Description Of Work: we had a roof leak with driving rains where the 3 season porch joined house. As the rest of the roof was in need of replacement within a few yrs, we decided to go with a full exterior remodel to include new roof, paint, aluminum facia and soffits, gutters and downspouts, and some brickwork. Their paint bid was 3x all competitors, and we subbed out the brickwork. While the roofing bid was above all of the others, we signed with Blass based on a longterm friendship and gave them the roof, fascia, gutters, and downspouts. I wrote my 1st check to them 5/31/13. It is still not done correctly. Member Comments: First of all, they were advised by a tradesman roofer that the wood trim at the house and porch joint needed to be removed to repair the leak...caulking was not sufficient repair. They removed the shingles, saw no overt water damage...and told my husband the wood did not need removed. Guess what...it leaked. When we called them back....we were told that my husband told them they did not need to pull off the wood...we stared at them incredulously ..we were then informed that their contract stated that they were to replace the roof, not repair a roof leak. Mike Blass stated he would be happy to remove the board, but they would have to bill us for the additional work. He also stated that the needed repair could be out of their scope of work....they put themselves out there as a one call does it all company. THIS was the icing on the cake ( please read on for the rest of the issues that led up to this) When I heard that we would be paying more, all communications ceased and they left...our work remains incomplete. Up to this point in time, We had called them back and asked for numerous redos as follows: The aluminum soffit was replaced in 2 areas due to dents and was initially installed wrong ( my husband saw it and made them redo) , The gutters were incorrectly installed and water poured down the house...they placed it below the drip edge with no metal guide pieces, so the water missed the gutter, All of the roofing was butted too tightly to the house, and bulged. In addition, they lost their line to stay straight and the shingles grew noticeably closer together...they tried to repair this when we were out of town, but my husband was wary and made them come when he was here...they didn't take the roof back off to the top as was needed, trying to remove and re-lay only the 2 bad rows. My husband caught this and made them do it right. There is one front corner of the eaves that has a torn, jagged and protruding metal edge and hole approx 2and quot; x 4and quot; because they never finished replacing the trim. All of these repairs are not done, and those that are, took all summer. Fortunately, we have numerouse pictures as the house painters took several for us too! So, the buckled shingles remain in front, the hole in the soffit remains, and the roof still leaks. We are sick at the amount of money spent and the quality of workmanship done. The Worst part is this....we paid them in full believing they would stand behind their work and word. After all, this was a friend.
