Recent Review: We decided last spring (2010) to have our 32+ year old buried heating oil fuel tank removed. As one of our neighbors said, it was an ecological disaster waiting to happen... We had another company remove the buried oil tank. John Nugent and Sons worked with us on scheduling the removal / installation of old and new heating and AC equipment. They came out early to remove the outside AC equipment so that the oil tank could be dug up. And on the day the other company was digging up the oil tank, the old furnace was being removed and new one put in place. Even though they were not able to install the outside heatpump unit (old oil tank work still in process), we did have heat over the weekend even if it was "auxilary heat." The following Monday, they installed the exterior equipment and we were back in business - full heating and AC. Mike Jackson, our salesman and liaison to the company, was prompt with the initial appointment and cost estimate and he was very responsive to our questions. Excellent communcations from the Nugent office on scheduling of work. The removal / install crew was superb. They were careful to put down protective covering for the equipment removal and installation and cleaned up after themselves - wouldn't even know they were there other than the basement area where they were working is a lot cleaner than what we left them with at the start of this process!?! Superb work all around!

Recent Review: I like the following about Lucas: 1) He charges based on his time and out of pocket costs, rather than "what the traffic will bear". 2) He triages jobs and does his best to respond in an appropriately timely manner. 3) When he arrives on a job, he spends a few minutes looking over the situation and planning the best approach to a cost effective solution, rather than impulsively choosing the expensive, if justifiable, obvious fix. 4) He's not afraid to work in winter cold. 5) He obviously cares about his customers' welfare.   During an extended period of 0 F weather during our first winter in the house, we discovered a couple of freeze-susceptible parts of our hot water heating system. The first time, warming the area caused a flood from the ceiling. The second was a frozen baseboard. In both cases, immediate service was critical because large portions of the house were unheated. Another plumber recommended Lucas. The first time I called late in the evening and he shuffled his schedule to arrive by 9 AM. Although I was clearly in a crisis, he efficiently replaced the vulnerable broken copper pipe with an improved placement of flexible PEX for a cost under $200. Two weeks later, a long baseboard heater froze and burst in two places. I called Lucas at 3 AM to leave a message and get on his job list for the day, but he answered his phone, spoke coherently, and again arrived at 9 AM. He brought with him two long baseboard heaters he had just replaced with high capacity units at another site. Within two hours he had removed the old unit, installed the new ones with modified piping connections. Cost $250, including the used heaters at no charge. Update 10/2014: Lucas came to do annual oil burner service, and showed me that my fuel tank was leaking and chimney was degraded. He quoted me very fair prices, did the work quickly and efficiently, and held to his quote even when he discovered that the old tank could not be removed intact from the basement. Final cost was significantly below that of other area firms. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

They are really good. I have used them in the past. It was just some regards to my hot water tank. It was leaking. They are actually coming back out to service it again. Their price is pretty good. It is competitive.

AD P BARTLETT & SONS HEATING
Our hot water tank blew out on the side. I called Bartlett and Sons after hours on a Thursday evening and they respond to our house within an hour. They offered to replace the hot water tank that evening but we opted to have the hot water on demand system installed. The gentlemen that responded gave us tips on how to keep the hot water going and not spilling everywhere until they could get the on demand system ordered and installed. They also advised us if it got worse to not hesitate and call, they would come right back. They order the unit on Friday, came back first thing Monday morning and installed. I noticed they took extra care to make sure everything was installed perfectly and the cleaned up too. The gentlemen were very nice, professional and answered all my questions. I will be using for them for all my plumbing and heating needs. I highly recommend.

FMike Chew
I had called Mr. Chew at 9 am on Tuesday morning to have my kitchen sink unclogged. I could not even leave a message on his cell phone. He called me back a few minutes later to tell me that he was sorry that he missed my phone call. He proceeded to tell me that he had 11 messages on his phone and they were all from that morning. I told him that my kitchen sink was clogged and asked him if he could unclog it and he told me that he could. He wanted to get back to the people that had left him the messages on his phone and he would get back to me with an appointment. I said O.K. I waited and waited and waited and no return phone call. I was furious. My fiance had reminded me later on that evening that wasn't the first time he lied to us. A few years back we had him install a hot water tank, he did a good job then, however, he told us that he would be back to take the old hot water tank to the dump. He never showed up to take the old hot water tank to the refuse station. I would not recommend this plumber to anyone!!!!
