Recent Review: As previously mentioned, Ric helped us from the very beginning. We had difficulty with the architect and Ric worked to make sure that even without him (the architect), our building was completed in a timely fashion and to our specifications and desires. This felt like a major accomplishment in itself! We trusted Ric and he met with us frequently and spoke honestly. Our building was ready on the date promised (how often does that happen?). The building came in at budget, with no unexpected charges or fees, another major accomplishment. I have been involved with MANY building projects and this one was the easiest and most pleasant, by far. Ric delivers what he promises! RLG continues to provide assistance and services our building when any problems arise (even when those problems have nothing to do with the construction of the building). We call them first because we know they will help get us to the right people and provide assistance if there is anything at all they can do to help. Ric and Lori are great to work with and wonderful people. Highest recommendation!

Reviews in Washington Court House to Build Carports
AEd Compton Construction Inc
We bought a house in Granville Village with a carport. The carport was in poor condition structurally and we wanted it converted into an attached, two-car garage if possible (something rather rare for that part of the village). The project was tricky. The village said that we were not allowed to remove the carport and build a new structure (the garage) because it was so close to the neighbor's yard. We could, however, convert the carport to a garage as long as we did not take down the existing structure. Unfortunately, the building department said the foundation for the carport was bad and it needed to be replaced. This left us with a problem. We hired Ed Compton and his sons through Craigslist and we were very glad we did. Ed's solution was to prop up the roof above the carport with temporary walls, keeping the roof of the carport intact. Then, he removed the carport walls and existing foundation. Next, he poured a new foundation and installed new, permanent walls to support the roof. Subcontractors (who were very good) poured the garage floor and installed electrical. After the garage door, back door, and windows were installed, the project was done. The project took about 4 weeks and the finished project was beautiful. The new garage blended perfectly with our house. Ed was more expensive than several other folks, but we think it was worth the extra price. He is a perfectionist and insists on doing everything carefully and correct. He also takes pride in his work. His makes sure the finished product is something that he would be proud of it it were on his own home. We were also very happy interacting with Ed's sons, who worked with him most days. They were very conscientious about their work and friendly. It was a real pleasure hiring a family-owned and operated business for this job. We were very pleased with Ed. He is currently working on another, smaller project inside our house.

AThe Garage Gurus
The entire process, from making the appointment for an estimate to the completion of the project was a positive experience. Shawn is a true professional, patiently asking questions and listening to my ideas, before developing a truly top notch plan. Cameron, the construction lead, and Bob were a delight to work with?they did not mind if I ?helped? by handing them materials or tools when needed. The entire process took about 8 days, from digging holes for the posts through the installation of the rubber roofing to the final inspection. The resultant carport cover looks like it belongs with all of the lines smoothly flowing from the existing garage. Thanks Garage Gurus for a great experience.

I will be using him very soon for a basement finishing job and backyard expansion (installing a wall and fencing and leveling out a hill.) Plus they will be doing a new roof for us as well. By far the most precise professional contractor you will find. This group gets it done right the first time. Don't waste your time with other guys, use Jacob and you will not be sorry.

Ed and his crew were very knowledgeable, professional and very, very good at what they do. He had excellent sub-contractors that worked the same way. They showed up for work in all kind of conditions from high 90's heat and even worked in pouring rain. He suggested several ideas that made the building of my garage better and used venders and materials that we wanted or bought ourselves. I can't say enough about the great job he did and I have recommended him to everyone I know that needs a good contractor. I am a very happy customer and will definitely use his company again.

AC V PERRY
Tim Jacobs, Sales Consultant, was very professional & straight-forward. He spent over 2 hours with me discussing what I am looking for in a home & if C.V. Perry could accommodate me. We discussed financing, lots, design, decoration, & floor plans. We will not be having this builder build our home presently because its lots are not in our desired locations. I appreciated the time Tim spent with me just talking.

Started out great - we had multiple meetings and put in a lot of time and energy into designing our dream home. Unfortunately, their was a price increase twice during the planning upwards of $25,000! The more custom we made the home, the more it cost. They definitely make their money on the upgrades. The build on your lot concept - is great in theory. Reality was you had to tack at least $100k to the price they offered for the house - because it did not include the land cost or the site improvement costs. Appliances, deck, landscaping, driveway - forget about it - none of that is included in the price. We started to receive more NO's on ideas we had for the new custom house and the budget just kept growing. Ultimately, we felt like we were getting an OK quality house on a high end budget. We decided to go elsewhere and use another builder. This experience was eye opening but ultimately a waste of time. In the end it felt like we would be paying for all of their commercials and model homes instead of paying towards our dream home. If you want something all inclusive of the price - you are better with a community builder. We are going with a local custom builder that can provide us with a better quality house - with ALL of the upgrades we wanted for the same price that Schumacher was giving us for less of a house. Buyer beware!

GOOD OVERALL HOME BUILDER. RESPONSIVE DURING THE BUILDING PHASE. SLOW AND SOMEWHAT UNRESPONSIVE DURING THE WARRANTY PERIOD. THEY, LIKE MOST BUILDERS, ARE AT THE MERCY OF THEIR SUBCONTRACTORS. FRAMING AND CARPENTRY AVERAGE TO GOOD. ELECTRICAL AND HVAC GOOD. PAINTING CONTRACTOR WAS TERRIBLE, DRYWALL WORK ONLY AVERAGE. WOULD RECOMMEND THIS BUILDER, BUT WATCH OUT FOR THE SUBCONTRACTORS THEY USE. KEEP AFTER THEM IF PROBLEMS APPEAR. WATCHING HOMES IN MY AREA GET BUILT BY DIYANNI OVER THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS, I'VE NOTED CHANGES IN THE BUILDING MATERIALS USED (COMPARED TO MINE) THAT APPEAR COST-DRIVEN. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR, SO BE WATCHFUL AND UNDERSTAND THEIR CURRENT SPECIFICATIONS.

The condo was to built and per contract to be completed by spring of 07, before the sale of current home. With the set backs and all of the inconveniences, we have the worse time getting in contact with them. This has caused several costly issues, storage, pet kennel services. When we call, it is was several days before, they returned a call. This has been a miserable process and the business tactics. They used several excuses. They even tried the excuse, they lost our numbers, we have given several contact numbers. They have never updated us on any of the progress and any information we receive, we need to make attempts. This is ridiculous for paying this money for a home, to get this kind of service. They have even increased the price of the home, $5000 during the process. I would not recommend, to anyone.

We started talks with Truberry in January of 2009 roughing out our wish list to build a 7200 sq ft. home. Our first 2 meetings were very casual were we sat around and talked about the things we wanted and they simply listened. They brought drawings to our next meeting and they did a fantastic job capturing exactly what we described. We were building in the middle of the housing crunch and Scott was able to point us in the direction of the one bank that was still offering construction to permanent loans. Brandon was our project manager, he was very patient, very nice and answered any question we asked, and I know we asked some of them 5-6 times. The entire office staff, Ed, Shelly and Sue in the design center were all fantastic, very customer oriented. If they didn't have it they would help us find it and any of the stores they sent us to were also fantastic to work with. For example, we wanted for a European style bath tub, not something you can readily find in Central Ohio. We found one on-line, sent it to Ed and he took care of the rest. They kept us really well informed through the entire process and Brandon ran a really tight ship. Our roof was scheduled to go on in the middle of December. As soon as there was a break in the snow/ice he had two roofing crews on site and it was done in 2 days. As long as the weather cooperated there was never a moment when something wasn't going on. We moved in September of 2010 and the team has been equally responsive with any follow-up issues we've had. I hope to never move but if we build again I wouldn't call any other builder.
