very large insurance check and that he should ask him to pay him. They promised us the moon and stars when it came to the quality of the work but they tried to just give us 3 finials for our roof when there had been 4. They finials were not fabricated exactly like the originals as promised. We hired them to remove stains off of the historic stone and they chiseled some of the stains off and left the rest permently ruining the stone. They promised us custom mill work but used Lowes over the counter trim which we insisted they replace. The floors look like a patchwork quilt because of the difference of woods used. Also they left the wood floor unfinished around the stairwell area. I told them I wanted semi-gloss paint for all the interior paint even the ceilings but I am quite sure they used the cheapest matte paint they could find. Sheet rock was left unfinished or finished in a shoddy manner. They lost a chandelier and claimed it wasn't there. This was a working B & B when we bought the house- it had all the light fixtures. They replaced a wood floor on the 2nd story but were to lazy/cheap to tear the floor out so the floor in that bedroom is approx 1-2" taller than all of the other wood floors. They left the place an entire mess, it is so dusty we have not been able to stay in it since because it will require at least a weeks worth of cleaning. They left the door open to the one bedroom that was not worked on and it is a dusty mess also. I am probably forgetting some of the stuff they did there was so much it is hard to remember it all. Hopefully what I have remembered will be sufficient for you to know this is not a good company to work with. In the end we were holding back $15,000 just to be sure the subcontractors got paid and the owner was very hateful to us because he wanted us to sign the money over to him. We held our ground and paid all outstanding subcontractors directly and paid him a negotiated balance but in the end we were not satisfied with the work and we knew he would never do the work right. We paid him more than we should just to get rid of him. I never want to have any dealings with this man again I am merely making this report to save others from having to deal with him.

Gregg removed my storm damaged aluminum porch roof that had blown over on top of my home and dismantled the old supports. He asked me what kind of porch I wanted and was able to fulfill my wishes by replacing it with a traditional wood decking and shingled roof in addition he used cedar posts to add character to the front of my classic style house. He was prompt and courteous, removed all of his construction debris and cleaned my porch and put everything back where it went. I will soon have him install new hand rails to match the posts. Prior to the new porch Gregg has done my handyman services when I need something done and also trimmed out my bathroom and painted some of my original paneled doors to brighten them up. Thanks Gregg

Went well, was very pleased with work, he developed an illness while working (sinus infection or bronchitis something of that sort) plus his help quit arriving, so it was just him, he pushed through and completed the project, my only complaint would be he did get in a bit of a rush and a few things were missed that I corrected after he was done but again he was ill, his help quit showing and it was HOT!!! He framed an 8 feet deep 44 feet wide and 64 feet long wrap around porch in a week! Fred was a great guy and would hire again

I saw their name on a work truck in the area, so I looked at their website and decided to call for a free estimate. They called very soon after I filled out the the online form, requesting a free estimate. I scheduled an appointment to have someone come give me a quote on a screened porch and possibly a patio slab. The day of the appointment they showed up five minutes early and it only took about 30 minutes for them to get me a price. They told me the price is good for a year and that I do not have to pay anything until they finish the work. I will use them when I am ready to have the work done.

.I saw a TV commercial for Cedar Ridge vinyl siding that is so strong that can't be damaged even by a truck running over it. I checked out the company with BBB and Angie's List and then called them for an appointment. The salesman arrived on time and was professional. He brought one sample of the siding-it was thick vinyl with a very thick dense hard foam core (the foam core was yellow in color) that he said was permanently fused at the factory. The estimate was $30,762 for my small 1200 square foot home(If I signed the contract right then). I told him I couldn't afford that much and apologized for wasting his time. About 10 days later, the company called me and wanted to know why I didn't sign a contract and I told them because I couldn't afford it. They wanted to send out another salesman who was the owner's son and was authorized to give me a discount because I was an elderly widow. I told them not to waste their time unless he could give me a large discount. They assured me that he could. He arrived on time and remeasured the house. He lowered the price by $6,000 and included 7 replacement windows for my sun porch--just regular size windows. I was going to write everything but this is too complicated. So summary: The salesman attempted a bait and switch. I found out they don't have a product like the sample that I was shown. I have kept a sample of what they attempted to install on my house. They just show up whenever they want to do the installation, without first calling. If I had not been home to examine the product, I may not have been able to determine the inferior quality of the product just by viewing the installed vinyl. I have kept extensive written notes. The salesman sent a second product which was only slightly thicker styrofoam than the first. I told him the product that I had agreed to purchase was in one piece and fused at the factory. He (the owner's son) stated that the first salesman was incorrect and that they had no product like that. He stated that the sample was just glued together to make for easy presentation. It was quite obvious from talking to this young man that he equated "elderly widow" with "stupid". After mentioning Angie's List, he finally decided to order the quality of siding that I had paid for. The installers showed up again on June 10-not with anything that looked like the sample I had been shown but I felt the quality was fairly close to what I had been shown and it was in one piece so I allowed them to install it. The only good thing I have to say about this company is that the installers that came out with the final product were excellent. They were Lonnie, Cecil and Jack. They were courteous, professional and answered all of my questions. They did a superb job of installing the product. I really wouldn't call this company again because of the dishonesty of the owner's son-- in position of salesman. Also, the work was completed and paid for on June 14 and just today, July 25, after calling the company last week and again this week I finally received the warranty brochure. I wish I had called Sears for a price quote before going with this company. I wonder if other people have been duped with the inferior product because it was installed while they were not at home. It turns out that there are several different types of the Cedar Ridge siding. I would warn anyone who uses this company to get a sample of what is to be installed and to make sure they inspect the product that is delivered. Also be sure to read the back of the contract before you sign on the front. That was not shown to me. I just saw it the next day and it is quite intimidating, If you allow a wall of siding to be installed, you are stuck with it.
Recent Review: After seeing their product at the Minneapolis Home & Garden show we were convinced that this was the right product for our porch improvement work. The guys from EZ-Screen brought samples to our home to help us select frame color and installation method. They took careful measurements of all of the window and door openings and put our order in motion. A few weeks later our windows and door were delivered. We did this work at the same time we had some exterior siding work done by another contractor. We arranged to have that contractor do the actual installation of the EZ-Screen product. The rep from EZ-Screen came out to our site when the installation started to ensure that our contractor understood how to properly install the windows and door. Everything went smoothly and contractor commented on how easy the windows went in. After three full seasons of use we still enjoy the product and we're pleased that we chose this as part of our porch renovation. It has added several additional months to our porch usage in our short Minnesota summer seasons. I highly recommend this product for any new screen porch or porch renovation job!
