Recent Review: We live in an area suffering intermittent drought and extreme temperatures with consequent soil movement and settling. Like every other house in our area, our 40+ year old home had indications of possible structural issues - wall cracks, a few mortar patches to the exterior rock wall, the occasional and quot;poppedand quot; drywall nail. Because we bought it as a foreclosure, we did not have an opportunity for a full pre-purchase inspection. When we finished fixing the obvious issues, we wanted to budget for structural repairs. Some of our neighbors had told us horror stories of foundation repairs costing $15,000 to $25,000. Following advice from a posting on Angie's list, I opted for a structural engineering review before contacting foundation repair companies. Stresscon in Tulsa received excellent marks. After a quote of $250. I scheduled an appointment, fearing the worst. Rodney Bratcher, Professional Engineer with Stresscon, arrived at the appointed time, conducted a thorough inspection, took extensive photographs and walked me through the entire process. As we moved from room to room and around the exterior, he explained what he was looking for and his observations. He patiently answered my many questions, concluded the inspection by recapping his findings and offering suggestions for what were - much to my relief - minor, low budget and quot;cosmeticand quot; repairs that we could perform on our own. My husband and I were still exhaling with relief when we received the formal written report by e-mail just two hours later, complete with pictures, a listing of observations, and a detailed summary of minor repairs. We've made those repairs and sleep much easier knowing that our home is structurally sound. I would recommend Rodney and Stresscon to anyone facing similar concerns.
