Recent Review: My 10 year old Air Conditioner was costing me about $200 every year to get running for the Summer.  After putting $250 into the AC unit the previous year, I was informed my unit would cost $1000 for a new motor.  So I decided to get a  whole new unit.  I got 3estimates from 3 Angie's list participants.  Gombar was my pick, in addition to a very good price,  I just liked the way John came looked at the total system explained the differences (or lack there of) between the brands available.  Gombar carries all the top brands, During the install the Gombar guys were very professional, neat and even cleaned up after themselves, I couldn't even find the remnants of wire stripping insulation.  I held off for over a year writing this review because I wanted to see how the unit worked this year after sitting throughout the Winter.  As expected I was not disappointed.  Go with Gombar, you won't be sorry.

Recent Review: THEY SAID THEY WOULD COME BETWEEN 9AM AND 12, BUT WHEN I CALLED THEM THAT MORNING THEY WERE ABLE TO GIVE ME A MUCH CLOSER TIME RANGE. THEY CAME WHEN THEY SAID THEY WOULD. MICHAEL WAS COURTEOUS, NEAT AND CLEAN, FOUND NO PROBLEMS, CHARGED WHAT THEY SAID THEY WOULD. A FINE EXPERIENCE, THOUGH THEIR RESPONSE TO AN URGENT PROBLEM WOULD TELL ME MORE ABOUT THE WAY THEY DO BUSINESS.

Recent Review: They first charge me to look at it and then again to come and fix any problems I may have. They are a good company and have been around for quite some time. They are very polite when they come out to work. The thing which I did not like about them was the miscommunication. If I do not answer my phone they assume that I am not at home which I do not like. They second time they were coming I gave them my wife's number since I do not have service at work but still they called me and skipped me yet again. The workers do not perform a bad job but the people at the office are not that good. They charge about the same price as others. I would use them again in the future.

Recent Review: Customer service is generally great. They clean up after themselves and appear to be knowledgeable. We did have an issue to begin with. The first guy sent out wasn’t really experienced and he didn’t check the distribution system in the house. So everything was hooked up and then he left. We would turn on the AC for a minute and then it would lock out. We had to call them back out, and the next guy they sent did a good service check. He found out the distribtution wasn’t set up right and found the unit was overworking itself. We ended up dealing with the owner and he sent out the supervisor; after going back and forth, I advised them that I wanted the AC made functional on their own cost because the work wasn’t properly checked and performed the first time. They did complete my request.

Recent Review: When David came out to give me a price he actually measured my home and explained what system would be best for my situation. This is something that the other companies did not do, David also helped me to get a rebate from AEP which lowered the final cost of the units installed.  As for the actual work being done the service was fantastic, my ducts probably had not been cleaned in 30 years.   Air Excellence came in cleaned the ducts, cleaned the vent covers.   The new air conditioner and heater were installed professionally, the installers were very professional and obviously cared about doing a good job.

Yes - both technicians were very nice and knowledgable.  One technician put my address into his GPS incorrectly and failed to appear at the scheduled time.  However, a manager called and was willing to reschedule my appointment and apologized.  It was fine, and he still came, just late, and didn't rush through the job.

09/14/2009 ? Invoice 109214 - Was charged a $69 service fee to have warranty work performed on blower. After showing Greg the original sales quotes, in writing, from the A\C sales rep stating 5 year warranty included ALL parts and labor, he explained, after talking to supervisor, that the sales rep should not have stated that in writing and I still had to be charged $69.   10/21/2009 ? Invoice 251944. Greg States that Blower Capacitor UF value is 20/18.6. The unit was still under the manufacturer 5 year warranty at time and the blower assembly was recently replaced which also came with a 1 year warranty. This is important because Invoice 12868 asked me to spend $349 for a new Blower Capacitor.  7/10/2010 : Invoice 12868. Julio explained to me that I NEED to replace the blower wheel capacitor $349. His reading was 20/18.8   I asked if it was under warranty when it was replaced with the new blower wheel assembly 10 months before that. Was told it was not under warranty because the 5 year warranty had expired .  I also asked him why it wasn?t replaced when Greg had a similar reading and he stated there is nothing he could do about it.  7/10/2010 : Invoice 12868. Julio explained to me that I NEED to replace the coils because of corrosion due to adding bleach into Drain. This was a very expensive request. After showing him Invoice 87850 ( 10/05/06 ) instructing me to ADD bleach once a month, he immediately told me he made a mistake and the coils were fine and not to worry about it. Are my coils fine? Please feel free to review the invoice 87850.   7/10/2010 : Invoice 12868 Technician arrived 30 minutes after the 4 hour time window assigned. Not a single phone call was made telling me when he would arrive, let alone arrive late.  Technician still Attempted to charge me for the service call. I  ask for the company to honor its ?Arrive on time or free guarantee?.  I would have not asked for the free service if I had been notified of the tardiness in advance through a simple phone call.   6/1/2010 : Invoice: 115991. Needed to have compressor capacitor replaced. Original Sales rep assured me that the entire outside unit was covered for 10 years. The 10 year warranty is the reason I chose Scott?s. Was told today that only the compressor and not the compressor capacitor was covered. GE states that the capacitor should be good for 60,000 hours. This was not reached. After discovering that the charge would be $397 to have $20 part replaced I called the office to verify this was correct. A lovely lady asked me to call her back if the technician could not answer my question. I called back and the gentleman that answered the phone would not transfer me to the original lady I was speaking with. I explained that she asked me to call back. He would only keep stating that the price of the part was listed on the invoice. I still do not see Compressor Capacitor listed on the invoice under the service description section. I wish he would have let me talk to the rep that asked me to call her back with any questions. Why would he not transfer me? He did state that a manager would call me back shortly and  I have not received any phone calls.

I was treated so poorly by the woman who answered the phone that it was disgraceful. She actually yelled at me because their repairman didn't have the proper size capacitor. He put in the wrong size since he didn't have the proper one. He said he'd come back to put the proper one in. He never bothered. When the air conditioner had more problems several months later I called and told the woman who answered the phone that the AC wasn't working and that the man never came back to put in the proper size capacitor. She yelled at me and said I should have called sooner and I would have to pay the full price for him to come out again. I told her it was not my job to remind their repairman to do their job and return with the proper materials. She was vicious and nasty and told me nobody would come if I didn't pay. She was incompetent, rude, and unprofessional.

Overall, things went well. We had a subsequent leak from the vent stack the ac drain was tapped into. Air Excellence came out the afternoon we called and reported the leak, checked the ac system and determined the leak wasn?t caused by the ac. Turns out the leak was caused by faulty plumbing. We received no invoice from Air Excellence for that emergence call.
