Recent Review: Our old buildings and houses look new now, we thought we would need to repaint exteriors but after the power washing we did not. We were charged a fair price and it was below other quotes we got for multiple buildings. Mr Gibbs was very nice and professional when working with us on pricing.
Recent Review: Matt Pomeroy promptly responded to our first call and arrived the next day for measurements and conversation about what we wanted. He emailed back plans the next day. He mad many helpful suggestion as we went through about 3 iterations of the design finally deciding on just a deck. We had some special things we wanted like very shallow steps (almost a ramp) and Matt was able to do that for us. He also assisted us with getting a metal railing from Fortin Iron Works. He also took care of the proper building permits and inspections. Actual construction was completed by Sean and Adam and they were excellent also. I could tell from day 1 they were very professional. We would talk to them about small things we wanted done a certain way and they were always agreeable to work with. They are also, in my opinion, excellent carpenters who can do everything needed on a construction site. They also kept the work site very clean. At the end of each day they returned the old stairs to our back door so the dogs could go out and do their business without us having to take them on a leash. They worked during some of the coldest weather in November and kept the job going. We are planning another project for this year and will want to work with Matt, Sean and Adam again.
Recent Review: The guy came out, did a lot of survey and told me what they would do. The only thing that didn't happen was that they said they would power wash the patio too but they didn't do it. It was really not a good thing but I think I should have had it in writing. Everything else went fine, they finished on time and the outcome is excellent on the deck.
Recent Review: Other than some bad weather days that interrupted the project about 3 times, the project went quite well. The team were professionals and worked with our schedule needs. They are fence and deck professionals ... "doctors".
Recent Review: Tom was so great to work with. We moved into an existing home that had a strange patio layout. We wanted to figure out how to make the existing patio and new deck look like they belonged together. He came out 3 different times and we discussed all options from vinyl decks to pressure treated wood. Our budget limited us to the pressure treated wood, but we could not be more pleased with the results. Tom really came up with a great design that fit our budget. I was very impressed with the crew. At the end of the day everything was cleaned up and everyone was very polite and professional. You won't regret choosing to work with Tom.
Recent Review: Installer had transportation and hired help problems, but when he got there he did an excellent job. After posts were installed and city inspection done, he built the deck by himself in one long day.
Recent Review: Tony just finished a replacement deck with benches and broad steps and a skirt around a three season porch. It looks great with wonderful details. The workmanship is top notch and meticulous. His design recommendations were spot on. If you are looking for a great deck at a great price--call Tony.
Recent Review: Excellent quality and careful attention to detail helped the crew work through several problems. We have lived with the deck for 4 months and are very pleased with it. The only suggestion I have is that the members of their crew not smoke on the job. Even though it was outside, I prefer no smoking on my property (although there were no butts left on my property). We had miserable weather during their work, that resulted in lots of mud, but they worked through the problems and kept all of their promises. They also answered my many questions and even provided me with touch up "paint" to cover a few cut edges that were showing (due to the floor pattern). The new deck is beautiful and easy to keep clean. I highly recommend this company.
The Patio Room Factory built a new deck on my house and they did a fantastic job. From the initial contact to the end of the job they were very polite, professional and courteous. I get so many compliments on my new deck! I would definitely hire them again!

I had my new deck built in the middle of the summer! Understandably, this is a deck builders' busy season! Frank told me straightup it might take eight weeks before he could start, and it was. I was patient ,and now I have beautiful deck that make neighbors envious! Thanks Prodeck!

I had 3 quotes for a new deck. Pro Deck was the most competitive with same quality level materials as the other two. Rodney, and crew, were extremely easy to work with from design through on-time completion. Would definitely recommend !

AArchadeck of Columbus
Our old deck was built by the previous homeowner and was not in good shape. Mike and his crew at Archadeck tore it out and designed and installed a new deck which we absolutely love. My whole experience with Archadeck was great from the start. Mike was communicative and very helpful when discussing with me what I wanted in my new deck. Since I'm not a deck builder or designer, I let Mike guide me through what he thought would be good for our budget and how we planned on using the deck. His design was well-done, and we are already enjoying the very usable space we have now. I liked that he was able to make a computer rendering of the deck so I could easily visualize what it looked like. The tear out of the old deck and installation of the new deck was done by Rich. Rich's attention to detail is amazing. I'm a stay at home mom with a new baby, so I spend a lot of time sitting in my family room feeding the baby, so I got to watch him work out the window quite a bit. I could tell he knew what he was doing and he did a fantastic job on the little details, like cutting the wood to fit against the siding perfectly. He was professional and cleaned up at the end of every day. We lived with the deck for two weeks before Mike came out for his final walk-through, and I didn't have anything to complain about, which is surprising because I am very picky about details. I think this is a testament to what a great job Rich does! Phil is Archadeck's production manager, but he also does their landscape design. He came up with a beautiful plan for around our deck and our backyard, and I hope to have his crew out to implement some of it next year. For now we just had them grade the yard and put down grass seed, which they did this past week and did a good job. In sum, I would not hesitate to recommend Archadeck to anyone looking to build a new deck!

ADbu Construction Llc Deck Builders Unlimited
It went great right from the start! The materials were there quickly and work commenced. I was impressed with the quality of the materials from the metal railing to the cedar planking and pressure treated framing. First I thought the cathedral stairwells were going to be a problem for Deck Builders Unlimited, but once Mr. Allen took control I knew my worries were over. In the three months that it took deck builders to finish my deck I realized that I was lucky enough to find just what I was looking for. A company where quality and details come first. Highly recommend and enjoyed working with Deck Builders Unlimited over the years. Pics available! Just a little late on completion

Our deck was very old. The wood was moldy, warped and severely scratched. We hoped the supports were still usable. We contacted Elite Decking, as well as several other companies that build decks. Elite Decking was very prompt in coming to our home and providing a proposal. The price was extremely reasonable compared to the other quotes we were given. Once the work began, Elite was very professional, neat and helpful. He even came up with some design ideas which improved the overall look of the deck. Elite was also responsive to any questions or concerns we had. Clean-up was awesome, and they came back and sealed the deck just as promised. We were very pleased. They did a great job, and we intend to use them again.

A contract was signed 6/2012 with 1/2 the money given at time of signing. The deck was not completed until August of 2012. The provider informed me it had passed city inspection and the remainder of the money was given. In March of 2013 I received a letter from the Zoning Board of Columbus stating no final inspection had been done on the deck. I called the provider who stated he was aware and would have this completed within a week or two. I requested a response when the inspection was completed but did not hear back from the provider. In June of 2013 I noticed some warping and wood splitting. I called in August to the company as the handrail was falling off. The provider sent a crew out and a new deck was built. In the process of building this new deck I found the final inspection was never completed and in fact, the deck would not have past the city inspection as it was not built to code. The new deck was completed 9/9/2013 and I was present for the city 's final inspection and it did not pass the inspection due to a problem with the steps. The provider stated he would correct this. To date and after several calls to the provider, my steps have not been fixed and therefore, the deck still has not past an inspection. In the course of resolving this problem, I found the company generally does not return phone calls. If a call happens to be returned, the supervisor will tell you in "three days we will have someone out". No one ever comes. I have contacted a lawyer at this point to dicuss my options. I did my homework before employing this provider. At the time I was locating a provider, this provider had good ratings. I am writing this review of my experience to provide information to other consumers thinking of hiring this group.

We've used this company before, and have been very impressed with the quality and professionalism of its employees. When issues arose, they were very responsive to our concerns. The entire project only took a month, and we're really happy with the end result.

The 12' by 12' wood deck on our Clintonville home is old and dilapidated, and we planned to replace it. After examining it, Frank gave us a detailed estimate -- an estimate lower than other top-rated Angie's List contractors we had talked to. He answered all my questions, and was courteous and professional throughout. But what impressed me most was that he then explained the kind of wood and construction that had been used in our old deck, which were excellent, and said that although he would be happy to build a new deck for us, we might want to consider having a good handyman repair the old deck and paint it with a special deck paint Frank described. He said this would cost us perhaps $500 instead of $5000, and the old deck would look fine and would "outlast all of us." Thank you, Frank, for this example of forthright honesty and terrific customer service. We're very grateful!

BAPCO | The Architectural Products Company
We hired APCO to remove and replace a wood deck with a larger composite one. We signed up for an estimate after seeing them at the home and garden show. They promptly followed up by phone and made an appointment to come out to see our needs. They did this and promptly followed up with a quote followed by taking detailed measurements and drawing up plans. We liked the plans and found the price acceptable so we hired them without getting any other quotes. They estimated about six weeks before they would start. We heard from them roughly after the six weeks and told us a crew would come out and get started. First they took out the old deck and then dug holes and put in footers for the new. They got the framing done for the new deck and we found that the crew had left some items on the ground such as several flagstones. These items were apparently under the old deck and we were surprised they didn't move them before framing. My wife and I got those out from under the frame. Once they started putting the decking on we began to notice some quality issues. What surprised us was that the issues were obvious and the crew did not seem concerned enough with them to get it right. First we noticed that they had miscut a decking board about a third of the way across, yet they put that board into the deck. A couple of other badly scratched boards were also installed. The deck includes a single step from the house down to the deck and then two steps from the deck to the ground. My wife and I immediately noticed, with the naked eye, that all three steps were not level. While most of the screws in this deck are hidden, there are a few places where screws needed to be visible. This includes the surface of the steps. On one of the steps there was no attempt made to line the screws up so they at least would look neat. They were put in haphazardly and frankly looked like a ten year old had put them in. All of the above items we corrected after we brought them to the attention of the manager. A couple of the items took a second call back to get satisfactorily resolved. Generally we were disappointed in the crew's lack of pride in making sure the deck looked professionally finished. Also surprised that supervision of the crew wasn't tighter. The crew was good about cleaning up their scrap and disposing of it in the dumpster APCO provided for it. The crew was not a good about making sure we ended up with a clean finished deck. During the course of construction, they tracked mud onto the deck. The manager eventually noticed and had them power wash it. They got the worse of the mud off, but we still ended up needed to power wash it ourselves once they were done to get it completely cleaned off. A couple of things that we are just living with: First, when the gentleman came out to measure and get the plans started, he told us they would build some type of enclosure around the sump pump pipe that exits the house and would be visible above the deck. This made perfect sense as it would be needed to give the deck a nice finished look which is what we expected from APCO. Unfortunately, we failed to notice that this did not make it into the plans and APCO did not honor that commitment. Rather they said that isn't something they normally do and the gentleman should not have promised it. They suggested we figure out a way to hide it. With it not being in the plans, and the gentleman having left the company, we ended up figuring out a way to hide it. Secondly, the new deck is slightly lower than the old one it replaced. The result of this is that a 'scar line' is visible on the walls of the house where the old deck surface met it. Most contractors we have used in the past have had enough pride in making sure their work looked great that they would have found a way to hide that with some type of molding (even if they would have to charge for it). Not APCO. Currently the scar is still visible and we will probably hire another firm to help us with that. In conclusion, while the crew sometimes showed up a day after we were told, APCO generally did this project on schedule. With a couple of exceptions mentioned above, we have a nice looking deck that seems to be solidly built. We just felt that for a project in this price range a little more care and pride could have gone into the project to get a more professional looking final product. Also if you do contract with APCO, make sure every detail you agree to is spelled out in the paperwork or plans. They will not honor anything said but not in writing.
