Business Description: Housecalls Home Services is a corp of mostly retired skilled craftsman. We have employees and subcontractors. All of our workers are highly skilled in more than one trade and have an extensive background in a wide range of styles and eras of homes from turn of the century plaster lath to newly built homes, from mobile homes to log cabins, mansions to cottages, dog houses to out houses. There isn't much we haven't built or worked on. If your repair job is a day or less we usually do not go out to the site. A quote can be generated over the phone or online. When you hire us for the project the handyman will confirm the price (up or down as needed) and begin the work. If the job is extensive, such as a new kitchen/bath/finished basement/roof and so forth a salesman will perform an estimate from your plans (if needed). Payments for small jobs are due on completion and can be paid by cash, check, credit card, Paypal and online. Larger jobs will require a deposit and progress payments. For diagnostic work (you have a leak, electric short, something hidden, anything that cannot be readily identified) there is a trip charge of $45 and will be billed at $55 per hour. We make every effort to get to the source of the problem so that we are not running the clock on your dime. We are insured with Leonard Insurance for $1 million liability. Bonding is available if necessary but it is generally not a requirement. Our parent company is Spofford Builders, a home remodeling and custom builder. Mike Ross is the owner and we have had two positive experiences with him over the course of 20 years. We have been very pleased with his activity and with what he has done for us over the last 15 years. It was an addition as well as a remodel and it cost about $23000. On very short notice about three years ago, Mr. Ross built a column out of 2x6's and 2x10s. It worked out quite well. We needed to support an overhang associated with our roof and he did a very nice job. His people also installed some required wrought iron railings. His prices were competitive. I don?t think he is a lowball kind of guy. He seemed to be very straightforward in his approach while doing the big room. He was fair with the activity that we had a couple of years ago. I would certainly consider Mike in the future and he would certainly be one that I would go to.

The work started on August 8th and ended on September the 8th. The workers were excellent. They were very very good. The carpenter, the plumber, the painter and the electrician were very good. The price was expensive but the finished work was very nice. The quality of their work was excellent. Their professionalism, responsiveness and punctuality were good. I would use them again in the future if necessary. I think the salesperson elevated a lot of the prices unnecessarily.

FHook Home Maintenance
Mr. Hook came to my mobile home in Garrettsville as prearranged. I was assured on his business phone that he did work on mobile homes. At the appt. he was given an extensive list of work needed done and we walked through the list. Mr. Hook told me that he and his crew of 10 were extremely busy but he would crunch the numbers and get back with me with an estimate. During the appt., Mr. Hook was very quiet and didn't engage in much conversation. He seemed anxious to leave. I waited a month for contact from him, but that didn't come. Then I sent an email asking for a response. That didn't happen. I'm glad Mr. Hook is very busy, but find his non-responsiveness very rude and unprofessional. I will work with another company.
