Recent Review:   I would recommend this company to anyone! From the president, to office staff to the incredibly wonderful workers ---they have been excellent. Throughout the cellar, I had the front wall braced, a sump pump installed, a moisture barrier put on the walls and plywood over all the walls. The company dug out and sealed cracks in the floor and  arranged to have it painted. Midstate also dug around the front and side of my house and installed pipe and stone to wisk water from the front. I sit in an usual place because I get run off from state and county roads and a farmer's 107-acre field. Of course, no one will to do anything about it. For the last three years, after a moderate rain I would listen to my sump pump go off every two to three minutes. I was a nervous wreck. Since the restoration, everything is dry and I really haven't heard my sump pump run. It has been pure heaven. Everyone I have dealth with from Midstate has been caring and professional. They even sent flowers when I had a car accident! They truly are a wonderful company.

Recent Review: The fellow was very pleasant and fixed the sump pump so that it was once again pumping the water out of the basement after torrential rains and much flooding in the area. I was happy with his promptness, the answering service who took my call and the price of the service.

Recent Review: They were ready to come at once, returning my call within half an hour. This has always been their practice with emergencies like this flooding or with non-working heating system. The work was done very promptly and carefully, and the working of the new pump was explained to me, since it had an improvement over the old model. They are unfailingly polite and careful, working swiftly to correct whatever is the problem, and their fees have always been perfectly reasonable.

This was a terrific experience. They came right away, gave an estimate that was lower than what I expected, and returned and did the work soon thereafter. They left the basement cleaner and neater than when they started, and there is absolutely no water there anymore, even during the heaviest storms. I would strongly recommend them.

Midstate Basement Authorities did a great job on this project. 1) All workers were very professional, and responsive to any questions or requests I had. 2) The complexity of this job increased once we discovered that a significant amount of water was leaking from an underground pipe just outside our basement wall. 3) They were able to simultaneously finish the drainage system and sump pump project as well as excavating outside to find and cap off the leaking pipe.

I can't say enough about how prompt, efficient and professional Eric, Adam and all of the team from Midstate Basement Authorities have been. When our basement flooded, I called Midstate and Eric and Adam were here the next day. I had a proposal in 2 days and they were here to do the work within a week of my signing the proposal. Following the installation of the basement system and sump, I discovered that the drainage line I had them hook the sump, outflow to was not adequate and called Eric. He was there the next day and worked out a solution that also solved my long standing problem with the water flow from our gutter downspouts. Other contractors have attempted to resolve the gutter downspout problem without success. Eric quickly designed a drainage system that will finally solve all of the drainage problems on our property. The workers from Midstate were courteous and respectful while working in our house. They kept us informed of their progress and took care to make sure that their work caused as little disruption As possible. The quality of the work that they performed is excellent. We would not hesitate at all to use them again and recommend them highly. They are not only very professional, they also provide exceptional customer service.

FHULL HEATING & PLUMBING CO
I'm going to preface this with: Hull was great with a couple other jobs they've done for me, which is why I gave them the benefit of the doubt for the past 4 months. But... After several unanswered requests to have work done, I finally took matters into my own hands and ordered the sump pump backup apparatus, read the instructions, and determined that running the required water line was still out of my capabilities. I called and scheduled an appointment a week in advance and specified what would need to be done. When they showed up, they looked at the pump apparatus and announced that they would have to order a part. One would have thought that, knowing what they needed to do ahead of time since I told them over the phone (run a water line for a waterline-tied sump pump backup), they would have the parts ready. Even with that aside, they said they would call the next day, and told me to just leave a door open or a key somewhere. I received no call the next day (Tuesday). I called Wednesday and was promised a return call. Friday rolled around and I had still heard nothing. In the meantime, I checked out Lowes and discovered many options for the backflow preventer that they stated I needed. It's not like this thing is hard to come by. 8 days after the original appointment, that following Tuesday, I called them and told them I had found someone else to do the work. They put me in quite a bad situation - I planned ahead so I could make sure this was done before I started something else, and now I was still forced to scramble two weeks later to get this done. The lack of return calls is not a one-time thing, and is not new. I've had to call repeatedly several times in the past to pin them down. The only smooth event was a water heater replacement where they came the next day. I'm done with the company, and it's too bad because I have two sizable projects coming up. I also have a job where I encounter many new-to-ithaca home owners who *regularly* ask me for various recommendations, especially around this time of the year when many new families are moving in. In addition, I manage two rental properties. Hull will no longer be on the list of service providers that I use and recommend. But, when you can pin them down to do work, their pricing is fair and the quality of the work that they actually complete is fair as well.
