Recent Review: I was very appreciative of the prompt service from Roto-Rooter. I had had difficulty with several other plumbing companies, both with having them come to assess our situation, as well as improperly diagnosing the cause. Roto-Rooter was able to send someone to my home the next day (they offered same day but that didn't work with my schedule). Within 5 minutes of seeing the problem, the initial technician knew what was wrong. Another representative came to our home within 2 hours and scheduled to have the work done the next day. We were in the process of moving, and the excavating crew was kind enough to try to fill in the hole in our yard as neatly as possible.

Recent Review: The owner, Matt Anderson, was great to work with. He came and priced it out and gave me an estimate. He was able to work quickly to get us on the calendar. It was a week-long project. The crew was very good to work with and they explained what they were doing. They gave us examples of things to look out for if we had any further concerns and responded to any of our questions. They explained the rationale and process they were using. They included us in making the decisions and wanted to make sure that we were comfortable with moving forward with the rest of the project after the excavation. There were some damages because of the machinery they used and they purchased replacement pieces, which was appreciated.
It went wonderful. Great crew of respectful workers. The owner was great with explaining everything. I would recommend the company for everyone.

FIron Horse Excavating
Brian K Watkins, Iron Horse Excavating took $17,000 in March 2018 and another $6,000 in April 2018 to construct a pond, improve driveway and clear trees. To date (over one year) he only showed up one afternoon with a chain saw and cut a few trees that are still laying randomly. He has used every excuse imaginable for over one year; wife sick, injured my face, suing equipment company, I'm sick, working on my marriage, problems with equipment company, I'm sick again, kids home from school, truck broke down, and on and on. We have seen from other reviews/complaints on Angie's list and BBB that he was giving start dates and taking money from other people the same time he was telling us he would show up. He has ignored a letter from our attorney requesting to not only return our money but a gate key and garage fob as well. He also failed to respond to a complaint filed in the Hocking County Common Pleas Court. He refused to take a check payable to Iron Horse Excavating but insisted the check be made out to him personally, Brian Watkins. He changed his phone number since the original contract and is also using the name Tough Nickel Excavating. Professional con artist.

AReidl Construction LLC
Justin and crew exceeded my expectations. They were hired for excavation, foundation waterproofing and drainage, and demo and replacement of sidewalks with stamped concrete. They showed up on time and worked quickly to complete the job a day ahead of schedule. They beat everyone with their quote and they delivered a quality finished product I am proud to show off to my friends. I would hire them again and highly recommend them for concrete and excavation work.

The job went very well. Tim (owner of Dayton Excavating) came and gave a free estimate for the work. He worked excellent with our other contractors, and he did an excellent job. He completed the work far ahead of what we expected, while still doing a high quality job and all at a great price! I am extremely happy with the overall service provided and would highly reccomend them to anybody needing excavation work.

We were very pleased with the experience from start to finish! The crew that arrived was punctual and curtious. They explained what needed to be done and my final bill was actually lower than the estimate! They arrived with their excavator and within two days had removed the tree, repaired the wall segment, waterproofed the repairs, installed drainage tile, properly regraded the yard area and prepared the area for seeding. We were pleasantly suprised by the workmanship, price and professionalism of the company. We have sinced recommended Fire Side Homes and Excavating to our friends. It was evident from observing the project that Mr. Emerson is well skilled and experienced in these type of repairs. It has been nearly two years since the repair and our basement remains remarkably dry and pleasant. We would highly recommend Fire Side Homes and Excavating for price, workmanship, speed of service and professionalism! I urge you compare estimates with other similar companies...I'm sure you will be as pleased with Fire Side Homes and Excavating as we were.

I had a conversation with the owner and he said he would get back with me and that never happened. Maybe this was a blessing in disguise. I got ahold of a different excavation company and everything worked out great.

AN&W Excavating LLC
N&W was very easy to work with at every step of the process. They came to the property, measured, and quoted in a prompt and professional manner. They were very conscientious of the property. They took care to not damage any part of the landscape that they were not working on. If something had to be done that might cause damage to an area such as the back lawn, I was contacted first. Even after I gave permission to drive equipment through the back lawn, they took great care to minimize their impact. I was impressed with how respectful they were to myself and my family. They are definitely quality people. As far as the quality of their work, well it matches the quality of their character. We had several days of rain that held up progress. Despite the weather setbacks, work was prompt and happened when they said it would. The excavating work was perfect. They graded the backyard and removed unwanted trees and shrubs. The new area will be easy to seed, mow, and care for. Even easier than it was before. The concrete work is of high quality as well. The flat work was impressive. We have had several inches of rain since the patio and driveways were poured. We have perfect water flow off of both. There are no puddles whatsoever. I have already recommended N&W to others and I will continue to do so. They are a quality company with quality people that do quality work.

ABobcat Excavating & Construction Inc
They started by fixing our hillside slips and then addressing our drainage issues. They put French drains around the house and new drainage in the driveway to help keep the water off the hillside. We also had 6-8 trees removed while they were there. They always showed up on time and kept us informed on what was going on. They kept us within our budget and time frame. The owner/ operator was very patient and knowledgeable about what we needed done. We are very pleased with the work we received from Bobcat Excavation and would highly recommend them to family and friends.

BJ C TRIVETT EXCAVATING
I've historically had a very difficult time finding excavators in the area. Usually, they seem too busy to help a homeowner with relatively small jobs. For this job, I actually had one tell me I should just go rent a trencher and do the job myself. So Trivett already scored points by answering the phone and agreeing to perform the work on relatively short notice. Whereas others were scared off when I told them the trench would be dug through a sloped, wooded area, Trivett was unfazed. His equipment is capable of accessing rough terrain and he has developed a few custom attachments to facilitate the completion of difficult jobs. The jobs were completed over the course of two visits. For both, phone calls were returned promptly and he arrived at the agreed-upon time.

The job originally was to take 5 days in the middle of June. Because of the constant rains it took a little longer. I feel that the job was a little rushed at the end and the cobblestones were not spread evenly. When I called Mr. Emerson he promptly returned with a skimmer and a roller and promptly fixed the problem by redistributing and leveling the drive. I must admit that I was skeptical about using cobblestones (this was not the drive I envisioned) but now after a couple of weeks and several rains (and being driven on) those heavy stones have really begun to sink into the clay and a solid road bed is developing.
