Business Description: I DO NOT PAINT HOUSES. I do Paint Color Consulting for Historic and all Other Homes by Email. Choosing exterior historic paint colors for your house is not easy. Our paint color consulting service makes it a lot easier. Historic homes are our specialty but we also do newer homes. We show you photos of your house in various house color schemes and period paint colors as if it were actually painted. We do NOT use colored pencils or gimmicky paint color visualizers as others do. Our paint color renderings look totally real as if your house was photographed after it was painted the chosen colors. The biggest mistake homeowners make when painting their house is color placement. Bad color placement can really upset the architectural balance of a house. We are curb appeal experts and will honestly critique your house. You may not like the truth but we will advise you where the problems are and what you can do to make your house look its best. Check out the before and after photos in our website’s portfolio. Also visit our web page for detailed information on our virtual house painting service and how it works. Our website is very educational and all owners of an older home should read it if you care about your house. Prices start at $250. The average price is about $400. Prices depend on number and style of windows, if there are trees in front of the house, architectural details etc. Email us with a large size photo of your house and we will be happy to provide a quote.

Recent Review: I am working through a contractor who hired this company to do the work. 6 weeks in and the room is terrible. There isn't enough space in this to completely tell the horrific experience of dealing with this company. One big mistake after another. One of the people working was even errested in a drug raid last week. I am so glad they were in my home and seen what I have. Their empoyees are not experieneced and they have my room looking worse than it did before beginning. I now have to find someone to correct the mistakes.

Recent Review: Very difficult interior painting job. Previous owner painted room with paneling with oil based paint. We had tried various products, scraping and sanding and were only able to remove approximately 30% of the old paint. Bill told us that it would be expensive because of all of the time that it would take to remove the old paint, but that he would try a couple of things to remove it as easily as possible. In the end, the only way it would come off was by using razor blades. He still came in under time and significantly under budget. And the bedroom looks great. We are very pleased with the job done.

Recent Review: Called and mentioned the Angie's List big deal that was currently running (1 painter for 8 hrs for $249 -or- 2 painters for 4 hours for $249) since I wanted to see about how long it would take to paint our 600 square foot space with 2 coats of paint. We were also working on a tight timeline to get this done since new carpet was being installed later that month and I didn't want paint drips (or even the possibility of paint drips) on the new carpet. I spoke with Adam & he was super helpful. Gave me a rough time estimate over the phone and said he could schedule me a day ahead of our carpet guy. He also said he would give me the Big Deal pricing for the first 4 hours (we decided 2 painters would be best given my time crunch). I had to call to reschedule when my carpet guy moved our install date, but Adam managed to move things around to keep me on my schedule. He then called a couple days ahead and said he could send his crew out a day earlier than we'd planned, if that was OK. That was fine by me! Bo and Tim arrived right on time and got to work quickly. They draped the carpet (even though I told them it was going to be replaced in a couple days) and were careful in taping off the recently painted woodwork. They worked quickly, but carefully and had both coats done in almost exactly 4 hours. Bo was trying hard to keep the hours to 4 so I wouldn't have to pay extra, but I told him I'd rather pay for an extra half or full hour than rush towards the end. He and I then went around the basement and flagged areas that needed little touch-ups. When it was all said and done, the basement paint job looked amazing and they were done in 4 hours + 45 minutes (which I offered to round to the next hour, but he said there was no need to do that). I was VERY pleased with how prompt, professional and honest these guys were! And Adam was easy to work with. I would definitely use ABS Interiors again! Thanks, Angie's List, for introducing me to them!

Recent Review: Greg Hughes was great to deal with. He and his crew are the nicest guys and they did a terrific job on the bathroom and other projects throughout my house. I?d had another contractor in to look at the bathroom project. He recommended a very expensive approach. Thanks to Greg and his crew, the bathroom looks terrific. It would have cost at least twice as much if I?d gone with the other contractor. Greg is a good communicator, explaining the options and issues concerned with the house repairs in a way I could understand. When I asked him to paint a door on the screened-in porch, he explained that one shiny new area makes the rest of it look worse. I appreciated the advice. Saved me a lot of money. He?s also resourceful, faux painting a repaired hole in the mantle to make it look like a knothole. Although skillful in all other areas, painting walls and woodwork did not prove to be the company?s strong suit. The crew was nice to have around, and I felt comfortable having them in the house when I wasn?t home (and appreciated their letting the dogs out for me). They were always punctual, never arriving late; occasionally I found them waiting in the driveway until 8 a.m. rolled around. I was amazed at the excellence of their work (except for the painting) and delighted with how respectful they were of me and my house. I appreciate all the improvements Greg Hughes and his crew did on my house. The house was on the market only a few weeks, and I know the work they did contributed to the quick sale.

FAffordable Interiors
I received an estimate from Wade in late June.  I am an out of state homeowner, and I had limited time to travel 8 hours to do repairs on the home.  After having set a start date, Wade called me as I was driving up stating that it was his birthday and he would not be getting started until the day after our agreed upon start date.  I then had to call my flooring installation company and arrange for them to start a day later than scheduled.  Thankfully they were able to do that.  Wade and his partner showed up early in the morning and got started right away.   They ended up taking a day longer to paint than planned.  Wade asked me to call him two days later after the paint had time to dry well so that he could come back and do touch ups.  The trim, cabinets, doors and mouldings needed another coat of paint, and Wade stated that it would be best to allow a few days of dry time on those areas.  I called Wade 2 days later and he stated he would be over the next day to finish up the job.  He was a no show, and my message and text went unanswered for 2 more days.  When he returned my text, he stated that it was the anniversary of his child's death, and that he would come over the next day.  Again, he was a no show.  My messages and texts again went unanswered.  I heard from Wade a day later, and was told that he was too busy to finish the job.  He asked me to call him the next time I was in town, which would be a month later.  We set up a date in June for him to finish up the job, and again he did not show.  I called and sent texts, at which time he told me that he was not going to be able to finish up the job.  I ended up calling another painting company to put finishing coats on the trim, cabinets, doors and mouldings.  Wade was very rude, very unprofessional, and when I told him I was thinking of taking him to small claims court, he told me to "f-off"!  I wish I had been a member of Angie's list at that time, so that I could have found a professional, dependable interior painting company!  I regret ever having chosen Affordable Interiors and Wade Davis to perform any work on my home!

I was initially excited about the renovations and was initially pleased with quality of work performed by James, who appeared very knowledgeable and skilled with the work he performed. Plumbing and electrical work appeared well executed, with the exception of paying $700.00 to have my electric service upgraded from 100 amp to 200 amp, as I was recently informed by an electrician who I had to hire to install the $20.00 breaker for my pool that the service had not been upgraded to 200 amp service. Mr. Hughes via text, wrote that he planned to charge me $200.00 for that same breaker. I was sincerely displeased with the quality of the drywall repair and overall painting of the ceiling and walls, which was performed by another worker. This worker was very fast and painting appeared haphazard, as he missed areas of the ceiling and walls and did an inadequate job of patching nail holes, etc. This same worker poorly installed wainscotting in the master bedroom and even cut the panels in the bedroom with a power saw, allowing brown saw dust to fly around the freshly painted room, where it soiled bed linens, etc. The poorly executed painting and installed wainscotting was pointed out to Mr. Hughes. Said he would send someone else to fix the wainscotting, which he did several weeks later. The painting was left as is. Understand that this project was initiated in January and was stretched out over a four month period, with sporadic work being performed. At times there was little or no communication with Mr. Hughes, as he failed to respond to telephone calls and/or text messages in a timely manner. Cabinets and countertops took weeks to get, as Mr. Hughes reported that they had to be back ordered. Back splash was never installed and one cabinet is missing a side panel. The paint on existing cabinets is flacking off. To say the least, the process of this "renovation" has altered my perception of trust, honesty, and integrity of those in the home "improvement" business, especially Mr. Hughes. It is my heartfelt belief that I was taken advantage of due to being a single 67 year old retired school teacher who was seen as "vulneralbe." This personal experience has proven to be emotionally and psychologically damaging and my kitchen remains unfinished. It pains me to look at it. Especially since it cost approximately $10,000.00!!!
